Hey Sarah, I have just read your blog post about your weight! WOW! Well done!! I am so happy for you!
You seem super determined to keep it off too! Way to go!!

& Well done on the half marathon! What a great achievement! Now are you gonna do a whole marathon!! You are such an inspiration!!!

ps/ I think you might have addressed me on Camila's thread - as I was the last poster - i don't think it was intentional,
I am actually doing really great - on my second juice fast this year. I lost 30lbs since January.

Well done for getting to goal weight.
That is a brilliant accomplishment.

I checked out the blog and loved the pictures of how you have slimmed down through your project.

Well done for the half marathon too. You really do look and act like a different person.

Hello everyone! Well, it's been a month at maintaining...and so far so good! I've kept up my exercise regime and aside from picking up some extra 'healthy fats' along the way, I've pretty much maintained all the rules. With this post, I'm officially closing out my thread here...it's been a very helpful forum and I still plan to stop in and give some encouragement along...Lord knows, several people have done that for me over the months/years I've been on here!
For anyone who is on the fence on whether to day or go...stay...stay on your journey and stay with losing the weight...it is so worth it! For those who have kept up with me, you know I don't wish you good luck..I wish you good choices...for it is all about the choices we make...those choices deliver consequences...good and bad...simple as that!
Sarah

Hello, I'm back again after a long absence. It's been 4 years since I met my goal, and now I'm back. I've put on about 30 pounds and I started back on most of my original rules: 1) no sweets (still having more fruit than I should), 2) no eating after 6 (doing ok on this except on nights when I have obligatory company dinners 3) exercise every day (a new work schedule has forced me to change my schedule, and this has resulted in not being able to do this, which I think has been the biggest reason for the weight going back on) 4) low carb (due to a change in my husbands health status (he has cancer, and is now a vegetarian, I have also converted because it makes food choices easier, so I have added more carbs, which has also contributed to extra weight) 5) o soda, even diet (still on this, I'm convinced that diet soda is one of the worst things for my health! I still plan to weigh only on the 1st of the month. I'm glad the forum is still active and my account is still here!

Hey, Sarah :D :D :D
I'm so sorry that your husband has cancer. It sucks! Sending you a great big hug Sarah :grouphug:
Cutting out meat must make it really hard for you to fill up, without adding lots of calories. I really rely on lean meat to fill me up. Giving up diet soda altogether is in my plan now too. I'm certain it is really bad for our health.
I have to go as a sheep is in our house garden(again!). It belongs to our neighbour & keeps coming back, again & again. I'll have to take it for a walk(again) & shut our gate. It just jumps right over both cattle grids. It thinks it's a goat I think!
Lovely having you back Sarah xoxo

Good to be back Cate! A lot has happened over the past 4 years..still in China, husband has cancer, passed Chinese language proficiency test (that sucked up even more exercise time!) and got my plant up and running and got a promotion. Not nearly as much travel now and life is settling into somewhat of a routine...so I decided, after my clothes were getting too tight, it's time!

Today, 1 May, I did the weight-in: 86 kg. That is about 9 kg over what I was at my goal weight of 169 pounds (I think I haven't done the conversion!). My scale now is in kg, so I'll just use that!

Hi Sarah and welcome (back) to the forum. I wasn't here yet in 2013 but it's nice to see people stay or come back here for years.
So sorry to hear about your husband's health.
Best of luck, LaMa.

Thanks La Maria! Life happens..and I really appreciate the warm welcome! I always enjoyed this forum and I think I can contribute again as well as learn from all of you all! Thanks again!

Today is 1st of May, Labor Day and a holiday here in China. I was able to have a leisurely wake up, exercise and relax a bit. I started the day with a Chinese lesson..most of the time I like this...I have got to watch my attitude though..im to the point now where I can read and my teacher is Helping menlear to read aloud...and it is painful to learn to read aloud..I want to be fluent and perfect right now!!!...like a lot of other goals in my life..like weight loss! I have to remember to focus on the process not the product! I have to learn to Enjoy the miracle that a 56 year old woman can learn to read and write And speak Chinese...and not beat myself up everyday for sounding so bad (and stop wasting energy on these judgements!) My husband reminded me that as a child I didn't beat myself up when I was learning to speak and read English...why do it now as an adult? Of course he is right! It's the same philosophy with weight loss..I am determined to focus on the moment..remembering that I own each choice I make about the food I eat and that with the health challenges in my family, I must focus on good healthy choices..each meal, each day, and when I do this (focus on the process), then I will lose weight automatically over time. (The product will come by itself).

Breakfast:
2 fried eggs
A heap of Grilled green beans with onion/soy sauce
Bowl of Boiled vegetable soup with soy
Banana
Some peanuts

Lunch:
5 veggie and egg dumplings
2 eggs
California mix vegetables
Boiled asparagus

Dinner (before 6)
Green salad with lettuce apples, walnuts fresh pineapple, cherry tomatoes, no dressing.

Through the day: hot green tea.

Exercise:
50 minutes on elliptical

Looking over what I eat today, it's clear, too much fruit..I need to cut back on this form of sugar!

I'm happy to be back on the forum! Thanks to all of the moderators for keeping it going and holding my account for me even though I was absent so long!

Good choices to you all!

Yeah, the socialists are marching on the parliament from all sides (round city center with streets radiating outward every which way). Small marching bands everywhere, gradually merging; I like May Day :)

3 May 2017
Back to work yesterday, and no time to exercise...or rather I should be honest, when I got home at 7:15 pm, I just didn't take the time to change clothes and go exercise.. it is my choice.
Eating I did ok
I tried on a shirt from last summer and it was tight...I hate that...1 more reason to stay with the program. I am making healthy choices today!I am enjoying the process, and will not focus on the product!
Good choices to all!

Thanks LaMaria! I also like May Day...mainly because it's a relaxing day off!

May Day is another day we don't celebrate. I like the idea of May Day. Glad you got an extra day off Sarah. Boo to clothes being tight. You'll fix that!

I'm sorry to hear about your husband having cancer. I hope that his health improves soon.

I'm sorry you've gained some weight - but it is good to see you back.
I also was pleased to see the forum still here when I came back a month or so ago.

We'll get back to where we want to be together.:grouphug:

Good morning world! It's Friday here in Shenyang, China!I have to do some banking this morning, so Iwill go to work later...which meant that I could exercise as I used to ...50 minutes on the elliptical..feels so good! I think we'll be going to flextime at work soon, so hopefully that will mean, I can go in a little later and get my "me time" back! For the past year "me time" has been spent studying Chinese..let me tell you for a 56 year old, that's a challenge! I managed to pass HSK3 (there are 6 levels...6 being proficient like a Chinese lawyer (no desire to go to that level!). I'm currently studying for level 4..and that's probably where I'll stop..reading, writing and speaking takes a lot of energy!

Doing well with my food choices this week. I'm managed to stick to my plan...still eating too many fruit servings I think. My portions are OK and my total food each day is OK..something I can maintain. I'm consuming many cups of camomile tea in the evenings (green tea is great for the morning for me, but keeps me wired awake at night!)
Good choices to all!
Sarah
