Oh my...:nopity:I'm not at all sure how to deal with "role model of the month" (had to go look how to do one of those moving icon thingys for that one...not sure it expresses my thoughts)....but thank you so much!!

I did my exercise today too...60 minutes..it's been so long ago now, I can't remember how many calories...a long day today! I had a dinner out with my visitors...and now, back up and at 'em in a few hours...

I think it's a cold...nothing more serious...but a snotty cold just the same! I always feel better after the exercise and I can breath through all the right orifices!

Thanks again Brawny, Cate and Oldschool... (And thanks again for the compliments about the coat...I've worn it to work all week so far...and today, it snowed...I was toasty coming and going to work...in style! Cate, I do recommend getting it all going 1st thing in the morning...get it done with and get good and awakened to start the day!

I'll try to get to some of your diaries this weekend....I am just swamped right now!

Sarah

AHeya Sarah

I have been pretty slack on other diaries the last few days so i'm catching up and i really thought that i had commented on you photo's of your coat but obviously not so........
Wow!! You look awesome!!! And it looks sooooo warm :)

Sorry to hear you have a cold sweetie, hope you feel better soon. Xx

I have to agree. Working out right after I get up gives me a great boost for the day, I kinda feel invincible! Though, I know I'm not... lol

I play this little mind game with myself to get me to exercise in the morning. I tell myself.."just get on the bike for 10 minutes and after that if you feel bad you can stop" well Know how many times I have stopped?...None. I always feel better by that point and knock it right out.

I need to get my butt up earlier so I can do the treadmill. I have such a hard time waking up early though. Usually I'm showered the night before so I can just roll out of bed, get dressed and go. HOW ON EARTH DO YOU MANAGE IT? I think, in life, you are either a morning person or you are not. When I was young I could do cartwheels out of bed at 6am.

Sounds like you've been practicing the morning workout enough now that it's become a fully ingrained habit which I have to admire greatly. Look forward to the day that getting into such a great routine becomes nearly automatic.

New coat looks nice and toasty warm and looks like if you took the old one to a tailor that could nearly make two new coats for you out of the material. :hurray: Easy to see how much progress you've made since starting so must feel amazing (and so much lighter) to fit into the smaller clothes.

Thanks Kate, Munch, Brawny, Oldschool & Feelinggooder,

I agree Oldschool...there are morning people and night people...and I'm blessed to be a morning person, and together with going through menopause with not being able to sleep, it makes getting up early easier, so I can't really say how I manage it...now, don't get me wrong, I don't spring up out of bed and do cartwheels!! I trudge along and just remember the goal I set for myself to exercise every day, no matter what...and for the most part, I've been true to myself. After 9 months, it is a routine. Like Brawny said, there are days when I really have trouble starting..and I play the mind games with myself that I can quit after 10 minutes..but by the time 10 minutes gets here, I'm generally over it (as long as I'm not just totally exhausted or sick) and keep going.

Up and at 'em this morning at 5, and did 60 minutes on the elliptical for 860. I probably should have only done 50 minutes because I needed to leave home early today to get to a meeting that started earlier than normal...so everything was rushed..not the way I like to start!

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, sauteed pork, boiled kale & black fungus, sauteed eggplant , walnuts, dried cranberries and cheese

Lunch: sweet & sour pork, fried rice, chinese veggies, 1 banana

Dinner: Hot green tea

Still really swamped at work...but, I think tomorrow is Friday...and I'll get to relax this weekend before another killer week next week (lots of visitors and all the work they bring with them!)

Funny thing though...today, one of these visitors for next week arrived today and he hadn't seen me in awhile...and I got up from the conference table and he took 1 look at me and said "wow...you are really slimming down...and getting younger"...I know him quite well, so I took it OK...and have to admit, it was nice to hear!

Hey I like buying stuff you can wear at whatever weight, it is annoying clothes shopping as for me I waste so much on clothes as I never know what my weight will be! WOW on the comment. Glad you were ok with it, I know it is positive to hear a comment like that, but it is hard also. For me I hate people commenting if my weight goes up or down. I reckon your role model of the month too!! haha. setting a goal and sticking to it no matter what is pretty amazing in my opinion :) . Every time I go on the cross trainer I always think how on earth do you burn so much on it !

I agree that the comments can sometimes make you think negatively about your self, but just remember you look great. I just take them and smile because I know I'm looking smaller and it's just confirmation that I'm actually succeeding.

Don't let the things that should be your encouragement get you down scbibhouse. You're doing wonderful! :)

Greetings Tink, Oldschool, Munch, Brawny77, and anyone else reading my diary!

Ok, Black fungus is something I think is a toadstool type thing..it's got a consistency of what I imagine rubber would taste like, and not alot of taste. They eat alot of it here and I think it's nutritious..I don't know...it's kind of a filler for me (not filler as in toe stuff Brawny!)! (I assume it's low calorie!)

Today was a rest day for me for exercise, so I'll be able to do my normal weekend liesurely workout tomorrow! I love weekends!

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, leafy green vegetable, sauteed green beans, sweet n sour chicken, 1 banana, walnuts, cheese and dried cranberries

Lunch: 1 filet mignon, chinese vegetables, fried rice, 3 mandarin oranges

Dinner: Hot green tea

Have a great weekend ya'll!

Sarah

Hi Sarah. I love the sound of your breakfasts! I have vegetables most mornings (avocado & asparagus this morning- YUM!) The advantages of living in a hotel would outweigh the disadvantages if you have the discipline that you seem to have now. Enjoy the week-end, Cate

Hmmm, I don't think I'd be able to eat something called black fungus. I'm weird when it comes to food. If it doesn't smell good, then it probably doesn't taste good in my opinion, so I avoid it. lol! Good to take a rest day here and there Sarah. Hope you have a great weekend! :)

wow toadstools that taste like rubber. not for me thanks. your kicking butt as usual. great work staying with it and consistent.

Hey Guys!

Cate, Munch & size32someday, I was exactly the same way with food until I moved here...literally, not one part of the animal is thrown out here...and with 1.2 billion and counting, they consider everything a food source! So I've eaten things here that I would not normally consider...at all! Not sure I ever will again either, but here, I just "let myself go"! So far, so good!

This morning, I got up early and did my 1 hour on the elliptical (865 cal) , then another 35 minutes on the treadmill (300 cal) and then 50 crunches on the incline board, then some free weights...I love leisurely weekend workouts! Felt really good afterwards.

I went to the tailor shop and picked another bundle of clothes that had been taken up...they fit again and feels so good to have a whole new, old wardrobe! It is a fraction of the price of buying new, so feels like I won both ways! I'll go back tomorrow to pick up the shirts I took last week, so then I'll be done for awhile at the tailor.

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, boiled kale and black fungus, sauteed egg plant, 3 slices bacon, 1 banana, walnuts, dried cranberries and cheese mix.

Lunch/Dnner combo: we went to a Japanese restaurant here...very good! Had a little bit of everything cooked up in front of us...beef, veggies, shrimp, frog leggs, fried rice..all very good...now I'm stuffed..but such a good feeling!

I'm in for the day now...resting and relaxing in my recliner..hoping you all are great! Thanks so much for visiting my diary!

Sarah

Ok I know you are really getting in shape when you use the word " leisurely" and "workout" in the same sentence. I am not there yet.

Thats why you are role model of the month!

Hey Brawny! Leisurely has to do with time constraints...not the work required!! I was leisurely this morning too, but did burn some calories!

Yesterday, I think I caught up on a lot of sleep...after my exercise I slept in the chair...then after the tailor and the Japanese meal...I slept...then last night I slept again...I guess I really needed it after an exhausting week!

Today, up and at 'em again and did my 60 min on the elliptical (860 cal), then feeling "leisurely", I knocked 55 crunches on the incline, then punched in 45 minutes on the treadmill (some walking, some running) for 489 cal, then a few minutes on the rower to get my back stretched out and a few free weights.

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, sauteed chum soy (looks like stems from a daylilly...gotta be full of fiber!), baby cabbage with black fungus, walnuts, cheese and cranberry mix, 1/2 banana

One of the things I did yesterday was look up the US Army weight regulation...yes, it does exist. I used to be in the US Army reserves until I retired from that (and yes, having to be weighed and taped every month was a factor in my decision to retire...it was so humiliating to always have to be weighed every month by some skinny person who has never been over weight in his/her life!) ...well, I think when I left that life..my brain took over and gave my body the right to eat anything I wanted because I didn't have to put up with the weight control program anymore!. My body responded in kind by doing just that...eating everything and putting on pounds...more and more...until I was nudged into making a decision to get back in control back in June 2011...about 10 years after retirement from the Reserves. Anyway, after feeling particularly fit today (after my leisurely workout!) I decided to look up what the US Army says I should weigh..and the answer was 166 or less (at my age and height). When I was in the reserves, I was never at that weight, so anyone who did not meet the height and weight requirements were called away and counseled, then given a letter to lose the weight (never effective for me)...then you had to weigh in every month until you lost the weight. If, you didn't meet the weight table, they did a 2nd test for % body fat. It's a simple test, where they measure (in inches) neck, hips and waist. Take the hips + waist and then subtract the neck to come up with a number, then look at a table that shows your height and that number to come up with % bodyfat. The max % body fat for a female over 40 is 34%...sounds like alot doesn't it?...well, when I was active in the military and did alot of exercises, I always was just on the borderline...or above doing crash diets etc trying to keep within the regulations.

So...back to today, according to the measurements I've been taking and a guess at my neck...I've still got a long way to go before I meet the Army standards...so my intermediate goal is to meet these standards or weigh 166...which ever comes first! Damn...that was a painful little trip down memory lane today!

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Sarah

AHeya Sarah :)

Every time i go to read your diary there are shed loads of posts!!!! So i have lots to catch up on. I will make my way thru and comment as i go along :) I think i might make a coffee first as this may take some time :smilielol5:

I don't have time in the morning to do my run so i HAVE to do it after work. I have to get Jack up and sorted for school and sort the cats and dogs etc and be at work for 8am!!. But i have to admit my sunday morning run is my favourite time of the week. I would love to be able to do my work outs in the morning cos they really do set you up for the day.

Well done on taking the compliment from that guy. Isn't it weird that some people it really is hard to cope with but others it's ok and there is no rym or reason for it.

Your work out is awesome, especially for a weekend!! You work so hard. OK, i do my run on a sunday morning but i just love it and it is so different from going to the gym.

Yay!!! More new/old clothes. It must feel so cool to have to have everything made smaller. :)

Good for you checking out the military target. I think we need some kind of reason to get to our goals. Mine is to have the Wii fit not make that 'your fat' duh duh duh noise when i weigh. You will get there and probably sooner than you think, you are totally rocking it!!!!

Love & hugs :grouphug:
