Sorry to hear about your foot Scbibhouse. Rest and get back to fighting shape! Enjoy the week off and take advantage of the beach. I hear workouts on the beach can be pretty intense due to the sand, so maybe you could try some kind of workout while you're there. As always can't wait to hear about it when you get back! :)

Good morning all,

Thanks Brawny, Munch and MaryannC! Brawny, I love your "let the concrete dry" analogy, and yes, I'm still doing pushups..not every day like I was doing there for awhile, but I did 40 of them yesterday! Cate & Munch, I do have a plan for exercise while I'm away...a beach walk at dawn or dusk is calling my name! I'm very fair skinned, so I don't do sun bathing or tanning, but I do enjoy the sound and feel of the ocean breezed and waves crashing in!

Today, I did my first HIIT (thanks Feelinggooder!) on the elliptical...instead of my normal chug along, I did 25 minutes, but at various levels of intensity for 2-3 minutes at a time...worked up a good sweat and I think my foot is getting better...still seems to be a little sore, so I'm not going to push it. Then did 20 minutes on the rowing machine, then 3 x 10 chest presses.

This has been another cram packed week at work...I'm so ready for a break! It's Thursday morning as I type this, so still several more things to get done before I go.

Good choices to all!

Sarah

Hey Sarah - hope U have a wonderful beach vacation - those beach walks will be so good ! ( following Your RULE of DAILY exercise..... so smart - even on vacation ! )

cheers,

hope it's lots of fun & R&R ,

Maryann C.

Intervals on the elliptical are amazing. I did them last night when I worked out and it seemed like I worked up more of a sweat than normal. I plan on doing it again tonight, but only this time with some higher intensity. I know why you love the elliptical scbibhouse. I'm to the point where I'm looking forward to getting on that thing! :) Again, have a great time! :)

Well, I wrote one post, then lost it...must not have been what I supposed to say, so here I go again! Thanks Munch and Maryannc for your encouragement! Munch, yes the interval training was good...did it again this morning, this time for 60 minutes, then did the rower for 5 minutes to give me a good stretch. It's been a nice calm day of packing and just relaxing, getting ready to fly out tomorrow...and yes, I do have my exercise clothes with me...looking forward to some walking on the beach and working out in the high end fitness center!

Today I weighed in..175.4..so not much loss over the week, but I'll take all I can get! I updated my signature today...and I realized that my math was wrong...I've lost 94 pounds not 104...I guess a little presumptuous on those next 10 pounds..or wishful thinking! I'll get there, just not there yet!

I will probably not be on here much over the next week, so I wish you all good choices and much success...let's make it a great week..I'll catch up on everyone when I come back!

Sarah

Hey Sarah - hope your vacation is super ! have fun.

cheers,

Maryann .

AThanks Maryannc and Cate, and all others near and far!
Well, I have had a wonderful vacation...we will travel back to China tomorrow, so I'm going to enjoy my final day here in Seoul today. In Busan, I was very active and actually ran every day in a beautiful park by the ocean (gotta love all that fresh air and the sounds of the ocean waves hitting th rocks!), I ate pretty well too, slightly over my daily goal, but felt ok about that given my exercise level. Then I came to Seoul...I had a major over indulgence...nothing really bad, but way too much of it..started off with a big, really big breakfast buffet..omlets and ham...then was full all day, until the meal last night...2 trips to the salad bar with the best artichokes/hearts of palm salad, then some broccoli and walnut salad, and 1 piece of fried chicken...well...you get the idea. I logged it all into mfp and came out with a whopping 2600 cal day! Hadn't had one of those in forever! On top of that, I didn't exercise all day :gnorsi: i did have a lovely manicure, pedicure and reflexology foot massage...oh what a treat. Oh, and did I mention that I went to the leather tailor where I had 2 leather jackets made a year ago, and took them bak to have them taken up a bit? I did take them, and ended up ordering a new outfit (matching leather pants and jacket...now, how's that for self confidence going amuck!?...I think it will look good, so when I get it (he'll ship in a couple of weeks), I'll post a photo.! so, my big one day food party retail therapy and and pampering, I'm going to go go to the fitness center and start my day off right! Can't afford any more days like that one...neither in my wallet, nor on my belly!
I do feel good today..and after reading some posts on here today, I'm re-energized for my return to my work world and routine!

Good choices to everyone!
Sarah

Hey Sarah - so nice to hear from ya - missed U - sounds like your vacation is just wonderful -

safe trip back & looking forward to hear more details on the vacay ,

...& good work on all the exercise while away & the (mostly) healthy eating ! :p

cheers,

Maryann

Sounds like a very relaxing time and expect you're coming back invigorated and ready for another intense round of exercise.

Sorry to hear about the 10 pound setback on the total but have to admit that I'm completely relieved that I didn't miss congratulating you on reaching the 100 lb mark which I'm really looking forward to doing.

Keep on being the shining example to all of us and have a great weekend

AHey everyone, I'm back from vacation, and yes, invigorated! I got up this morning and went to the park for a run and knocked out a 14k! It is sunny and cool, and it just felt right, so I did a good distance. I weighed in today and I'm at 175.2 which is about what
I weighed last week before I left, so no big loss, no big gain (which is nice given I had at least one day of mega calories!) but I was super surprised that
My % body fat showed up at 33.2%...this is about 3% lower than it has ever been. I hope it's true, but really won't be sure until that is what it shows continuously for a while! If that number is true, it would mean that I meet the army weight standards...for the first time in a loooong time...at least by body fat standards...I will do my measurements next week, and using the army meld for determine body fat, I will see if that still holds. My main near term goal is to get to 165(I pound less that Army weight limit for my age...that's 10 pounds away now,and looking forward to it even more now!

I did have a lovey vacation by the way! I'll post some pics when I get to my normal computer..it's not easy on the iPad as my photos are on the computer not on a website.

Tomorrow I go on a business trip to Poland and Romania, so I will be out of touch again, so I hope to catch up on your diaries when I get back!

Good choices to all!

Sarah!

Hi Sarah!

Glad to hear you had a great time on your vacation. How interesting that the % changed but weight stayed the same. The body is such a complex machine! After reading about your "cheat" day I couldn't help but think about how many calories most of us used to eat before waking up to our realities. I was looking at a menu at a restaurant today and they had the calories after each item. I used to hate menus like that but today I found it very helpful in making my choice. Even with having a salad, though, it was almost 1,000 calories. Eeks! This is the ultimate test of self control and you have shown more control thank most of us! It's nice to know that the result of so much self control is our health and well being. I know you always say good choices but I think for me the motto is slightly altered to bad choices in moderation ;)

14K Wow! How great is that? My ultimate goal is to be able to do a 5K with my wife. My son who is 16 and 6'2" and 170 got up Sat. morning and ran 3 miles at a cross country meet (after playing a whole football game friday night) and ran the 3 mile hilly course in just over 20 minures. Thats his mother's genetics not mine.

ACongrats on the body fat % progress and getting so close to the army standards.

14k is awesome, you're almost ready for a half marathon already. Have one picked out yet?

AHey ya'll!
This has been one crazy week...a different city and different hotel each night of the week...I'm just now sitting in Bucharest airport getting ready to go back to China via Paris....my body doesn't know what time it is and it seems to always be hungry! Argh!!
I did manage to run 2 times this week, and hit 1 hotel fitness center, but these 2 days travel days coming and going make it darn near impossible to do any aerobi exercise..I'll be glad to get bak home !!

feelinggooder, Maryannc and Alice29, thanks for your encouragement...I'll catch up on your diaries when I get back!

Good choices to all!

AOk ya'll...I just have to share this...I just bought my first ever size 40 (French size) silk/wool sweater set...that translates to a size 10 US according to the size chart I just looked up...it can't be possible!! Part of me wants to believe it...part of me says no way...whatever, I love it, and when I get home, I'll post a photo...of course, may have to get some new slacks to show it off...it does make me look smaller...or was it a slimming mirror in the try it on room??
More later!
