Scared out of my mind

Hi everyone,
This is my first day on this forum. I just weighed myself today and to my great disappointment found that I am 170 :banghead: up from 145 back in January.

I was at 165 in September and managed to lose those 20 pounds in 5 months and I'm just so upset with myself for gaining all this weight back..and then some  .At my gym I was told that I have a small frame so the added weight really shows and I really cant stand to take a picture of myself. Anyway I'm really afraid to gain more weight and REALLY want to lose weight and keep it off

So my goal now is to try again and figure out a way to keep my weight off. I think part of the reason I ended up gaining all this weight is that I stopped being consistent about going to the gym. I also stopped counting my calories somewhere along the way.

SO my plan is to track my weight on here and get encouragement from everyone here who is pretty much in the same boat as me.

I will be tracking what i am doing to lose weight and please feel free to tell me if i need to make any modifications.

I look forward to learning from you and getting to know you!!

Thanks Karacooks :)
I just got back from the gym! It feels great to be doing something about weight loss besides worry!

So anyway I did some ab work today and managed to get 30 mins of cardio in.

I plan to alternate my days with cardio and circuit training. I know I've got a long journey ahead of me but im really excited to get my body back to a healthy weight! I'm also really excited to be part of this forum. I know it will help me with accountability since I plan on reporting on this diary every day!

Thanks Antyoch!

I had planned to wake up early this morning to go to the gym before going to univ but it was raining and there was so much thunder that i couldnt get up. Bad excuse i know. So anyway im going to make sure i go tonight after i get home.

I want to get in the habit of working out in the mornings though because then at least i wont have the excuse of being too tired after school to workout.

Any ideas how to wake up in the morning for a workout?

You know for years I tried to be a morning workout person. And I know all the things people say about morning workouts being more effective. But at 41 I know that I'm not a morning person. I'm not, it's not going to happen, and it will never happen. :)

I work out in the evenings. I don't let being tired from work be an excuse; I just do it. But I don't sweat not being able to get up. I've long ago given up on that.

Just .. you know ... don't beat yourself up if you don't do the morning thing. :)

Nightrunner, KaraCooks- Can totally relate to not being a morning person. But I am the kind of person who will never work out in the evenings coz collegues and other friends want to hang out after work etc. There's no other option for me but to wake up early. I set the alarm for 5.20 AM- snooze twice and get up at 5.30 AM. It is extremely hard to get out of bed but once I have splashed some water in my face, I am up. It has worked for me so far (hahaha...it has been only two weeks, btw- let's see if i stick to it). I also do like my yoga classes and am bummed if I miss it. It also helps to have a strict teacher, who expects you to show up at least 10 minutes before the class.

Good luck both of you- I will drop by and say hi once in a while.

Yay! After work today i went out with friends for dinner and i managed to eat within my allotted calories for the day. Alsooo!! I went to the gym afterward. Mind you i only got 22 mins of cardio in and a bit of circuit, but i figured its better than nothing!

Thanks for your encouraging words everyone!

I think im going to give myself a chance. IF i can manage to wake up for a morning workout for a week then ill try to keep it up. If not ill have to do it after work, or maybe ill alternate weeks...hm. Its def nice to have someone who will be strict to keep you on the ball juni. A friend of mine is thinking of joining my gym so maybe she'll be a morning person. Anyway sounds like your on a good streak. Keep it up!! Oh and i like that idea of splashing water on your face. Thats really what i need...to chase the sleep away. lets see what happens tomorrow!

Hey!

Welcome to the forums!!!

A little exercise is better than NONE!!! =)

*sigh* looks like you are right Karacooks :) im not a morning person and im just going to stop making myself feel bad about it. yup i slept in today. lol. i dont know, i guess i thought i could do it, but evidently i cant.
So workout tonight it is!

I made it the gym today!! I was soo tempted to just take a nap after i got home but thankfully i was able to get some cardio in. 40 mins!! it feels so great after a workout! i need to remember that feeling for when im feeling lazy and dont want to work out.

So this is day 3 for me and so far i have been doing alright. I hope i can keep this up!

Well its the weekend...im home all day today...and its also a long weekend (if ur in canada-monday's a holiday). So anywy this is whats reeally going to test my determination to stick to my guns.

On weekends we always have excess of food, and its always sitting on the kitchen table-buffet style :(. SOO hard not to snack. My plan is to just stay away from the kitchen all weekend because i tend to be okay if i dont see the food in front of me.

Any ideas how avoid snacking when watching a movie though? Im certain we'll end up watching at least a couple, and there is always junk food and chips and AGH!! ive been doing so well these past 3 days i dont want to mess things up

Im open to advice!

For the movie, plan your snacks ahead of time. There's no reason you *can't* snack, just be healthy.

Slice up some apples, pop yourself some popcorn and don't put butter on it, if you MUST have chips or crackers or something then measure out a serving and put it in a bowl and set it aside. We watch movies at home all the time and it was hard for me to not mindlessly eat while I watched ... but once I started planning my snacks and portioning them out, it got easier. :)

Good luck this weekend.

GREAT ADVICE Kara!! You are good! You're so right, healthy snacking makes sense!
Thanks so much for stopping by :)

Since i had the day off today i managed to go to the gym for a good hour and a half this morning! Got in 40 mins of cardio, some circuit and probably 15 mins in the massage chair :p

I also weighed myself and im 165!! Woot! I'm certain a lot of it is water weight but im just excited to see some weight loss!!

Water loss is still weight gone! :) Yay for you. And I'm jealous about the massage chair.

I have a gift certificate to the spa here - maybe I'll try to schedule a massage next week. Mmmmm.

Hey, I can totally relate to your story, I was 158 in November and now I'm in the 180's, what happened? I'm working my way back down though and more then happy to stop by every now and then and offer up some encouragement. Great job on your previous loss and we can do this again.

-No better way to treat yourself Kara. Although indulging in dark chocolate is a pretty close second :)

-LOL Owl, i know what happened to me. I discovered how much i enjoy ice cream and chocolate :p ! Why oh why are all the good foods so bad for you!!!!

Anyway thanks for stopping by and please continue to do so :) I'll search for your journal as well and we can keep each other company on this journey :)

You're right. there is no two ways about this. WE WILL LOSE THIS WEIGHT! ...and keep it off this time around!!

Am in the same boat Owl, nightrunner- tis like i my mind was totally shut off when I was gaining all those weight these last few months. Whatever was put in front of me, I ate and forgot the fact that the older you get the worse your metabolism gets.

Nightrunner- wouldn't beat myself about not getting up in the morning. You are getting plenty exercise in the evenings, so yay!!!

How's your weekend going?
