Saturday here in Shenyang! I started the day with 3 hours of Chinese, then took a break. Getting ready to go down and exercise now...It's been a good week..my mantra.."enjoying the process, (good heath decisions) forget about product "(weightloss) will come! This morning, I wanted to get on the scale...but I kept off, remembering my rule..no weigh-in for 30 days. I'm going to make it easy on my self and weigh-in on the first of each month. It creeped on...it will creep off!
Forgive me for not posting on others wall yet...I need some time to learn how to do this on a tablet instead of a computer!

Good choices to all!

Hi Sarah :) Flexitime is great. I hope that is introduced for your sake. Well done on a good week xo
You are right Cate..we'll get it probably in a few months. Then I'll have a choice...where do I put Chinese class! I'll decide that when it comes!

Sunday morning in Shenyang and I have had a peaceful morning, had a nice exercise period of 50 min on the elliptical; and then walked up 20 flights of stairs . I live in a hotel and the fitness center is on the 8th floor, and I live on the 28th..so after the workout, I am now taking the steps back up to our apartment.
Food choices are ok, and I'm feeling good.
Work is going well. My husband's cancer is inoperable. The good news is , that it's slow growing, the bad news is, it is growing and chemo isn't an option either...so nutrition and exercise and alternative/chinese medicines are our choices...so we do it together. He lost about 60 pounds.. but has recently started putting weight back on and his back hurts...which is statistically where his type of cancer spreads to...so of course I see him whincing with back pain and I worry. He has had a scan about 6 months ago and it didn't show any spread...so we were happy with that...and maybe now, it's just a pinched nerve or pulled muscle...actually I pray it's a normal aging thing..
Didn't mean to go into all of that, but I won't erase it now..it's my life, and I do my best to embrace it fully.

Good choices to all,
Sarah

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's back pain - stuff like that's annoying enough without constant worrying about what it might mean.
20 flights of stairs sound like a proper leg workout  Always good to get those large muscle groups active and burning more energy!

Thanks LaMaria, Sorry, I'm so late to get a reply...job is particularly busy right now. Thanks for your encouragement!

It's Saturday morning...up early, I have a commitment early this morning, then Chinese language class for 3 hours, then haircut and manicure...then hopefully I'll still have energy to exercise and then finally rest!
My food choices have been OK this week, no big dinners out, so relatively easy to stick to my plan. Wearing a suit today...a little tight still..I keep telling myself to enjoy the process (healthy food choices) and don't get wrapped up in the product (weight and how clothes fit!). I have not weighed since I started back this time...it's still tempting, but I'm keeping myself away from the scale just to keep me focused.
Thanks to everyone for your encouragement...I'm still getting used to the new layout on the forum and can't figure out how to do much of anything else other than post.

Happy Sunday to all. Today, I did my elliptical routine for 50 min, then did my steps. My food choices are ok I think. I am going to try to mix it up a bit. It with some tempeh, natto and tofu ( all plant based protein sources). Drinking lots of tea and water.
Good choices to all! Stay focused on the process and not on the product!

Well, it's Saturday morning...been a long week! Good food choices and not too many, so I can now start to feel my pants being less tight! I had an event yesterday where I needed to wear a business suit and I felt like it looked OK...still not a loose as I want it, but better than it was.
I just finished a big breakfast (didn't eat much at all yesterday due to this event, so I really was hungry!). The Natto during the week was OK, but not my favorite. The tofu was good (that all depends on the type of sauce you put on it!) Something different than eggs for protien, so not complaining.
I will take my Chinese lesson this morning for 3 hours, then exercise this afternoon...life is good.

Good choices to all!
Sarah

I don't think I've ever heard of natto, must google when I get home :)
It's a type of fermented soybean...not a bad taste, but I find the texture a bit slimy. From what I understand the Japanese eat it a lot for breakfast...that would take some getting used to for me!

Yay for looking good in a business suit!

I love warm breakfasts and will eat any dinner item right after getting up but sadly my stomach can´t handle fermented stuff. Or soy, for that matter. I´m pretty sure I tried natto once, though: a friend´s Japanese mom sent her some and she shared. Interesting taste, but not bad at all.

Thanks Lama! It is somewhat an acquired taste...and I'm not completely a convert yet! I do. To believe the traditional SAD (Standard American Diet) is healthy for any meal...especially breakfast with all the cereals, high Sugar fruit drinks and bread. My breakfasts are typically an egg, a bowl of green vegetable soup, a bowl of fruit (whatever is in season...right now strawberries ) and sometimes, a slice of steamed pumpkin with a few walnut halves. Lunch is another egg, steamed vegetables or maybe a veggie cabbage roll, maybe some tofu and a serving of fruit. I eat a salad with natto beans late afternoon and a few almonds or walnuts. (Still nothing but tea or water after 6:00). I will weigh on the 1st of the month, but I know it's working because I could feel it in the clothes! Thanks again for your encouragement!

It's Sunday evening...another weekend gone . I was able to exercise as planned this weekend...50 min each day on the elliptical. And took the stairs from 8 to 28 each day, so feeling good about that. My food choices were ok too. Always nice to have a special treat on the weekend to have some vegetable dumplings...too good to be good for me!
This week will be busy, and then on Friday, I take a mini vacation with my chinese friends...4 days...this might be crazy! A mother and daughter and me...my husband and the father are both staying home...this is a first. If I don't go crazy, it will be fun to be a tourist along side of Chinese tourists! Not sure about my food options...I will handle that when it comes!

I can't imagine going up 20 flights of stairs!! That is awesome!! Enjoy your mini vacation!

Back from my vacation and had a good time...lots of climbing and hiking to see some beautiful places. June 1st and that means weigh in time: 85.8kg; that means 0.2kg loss in May. It's obviously less than I thought, but the scale does not lie, so I accept it. I do know the clothes' are fitting better, so I have other feedback that is telling me I'm doing the right thing! I keep it going!
