Greetings all!
I am back from my glorious 3 week vacation...a cruise to Australia and New Zealand..what a wonderful trip. I havn't weighed yet...I guess I'll do that tomorrow morning...I'm sure I didn't lose, but not sure I gained too much since I ate healthy (although lots of it) and stayed very active in the fitness center and running when we had time in the ports. it was so clean and warm compared to China right now and it was so very nice...ahh...now back to reality!
Back to reality tomorrow.argh!!
It will take me a few days to get back in the groove...so bare with me!
Sarah

Well, I weighed in today..174, so I gained 2 pounds. From when I left, considering all I ate, I consider that good news. Even better is that mt %body fat went down a % down to 35.1%... Still sounds and looks too high, but a far piece from where I started and a point drop from even 6 months ago, so I think the exercise and occasional weight work and the stairs..yes, the wonderful opportunity (tounge in cheek) to climb stairs is helping me to gain muscle but unfortunately, not lose pounds overall right now. My clothes fit fine so I guess I shouldn't sweat it. I remember previous cruises where I intentionally took big clothes so ht I could eat to my hearts content...and boy did I! This time, I didn't feel deprived, I ate heathy choices and I ate a lot... And I exercise a lot..sometimes when "at sea" I exercised 2 times in the same day...felt so good!
I will have to do mt long run this weekend...been focusing on steps and hills for the past 3 weeks, mainly on the treadmill, so this weekend will be a good test to see my endurance!

Hey Maryann,
I did see a koala and even got to let some kangaroos! Yes, I am ready to get back to work as bizarre as that sounds...and ready to get back in a good eating routine...!

Good choices to us all!!

Sarah

Greetings everyone and trust everyone is having a great February...can you believe next week will be March? It's amazing but true!
I'm almost getting into a good routine again on eating...yesterday, I was hungry all day...I think it came from eating at will on the cruise and now getting to eat at my normal time here at work...today was somewhat better but still hungry even as I type this...and I ate an apple, had some walnuts and a can of tuna tonight after work!
I have started again exercising at my normal 5:00am time in the fitness center and trying to use that as the way to beat the jetlag...it's not too bad this time (better than from Europe or US), but still noticable. I have a long run coming up this weekend in the marathon prep, so trying to get psyched up for that!

Cate, yes, 2 pounds is not too bad for a 3 week extravaganza in your part of the world! By the way, the wood on the box is huon pine and Sasafrass! I love it!

Brawny, Good to see you on here again! I am well!

Well, not much else going on here...
Good choices to all!

sarah

Hi Sarah, It's nice having you back! Huon Pine & Black Heart Sassafras would be very nice indeed. It sounds like a good memento of our State. I'm sure there are not many people who could go on a 3 week cruise & only gain 2lbs. I think you have done incredibly well! Cheers xo Cate

Sarah, I'm new here, so you probably haven't seen me around. I read a bit of your diary. I think it's pretty amazing that you managed to go on vacation and only gain two pounds. It's also good you're getting back to the routine. A lot of people struggle with that when they come back from a vacation. Keep up the good work!

Hey Sarah - I hear you on the "hungry".... no one seems to mention it much on here... was wondering if my "hungry" is just turned-up too high..& I feel it lots more than anyone else...?

...wonder if hungry is just a natural part of eating below-maintenance calories...and if at maintenance calories- there is NO Hunger?... can hardly wait...

..at any rate - your snak sounds good -fibre, healthy fat & protein- great combo

glad to hear U are back at it with the 5am in your fittness centre- bet that longer-training run this weekend is good motivation for ya... .. I know when I signed up for a charity walk last year- it definately was a good motivator to get prepared...

Happy training Sarah,

cheers, Maryann

Well, I weighed in yesterday and was pleased to see 171 and 35.1% bodyfat...that means I've taken off the weight from the cruise and my body fat is a full 1 percent down!! Woot woot!! I did the elliptical for 30 min and then ran for 20 min and then did the steps for 3rd floor up to 21st floor and back down to my home floor on the 12th..feeling good about that! My eating is about back to my normal here in China but my gut and digestive track is still not quite stable yet...maybe why my weight went up and down so much in a week!
My motivation is good...my size 12 pants fit well (but so do the 14p) so I'm pretty happy about that, and I 'm feeling good Bout how I look and feel, and actually am looking forward to my long ru. This weekend!
Cate, I thin you're right...maybe it's the Pples making me so hungry! Better lay off them at night!
Maryann, thanks for your encouragement...you always have such positive posts! I also don't know why I don't see much about hungry on here...it sure is a fact of life for me, especially in the evening.

Cory, thanks for stopping by my diary! Stick with it girl, and you will get there! It's a journey, not a race!

Well, gotta go get my beauty rest and make it a great Friday!
Good choices to you all!

Hey Sarah - good work on getting rid of the cruise-vacation weight !
& nice to hear I am not the only hungry-gal around here ...!

- good luck for your longer-run this weekend...

cheers, Maryann

Hey, just checking in - you are doing great! :)

I can't believe how well you did during your holiday!!! You made some conscious choices..hard one for me!
It seems like you started your diet when I left off mine (June 2011)
/I was 200 then...aiming for 180...ugh...I was 273 this Jan 2013...and now aiming 180 again.../

Well keep up the good work!!

Greetings all! Just now recuperating from my "long run" today was 27k or 17 miles...gotta admit that one whipped me today. I probably shouldn't have done it...I ended up catching some sort of GI bug and started on antibiotic yesterday, and it has had immediate impact...but I still had 2 bouts of diarrhea this morning before the run. Good nes is I didn't have to"go" during the run, but, I ended up getting a little dehydrated I think..I was chugging water early on, along with 2 small banana's mid run, and I still ran out of gas at the end! And this was all flat!!! I can't imagine doing this on the Great Wall today...steps and hills and 9 more miles than I did today...argh...gotta keep training up! I took my walk breaks and got back home, took a hot bath, and eventually got something to eat and feeling pretty good now!
Maryann, you just keep amazing me! Zumba is working for you!! I'm so happy for you and proud of your persistence and continued success!

Brawny, I did have to do some Chinese New Year toasts...but since I left China during the height of dinners, I did manage to avoid them! I still keep my watered down peach nectar solution handy, thanks to you!

Justina, so glad you stopped in! I started my journey at about the same weight as you were in January...for me that was back in June 2011...and now I'm around 171, so just under the goal you've set...so you see it is possible...it takes time, persistence, stick-to-itedness, and one good choice after the other...trust me I haven't done perfectly...far from it, but I have decided this is my lifestyle, not a "diet", it's not a race, it's a journey, and my body will find it's right weight as long as I continue to eat nutritious foods, very few processed foods, including sweets, no sodas(including no diet sodas), and low carbs (most carbs from vegetables, not breads or pastas)...and of course exercising every day! You can do it..but it will take time...and it will be so worth it! You're already down 14 pounds...you go girl!

Well, that's about it for today! Planning to veg out the rest of the day...if I can ever get out of this chair!

Good choices to all!
Sarah

Hey Sarah - congrats on the 27K run today - despite the stomach bug & so soon after your vacation - great work ! .. and you will be fine for the Great wall run- just do your training plan,,, it will come...

& I am suprising myself with my persistance - I am at this about 7 months now -but the alternative - to have stayed at my old weight- and likely have gained more yet - had me headed for health disaster... am so glad I started this journey... and although my trail is slow - I am moving gradually in the right direction - and already feel so much better for it. :)

Hope you have a lovely weekend Sarah....
keep on doing your amazing work - for yourself, and for inspiring the rest of us too ! ;)

Sarah, be careful! Being sick like that can get you dehydrated really easily. Also, 17 miles is really impressive. I doubt I could go 2!
