Actually, you're both very inspiring -- Kate and scbibhouse as well!! I was inspired by you both this morning (and by a couple of other people as well  ). It's just great seeing all the brilliant people all over this site!!!

(Kate, when you said pink I thought you meant sc's newest photo!)

That is what I love about this forum...inspiration can be found all over. The members really make the experience here!

Sarah, you know me and my charts...I love how you put yours together. I kind of want to do something similar when I get a bit further down my path. Isn't it amazing to see how you've progressed??? And that was all done by YOU! You've made such a wonderful change for yourself and you should be so so so proud. I know all of us here are proud of you.

Congrats on your progress! I can't wait to see you get even further with your goal!

Have a great week!

~Ava

Hey Avatea and Nosparsnips! Thanks for your encouragement! You both are so right...we all thrive on each others encouragement and inspiration! Good times and bad, we can be ourselves...isn't that refreshing!

I took a day off yesterday from exercising...always good after the run on the weekend, and did OK food wise. today, I ran again on the treadmill...and now up to 30 pushups...not sure I'll go all the way to 50..it's getting really hard!

I will be on and off over the next 2 weeks as I have a business trip to the US, then a week of vacation coming up...so I'll try to catch everyone here and there...best thing I can tell you and remind myself...good choices!! it' all about making the next right choice!

Sarah

I hope your next few weeks of traveling are absolutely wonderful! So jealous of your vacation!!! Anyways, I know that we will all be thinking of you while you are away. And yes, positive choices!!

Safe travels, dears! Looking forward to hearing all about it when you return.

~Ava

Hey, great!! re the travels :hurray: Will you meet any of us on your trip?? Have a lovely time, wherever you go and whatever you do!!

scbibhouse! I'm sorry I've been gone so long, but thank you for checking on me! It means a lot. Glad to see you're doing well, as I knew you would be. Of course when I come back you're preparing to go on one of your trips, but we shall catch up once you're back to your normal schedule. I'm going to be looking to you for my motivation as always and I absolutely have to start knocking out these pushups to catch up to you! I hope everything is going well and can't wait to hear about your trips! :)

Wow, I disappear for a few weeks and when I get back you've turned into a push-up and running machine!!

Way to go with the amazing progress :hurray:

Hope you're having (or had) a great business trip/vacation.

Hi Sarah!

Sorry I have been so absent. So glad to see your continued progress and am so impressed and inspired by you! Keep up the amazing work!

Hi Sarah! Saw you were online so just thought I would say g'day! Hope your trip is going well xoxo Cate

AHello everyone! I'm here in Korea in the middle of the night, jet lagged, but at least now with hubby and ready for a stress free week after a tough work week in the US. I must say, it was good to be back home (although I'm pretty sure the scale won't think so) and I really enjoyed shopping with my sister for a day and she encouraged me to try on some size 14 slacks...and I did, and they fit! Of course I bought them! Then I tried on a pair of Levi's jeans in a 14...I havn't had size 14 of anything, especially not jeans since I was in high school (of course jeans are slightly different now, with that 1% stretch), but they fit slightly snug, so I bought them too, knowing that I won't wear them much in the summer, but in cold winter, they will feel good! I normally don't buy cloths that are snug, but I made an exception this time as I am not sure when I'll get that opportunity again...and did I mention they were a size 14.! Scale may not be moving, but I am losing my butt! The other thing I bought with my sisters encouragement was a short workout skirt with built-in shorts...looks like one of those preppy tennis outfits(I'll post a pic when I get back to China)... I have worn it several times to work out in...it does look so much better than the big baggy, sweat faded t shirts and worn out spandex compression shorts! I even wore it out tonight to a casual dinner...my husband loved the look, although I admit I felt a little self comscious!
I did pretty well on exercise while in the US...I walked and ran on the greenway down by the river.z..what a nice change of pace from China! Made me really miss the US. Eating...well, I did manage to stay away from my forbidden fruits, but all of the catered meals were not very diet friendly, so I'm not expecting to see a big drop this times...I will weigh in officially when I get hone. Speaking of weighing in, I got the new scale and fit bit I mentioned awhile bake, havn't started using them yet, so I'll do that when I get back home too.
I will catch up on all of your diaries when I get back home and get into a good routine. Thanks for all of your support...and thanks especially.for your continued motivational comments and inspiration...you all help me more than you know, and much more I'm sure than I help you...isn't this forum great like that?

Good choices to all!

Sarah

SIZE 14!! :party:Woot woot!!!! Great news Sarah!!

I can see the big smile on your face from here! Levis too! LOVE IT!!!!! I'm sure I'm not the only one thrilled to bits to hear your joy. You'll get rid of any excess (if there is any!) as soon as you get back because you are one very determined woman. Enjoy Korea with your LH xoxo Cate

Go scbibhouse!!!! Size 14!!!!! I'm so proud of you! They'll be baggy on you in no time and you'll be getting them altered! You motivate me so much girl. I've been really hitting the exercise lately and I just keep thinking about how dedicated you are to your regimen. I know I can do it too! :) Can't wait to hear of your trip once you're back home!

Hey everyone! OK, I'm back from my US and Korea time and now trying to get settled back into China. As you know it's after the 1st of the month and it is my weighin time...so, going by the old scale, I'm down to 80 kg (176 lbs), that's a 2.5 pound loss from last month! Now, the bad news...I got the new digital scale, and of course, it weighs heavier...to the tune of 6 pounds heavier! So, instead of 176, I'm at 182.1 as of today...thought I had kissed the 180's good bye, but here I am again, at the weight I thought I was back in May...Gotta admit, even though I know intellectually it's not all about the scale and I've even told people on here that same thing...when it happens to me...just doesn't feel good! So, as of today, I'm making new charts and staring over on my tracking, going to weigh in once a week on the new fancy scale, which also does % bodyfat...and to my chagrin does not measure any better for % body fat either...of course it was right with the Army standards at about 38%, darn it! It just proves to me that I've got a long way to go, no matter what measure I use...slow but steady I will get there...and if you are reading this and your weight is still in the 100's and you want to lose weight...take it from me...do it now, and do it while you are young! I sure doesn't get easier at 50!! Even so, at 182 vs 269 (or whatever it was then!), it's still a big improvement and I'm happy about it...and so is my body and brain...when it's not out to get me!

I'm going to generalize on my "non scale" goals for the past week...since the scale one has me bummed right now!

Eating: On a scale of 10, 10 being the best, for the past week, I would say 5/10...over my calorie goals for the day, nothing really bad, but just too much of it

Exercise: 10/10...did well while on vacation...hit the fitness center each day and did something...sometimes running (trying some new 5-finger shoes to strengthen my flat feet!), and sometimes elliptical, and sometimes swimming...felt really good!

Motivation: 7/10..got really pumped wearing the size 14 clothes..a little down today seeing the new number on the scale and % bodyfat which I had hoped was lower...and I must say, I'm reading a good book" born to run" which is really inspirational and making me want to run a marathon...again...and not just any marathon...the Great Wall Marathon in 2014...still havn't firmly made the decision given the time it will take to train up for that and the weather I would have to train in...but seriously considering it!

Munch: So glad to see you back! I look forward to hearing about your continued progress...and thanks for your kind words about 14...now to catch up to you in your size 8/10!

Cate: Thanks for your always kind support and I'm glad to be back...and back in my element...I'm not that much into olympics either this time...I've loved them in the past, but just can't get into them this year.

Good choices to all!!

Sarah

Well, the fitbit died on me...not sure what happened, but so much for tracking my every move...I'm going to try to get it replaced, but living in China that might be a challenge...probably qualified for "to much information" anyway!

Yesterday was my 1st day back to my normal job after 2 weeks away...suffice to say that nothing just "magically" got done! Long day, but felt good to be back to somewhat of a routine.

I did the elliptical yesterday for 50 minutes and had a good eating day. Today, I was on the treadmill and I'm trying a new running technique...whiile on vacation, I read a book called "born to run" about a group of people living in the backwoods of Mexico who have this incredible ability to run long distances and not get the classic injuries we seem to have in the US that go along with that...I havn't finished the entire book yet, but the bottom line is, rather than strike on your heels, you strike on the ball of your foot...now I'm flat footed and I normally make a pretty big thud when I hit the ground, and I've been wearing orthotics since I was in the 5th grade elementary...so I thought what the heck...I'll try it. I went out and bought a pair of "minimalist" running shoes (they look like ape feet with a "finger" for each toe) and offer no support what soever...the idea being that you build up the muscles in your feet and let the bounce in stiking on the ball of your foot be your suspension. I ran for a few minutes last week focusing on this and managed to get 2 blisters in the process in the area that is normally supported by the orthotics...and boy did the calves get a workout...I could barely walk the next day...but I stayed at it and tried to ease into it after a couple of days rest and every other day since then I'm been trying in increase my time little by little and slowly trying to adapt my running style (like I really ever had one!) to this new style. My calves are still aching and I have to tape up my feet to avoid the blisters...but I'm not going to abandon it! It makes sense to me and it's a new challenge! Hopefully that was a good choice..time will tell!!

Good choices to all!

Sarah

I've been trying to do some jogging, also. My legs were screaming at me, "NOOO! Don't do it!" lol I know that my walking isn't going to help me in the long run (no pun intended). I've already thought about that if I couldn't start jogging and my plateau happens, what the hell am I going to do, then?! So, trying to incorporate some jogging into my walking routine. Good luck to you on that!

I've been to Korea before visiting my family on my mom's side. I kinda miss the country side. My grandparents had one of those natural houses with no plumbing, owned a couple of cows and lots of land for rice patties and watermelon. Also, a wonderful earth packed kitchen with a fireplace to cook food over. But, that has been so long ago. Sigh...hehe, I'm just reminiscing lol. I actually lived in Japan for most of my life, too. Didn't move to the US until I was 19. May I ask why you are in China? I was an Air Force brat, myself.

Hey Kimmyluna,

Thanks for dropping by! I'm living and working in China, building and will eventually manage a tire manufacturing plant. We've been here about 2.5 years and will likely stay another 3. Good luck on your running...take it easy at the beginning...walking is how I started back...and it took me quite awhile to move up to running...a long while! The body will eventually adjust to about anything you throw at it in the way of exercise, so I've found it helpful to switch things up...at the beginning, it was walking, then elliptical for a long while, now, I've added in strenght training and running and walking again and still do the elliptical on "cross training" days...I occasionally do rowing and stationary reclined bicycle too...as you can see I like variety!

Yesterday was a particularly long, tough day, and I ate later than I normally do because just so tired and hungry...didn't eat a ton, but did break my own "do not eat after 6" rule. I'll have a better go at it today!

As I wrote the other day, we spent a week in Korea...and I continued to work out...here is a picture my husband took as I was getting ready to go exercise...in my new exercise duds!

Good choices to all!

Sarah

AHeya Sarah :)

:hurray: :hurray: :hurray: OMG!!!!!! 14!!!!!!!!! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:

I actually squealled!!!!! I am so so chuffed for you sweetie :)
Ooooooo, i want one of those little skirt/shorts things too..........I might have to copy you and find one :) Lovin' the pic :) I want a pink one :) I don't know whats wrong with me, i hated pink until the last few years, i now do lots of pink!

I had the scales mess with me too......bloody things. It's weird, even though you know you haven't gained your brain still gets annoyed with it lol Ooooooo, and by the way.......

YAY!!!!! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: well done on the 2.5lb loss :) :) that's awesome....You, my lovely, totally rock :)

Hey Ya Kate! Thanks for all your support and encouragement...yes, you do need to get one of those little short/skirt things...I don't wear them "every day", but when I go to the park or out somewhere, they do make me feel "smaller" and attractive and not frumpy like I do when I wear my tried and true t-shirts and shorts! I have been wearing my new size 14's here in China and feeling so good!

Yesterday, I took a break from exercise and had an OK eating day, so today, I was back at it, trying to build up my feet, continuing to do this running in the 5 finger shoes...it's strange, the areas on the soles of my feet are really tender and blister prone, so it seems when I run, I am limited not my how my legs feel, but the areas that feel like blisters are coming...and have come! I am putting tape on to try to prevent them, but they come none the less...I really want to continue to strengthen the feet, so I'll just continue to tape different places until I've got them tough! I'm up to running 10 minutes at a 10km/hr pace and today, I did 2 intervals of 1 minute each at a 12km/hr pace (my equivalent of a full out on the treadmill) all in these five finger shoes! My calves are still sore, but not nearly as much as they used to be, so I know I'm getting a good leg workout..not just to get my feet tough!

I've got a 5k on the 1st of September...not sure if I'll run in those shoes or not...if I'm not out of blister-ville by then, probably not!

I'm also looking into the Great Wall Marathon...yes, as in the Great Wall of China, doing a marathon in 2014...it's run in May of each year, so that would mean I would have to train in the winter...not sure that's a good plan, but I'm seriously considering it..what a hoot...a tough hoot...but a hoot none the less!

Well, take care ya'll and good choices to ya!
