Scared out of my mind

Hey nightrunner,

I think you are doing so well with your eating and exercising and also having to fit it into all the study you have to do. Well done.

I'm sure the scales will show some results next week. I often have a loss one week and nothing the next. It's so hard not to be undermined.

Anyway, lets get drinking water!!!

Ana

Now look who's MIA!! :)

We miss u chica. Pls come back! Hope school is not too stressful.

aww thanks for stopping by ladies :) i miss you!!
school is ok-i have group projects for all my classes which is stressing me out like you wouldnt believe. i REALLY dislike writing group papers....*sigh*

anyway the weekend was really bad-i mean really bad. i think it started with me sleeping at 4am on friday night...not going to step class and then not going for my run on sunday morning....

eating wasnt any better-total binge on breads and cookies. what was wrong with me i dont know. Anyway monday was better. i didnt get a workout in by i did better with my eating. Today's eating is also better but again no workout :willy_nilly:

i really want to keep up with my runs but it looks like my week will be off-anyway i plan on starting week 5 tom - it doesnt help thats its been cold and raining for the past week-my warm bed is much more appealing

:seeya:Hi Nightrunner, just poping in to say hi.
Looks like you are doing great - don't stress about the number on the scale - next week it will be down if you keep it up!
I don't really have too many ideas about packing lunches - I also put lots of stuff in my salads so they don't get boring - chick peas, black olives, craisins, shredded carrot, snow peas, corn, tuna, left over chicken, or hard boiled egg whites - I throw the yolk out because I don't really like it and the whites are better for you. Or I like sandwiches with ff deli meat, tuna or salmon - cut up some yum, yums or green olives and mix with light mayo and fish.
I've been really liking these all bran buds pouch's that are only 70cals and I have one with yogurt and it really gets things moving and keeps me regular :) There are tons of thinsations 100cal packs out there now that you can get for a small snack.
Dill pickles are really healthy too and I like to bring those - I just made 18 jars and am waiting for them to be ready - I can't wait!
If I think of anything else I will let you know - oh coleslaw is good too and very filling.
Anyway have a great weekend and I'll check back on Monday! Cheers!

wow thanks for your suggestions girl-and great headshot by the way :)

i have been buying granola bars-nature valley i think they're called-and munching on those and fruit throughout the day while at school. Its so hard to get a decent meal in. i feel like im only eating snacks all day...probably why i had a total binge fest last weekend. I need to get regular with my meals

That is so me re: scales not moving down. It is quite frustrating.

We have to have the weigh-ins done for the halloween challenge, but otherwise i a sticking to measurements (as suggested by core elements suggested on my journal). The only problem is, I think I am not doing it the right way, but I am sure it is quite easy to figure out and I just haven't been able to.

TGIF, eh?

I have a loong weekend off, so gonna be checking in more frequently.

Don't worry about the scales, nightrunner. You are so disciplined and are doing really well. I am sure you feel like a million bucks otherwise so screw the scales (easier said than done, I know, but I am trying really hard to believe it too- lets motivate each other, k?)

Hugs,
Juni

thanks for the hug juni-i totally need one right now...i have this massive headache due to caffiene withdrawl. I have been drinking tea with lemon and honey like its nobody's business for the past two weeks to fight my cold-its finally gone-but now i feel like i need a caffiene fix.

im so scared to weigh myself this friday since ive had a bad eating weekend and didnt get any workouts in...

new week means new start though right?! we will get back on track!

Ana

Thanks for stopping by Ana :) ive been trying to drink at least a litre of water a day but i always fall a bit short...

thanks for your encouraging words....hopefully the scale wont be too disappointing on friday

Nightrunner, if you are thinking about increasing your water intake maybe you can try this (one litre a day is not much, I think).

I have one litre Nalgene bottle. I fill it up at night and put it by my bedside. I usually wake up once to go to the bathroom, and when I come back, I take a biiiig gulp. If I don't wake up, one litre of water is waiting for me in the morning so I drink half of it, stretch and then drink half litre again before I head out for a run. Make sure you go pee first before you head out to run. :)

Then when i come back I drink another half litre (as I check wlf, email) in the morning. Not in one go but slowly. So by the time I have left for work, I would at least have one and half litres out of the way. I fill up the Nalgene bottle and drink the rest throughout the day. Also eat lots of cucumbers and watermelon, which is fullll of water. If you don't like the taste of water, ad a little bit of mint leaves (if you like the flavour), lime or lemon. Try and see if it works.

Of course I don't always get 3 litres into my system everyday, but I always drink two litres for sure. It makes a huuuuge difference when you drink enough water- skin clears up, you feel lighter etc etc.

Good luck, chica. And I am so glad you are back.

Hey NR,

I just can't go down the road of quiting caffeine... good on you!!!
and I'm a rubbish water drinker too! I might have a go at Juni's idea too.

Have a good rest of the week.

:waving: Hi NR,
Glad to see you haven't been doing too bad! I think we all had bad weekends so don't beat yourself up - It made me feel better to know I wasn't the only one who cheated, a bit too much. My weigh-in is this afternoon so I'll let you know how much damage I've done. Hopefully I will get lucky like last week and still be down 1 pound.
I hated group projects more than anything in University and I always got stuck with the kids who skipped class and never showed up to the group meetings - it was the worst. I don't think it taught me anything either - just that you can't count on others. Good luck with that.
Keep it up and the week will get easier! We will do better this weekend! Stay positive!

So how come you haven't updated your journal? :) Are you feeling unmotivated because you've hit a plateau? I know the feeling all too well. But someone in the forum wrote (which I read just now), that we are gonna hit these bumps many times along the way, the point is to stick with it, whether you see the results or not.

IMO, as humans we tend to just give up when we don't see results (which is why healthy eating has got such bad rep), but lets stick with the plan we have for us, Nightrunner. Weightloss is not bigger than us. If thousands have been able to do it, so can we. Lets not let weight and food win us- we can totally control it. :) Plus, we are not alone in this. We can do this.

Come back!!

yeah uh huh

Yeah maybe this is why my skin cleared up in Greece i drank about a whole nalgene of water every day - 64 oz. I did sneak some soda but very little.

Thanks to JUNI and NR for posts. Let us know how you're doing and stuff.

Ash:toetap05: :svengo: :drool5: :smilielol5: :auto: bye!

I hear ya on the plateau thing. I was out and totally unmotivated last week but I kept at it. I did weigh myself on Friday and saw that I haven't gained, but I am not touching the scales for another week. So yes, good idea not to weigh yourself until u feel ready. Plus scales are so ridiculous anyway. Yep, drink lotsa water and come back and do c25k with us!! We can do this, NR.

Hey NR,

I've had a few pretty bad days eating and not exercising, so I'm back into it today. I'm not going to weigh again till Friday for the challenge... sounds like what you said you're doing too eh?

I started c25k week 4 today (was meant to start last thu... oops) , man its a bit of a challenge doin the 5 min... eek, soon we'll be able to run for 30min though!!!! that'll be cool

Good luck with week 5.

Ana

Heya NR -

Good call about the scale. :D.

Too bad about getting bad groupmates. I purchased a book by Alfie Kohn about this very subject how schools are formatted to force children to compete against each other rather than cooperate toward a common goal, I am very interested to see whether schools in the future can be quite different. Here's the title: The Schools Our Children Deserve: Moving Beyond Traditional Classrooms. in case you're interested.

OH AND I don't know if this happens to everyone but when I saw that you wrote :

when im in the workplace the people i work with will have the same goal

I sort of laughed because where I used to work the girls were oh so catty and cutthroat. Hopefully though, this wont happen to you. I hope it doesnt! But if it does, dont be too surprised or let down, and dont let them get to you...."You have to suffer the people" my dad says.

Anaaaa i gained! technically i shouldnt be suprised since ive been really lacking in the workout department- *sigh* i guess im not eating as healthy as i should be

way to go on being in week 4!! i ran last sat and mon but havent ran since-hopefully ill get a run in today. I will probably be starting repeating week 4. I had tried week 5 but it was too hard. Probably because i had gone so long without a workout-my endurance suffered

anyway hopefully ill be able to get back on track now...

Thanks for the book title Ash :)

now that i think about it, you're right, in the workplace it would make sense that everyone would be so much more competitive since everyone wants that promotion...

so i suppose i should make the most of these school days since it doesnt seem like its going to get much better...
