Hey Sarah!

Glad to see your foot is better. I hope you trip in Paris is going wonderfully. I've always wanted to go there. In fact, our bedroom is all decked out in a Paris theme! :) Glad to hear about the new hotel. Are you going to take advantage of that pool? Bet it would work some muscles you didn't think you had!

Can't wait to here the report back from your trip! :)

Hey Sarah!

Hope Paris is going well. That is so exciting about your move...best wishes to you with that! I would love to go to China someday, especially to try their cuisine. Here in the States our "Chinese" food is of course...well more American than Chinese. Oh well. Are you and your husband over there permanently? Such a fascinating life! :)

Safe travels!

Hello everyone! Paris was great...just great! I went shopping at the big flea market one day, and actually found a real Chanel coat in a vintage clothing place that fit me like a glove...and at a good price...then i went back to retail and bought some new thi gs at Galleries Lafayette (big department store there) and bought a dress and some new slacks..these were in size 44 France, which translates to a size 12 in the US! Pretty happy about my buys...when I actually get home, I'll get some photos and post them...right now, I'm in the airport!
I ate a lot while there, but I also walked and ran a lot..so I think it will even out. I'm looking forward to getting back to a routine and my "normal' foods. I was able to see a lot of work colleagues I hadn't seen in at least a couple of years..and many of them didn't recognize me until I spoke! That was fun!!

Cate, yes..it's my new healthy reminder!
Munch, Paris is definitely a must do in your life! I love the city and although I don't know it perfectly, I so know it well enough to get around, and speaking the language doesn't hurt either! I have to stay away from the bread though...it helped me put on a lot of weight when I was there from 1997-2001.
Camila, yes, my husband and I live here..we've been in China for 3 years, and probably another 2-3 to go. I'm project leader for building then running a big manufacturing plant, and although it might sound "exciting", it's also a lot of not so glamorous moments...of course I don't write much about them!
Well, I'll have to get caught up on your diarys when I get some time at home!
In the mean time, I wish you all good choices! We can do it!
Sarah

It's Wednesday, and I"m over jet lag and actually sleeping better these days! I am now taking a magnesium supplement and dabbing on a little bit of progesterone cream before bed...it's not 100% effective against the menopause symptoms, but I am sleeping better!
Eating wise, I'm doing OK, still maintaining as I prepare for the marathon...and exercise..doing ok, foot still bothers me a little, but not too much ( magnesium I think is helping that too), and motivation is good...happy about clothes purchases in Paris, and the way I'm looking. I listened to fat2fitradio this morning and it was inspiring as usual, and pumped me up to do some lifting when I get done with the marathon training. The marathon is on 1 May...wish me a good, healthy run ya'll...I will need it!!
Good choices to you all!
Sarah

Hey Sarah!! Clothes from Paris sound lush!! Great motivation.
I am glad you found something that helps you sleep better. i can't believe the marathon is so close already!
Well done on exercise/eating ok. Good luck with the prep! You gonna do amazing!

Glad you're sleeping better! I'm so jealous of your marathons. One day I'd like to be able to do long runs of some distance. I don't even jog right now because it hurts my knees.

It's Thursday...been overcome by events lately...life happens!
Lots of dinners lately... Taking water with me these days. More later..doing ok... Ready for the marathon to be done with... God bless the people of Boston...makes me sick.
Good choices to all!

Better now since I've had a break on the weekend! Had a good run on Saturday, then today did my 60 min on the elliptical...and ate well this weekend. I haven't lost weight, and may have gained some (havnt weighed, and probably not going to until after the big race). I have been trying to make sure I have enough reserves to get through this race ! I am pretty sure I am continuing to lose some fat as my clothese continue to be loose, so I am ok with that.
I am going to publish an entry on my blog about the weightloss journey in China over theist 2 years, then I will likely stop these entries, and continue to keep up to date on all the ones who have been so encouraging on here. I will see how I feel then.
Good choices to all!

Sarah

Hi Sarah, Just a quick hello before I head off tomorrow. Your journey was & is an inspiring one. You continue to set such a great example for everyone. I hope you stick around here & post from time to time. All the best Sarah & I'll catch up with you when i get back, xoxo Cate

Hey Sarah, you seem to be doing well. Sounds like you are gianing muscles! When is the big race again?
Have a fab day!

Hello all,
Sorry I've been absent...been working alot, then getting ready to move from this hotel to the new one...and yes, Feelinggooder, well into my taper. I did not run this weekend,..just went to my old friend the elliptical. I've been loading up on good carbs (vegetables, no pasta or breads), good fats (walnuts and real butter) and some fruits (apples, strawberries, the occasional banana). I think I'm ready for this big ole run...26.2 (42km) miles is one thing...but out of the 42 km, 32km is actually on the Great Wall...up and down steps...20000 steps coming my way. I have 8 hours to finish it, so I will do it...even if I have to crawl off! I weighed the other morning and I'm 170.4...so up a pound from a month ago...but I know now that it is normal fluctuation. My husband made the statement that he didn't want to lose any more weight...I'm still about 25 pounds from my original goal...but here officially, I'm revising my goal to be 163 instead of 143. That is another 7 pounds...so after this race, I'll concentrate on that! For now, it's all about the run...after that, it's all about recuperation!
Good choices to all!

Sarah

Hello all! Well, I completed the 1/2 marathon on the Great Wall of China. I signed up for the full one, but just couldn't do it...long story, but suffice to say, it kicked my butt! I'm creating a blog entry about this race...the toughest thing I have ever done in my life!! Bar nothing!
Pictures later...soreView attachment 20676, sore sore today!

Well done Sarah!! 13.1 miles up and down the Great Wall is an amazing accomplishment. Can't wait for the full race report so when you get it posted be sure to let us know.

Hello all,
Here is my blog report on the Great Wall...what a grueling race!:

To top that off, when I got back to Shenyang, I got some sort of stomach bug, and I think my electrolytes got out of balance...to make a long story short, I havnt had an appetite since I got back,(that has never ever happened to me in my life...ever!) and I've lost 9 pounds in 6 days...not the way I wanted to get to my new goal weight of 163. I had to get an IV today of saline solution and I have to go back to the dr tomorrow...all of that to say, I'm on the mend, but not well yet. The most bizarre thing, when I got done wight he IV, I had an appetite and the only thing I wanted was a McDonald's fish sandwich...now I havnt had one of those in years...bit today, I had 2...so far so good. When I get straightened out, back to my good choices!
Good choices to all!

Sarah

Greetings all,
I've been sick all week, as I mentioned in my previous blog...but getting back to normal. I will workout tomorrow again for the first time since getting back to Shenyang. I've regained some of the weight I lost when I was sick...and that's OK...I'm healthy now and that's a big deal!

Today I worked on a weighloss transformation story for my blog...and I've now published it. Check it out at:

I wrote it to keep myself honest and accountable...it's my intention to maintain this weight at +/- 5 pounds and maintain healthy choices from now on. I will stay on here and visit your diaries now that I'm healthy again and continue to get inspired by you and maybe even give some of you some encouragement!

Good choices to all!
Sarah

Hey Sarah, caught your marathon report and that definitely looks like a non-standard marathon if ever there's been one. Looks beautiful, scary and extreme all at once.
Congrats on hitting the goal weight although, getting sick to drop the last 7 pounds is kinda cheatin' ;)
