Well, I had a big long post, and I must not have hit "submit" so I lost it..so I'll try to get it again!

So today, I took a break on exercise today...just needed to take a break...I'll hit it again tomorrow on Saturday...a liesurely workout

Cate: You are getting to know me...I'm a goal driven girl...when I don't get done what I wanted to do...I feel bad! Thanks for your "ha ha"!

Oldschool & Brawny77: I would love to have some deep fried rice...I'm sure anything deep fried is bad for me...but sure does taste good!

Tink: Thanks for your encouragement...it's always good to hear!

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, sauteed eggplant, leafy green vegetable, sauteed chicken, walnuts, cranberry and cheese mix

Lunch: baked chicken, chinese veggies, fried rice, 1 small banana

Dinner: Hot green tea

Have a great weekend everyone!

I have just written in my diary that I think It's important to have a day off from exercise, as our muscles and body need rest and recovery!

Greetings everyone from sunny, cold Northeastern (formerly called Manchuria), China!

Thanks ski_bunny30, size32someday and tink for your affirmations that a break was the right thing to do...it was indeed...I feel great today!

It's Saturday and I'm having a great day! Slept in late, got up and had breakfast, then came back and relaxed, and just got out of the shower after having exercised later today...I've got a job fair in which I have to interview some people today, so I'm going to go to work this afternoon...no real rest for the weary!

Exercise: 1 hr on elliptical for 933 cal (see what a day of rest can do!), then 20 min walking/ running on the treadmill for 230 cal, then 50 setups on the incline board...hot damn...burn baby burn! After that invigorating start to the day...I've decided to change my target to 143 (down from 150) because I saw that on several "height/weight" tables that is what I should weigh as a female at 5'7". I've always known that number or somewhere around that number...but I always said to myself that it was not realistic...now I feel like I'm on a good path to actually get there and stay there! (I think I should take that exercise break more often!)

I'm actually starting to feel slimmer now...hard to explain, but ince I've started to get some of the new clothes I actually see it...when I had the baggy pants, it just wasn't obvious. Now, when I set down to put on a pair of slacks..I look at them and my first reaction is, oh, those won't fit..they are too small..my eyes havn't adjusted to my new size yet...but we're getting there!

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, sauteed kale, 3 slices bacon, sauteed baby cabbage, 1 banana, walnuts, cranberries and cheese mix and sparkling water

Lunch: some salted peanuts and sparkling water...I'm sure I'll have something later this afternoon

Have a great one!

Sarah

Hello again!

I finished the work and then hubby and I went out to eat at a new western restaurant not far from the hotel. I had a Hawaiian Chicken salad, some motzerella cheese sticks, 2 nochos and 3 chicken fajita's. That was my big meal of the day and then we went shopping for a winter coat. All of my winter coats are way too big right now...I wanted to just get through the season but 1 of them is really heavy lamb wool (very warm, but weighs a ton!) and one of them is leather, but almost falls off of me even when fully zipped up. So, today we went to a fur store not far from the hotel. I went there last year and they have some really pretty ones...and some that are down right hidious (not good colors for me...something about fire engine red and hot pink and orange that do not say fur coat to me!). No matter what the color, last year I couldn't find one that fit..not one every store I went into the size 2 ladies always looked at me like I was a monster and shook their heads and waved their hands 'no"...nothing that big. I always felt bad about it and avoided shopping in the stores...seems shopping online when I could just checkout the larger womens sizes in the privacy of my own home. This year..a little different story...I still had some stores that did not have a size to fit me...but there were several stores that did have some coats that fit. I did find some that I liked and in fact we bought one! I bought a coat off the rack here in China...it's a Chinese size 2XL (must be about like a size 18 US)..but it was a big moment for me...I found something here that I liked and that fit!!! In the land of petite petites, I actually found something!

This is a coat that when I lose the 50 more pounds I have to lose..will still fit OK...it will be a little lose and just fine for sweaters underneath in the land of the cold!

Just had to share that!

Sounds like an awesome shopping experience. It's nice that you're remembering to celebrate all those victories along the way to your ultimate goal.

Wouldn't base too much off the generic estimates you see for ideal weight if it's basely mainly upon height alone. A lot of those estimates fail to take into account your build and muscles so your original 150 might be a closer estimate.

In any case, with your amazing work ethic and healthy eating, whatever your ideal weight is I'm sure you're well on your way to reaching that goal.

AHeya Sarah :)

Sorry i've neglected you but i am rubbish when i'm grumpy :( I'm all good now :)

I totally know what you mean about getting use to sizes, i am just the same. I know that they fit but every time i put something on my brain is sneakily saying 'you ain't getting them on' Also i forget that things are huge now too. I have got rid of pretty much all of my clothes that were too big but i have a T-shirt that a bought a a 'Kings of Loen' concert in a large, i went to the concert 2 weeks before i started losing weight and i can't bear to get rid of it so i tend to wear it to bed or for slobbing around the house and everytime i put it on i think 'oh yeah, it's too big' it nearly reaches my knees lol
My coat looks rediculously huge now too but i haven't got around to getting another one, it seems silly to do it now it's getting to the end of the winter. I can still remember squeezing into it when i first got it and how it flattened my boobs, now it looks like i am wearing a red tent!!!

:hurray: :hurray: Awesome coat moment!!! I love them. Shopping has a whole new meaning now huh. Photo's please :)

Wee Hoo Sarah for your truly wonderful coat moment! I understand totally how that must have felt. In Vietnam I would have needed double any size so NOTHING fitted me & I felt like I was a great galumphing elephant. Kids gawked at me. I am never going to get that reaction again. How lovely it will be for you to be able to shop alongside everyone else in China. WELL DONE YOU!!!! xoxo Cate

Hey Ya'll!

Thanks you so much for your fun and encouraging, supportive comments!

Feelinggooder: You are right...I'm not sure that 143 is the right number...When I get to 150, I'll know! You can bet, I'll celebrate when I get to 150, just the same! One day at a time and just doing the next right thing, eating the right stuff and keeping up the exercise routine is what i plan to do! You are also right to know that the coat purchase was a sort of celebration...and, quite honestly, one of necessity! Thanks for your encouragement!

Kate: I'm so glad to know that your eyes and brains play tricks on you too! I have kept 1 big pair of pants to remember where I started...when I get to my goal weight, I'm going to do the classic photo of the slim me in my old pants...part of me looks forward to that...and another part is full of shame for getting that big...I can't beat myself up for past actions...it does no good, and can't change it anyway...so I focus on today and keep doing the next right thing...or at least trying to! I'd highly recommend getting a new coat by the way...they are cheaper at the end of the season (my husband negociated a really good deal...and he doesn't speak a word of Chinese!)...and since you are so close to your goal weight it will be used alot in the future!

Oldschool & Cate: I felt exactly the same way in Thailand (havn't been to Vietnam, but I'm pretty sure that everywhere here in Asia is about the same)..and yes, my goal is to never have those types of shopping experiences again! I can certainly relate the the elephant allusion..sad but true!

So...here are some photos I asked my husband to take this morning...at your request

Drum roll please!!!! (I got that from you Brawny!)

This is me in my "traveling pants", cargo pants (bought them off the rack here in China too!)...pockets and comfort (going for the "I'm comfortable in my own skin" look here!)

This is the old coat that wraps around me, almost twice and weighs a ton!

This is the new coat...it feels so good and fits great and will be warm outside too, and...best of all...covers my butt! The collar flips up to cover my ears in the wind too and feels so light weight compared to the other one!! The color is a dark maroon, almost black, so not too conspicuous (just my style!)

So much for the celebration pictures!

Today, I got up and did my 60 min on the elliptical for 903 cal, then 20 minutes on the rowing machine for 176 cal. No running today as I'm going to do the rest day in between runs.

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, leafy green vegetable, sauteed chicken and mushrooms, sweet & sour pork, walnuts, cranberries and cheese mix

Going back down to the tailor today to take all of my button down shirts to have them taken up...right now, they are just taking up space in the closet...going to get them done so that when I need a good button down shirt (which I know I will...I have some serious travel business trip coming up) , I'll have them and they won't look so baggy! Then I'm going to look for a roller brief case that I can put my computer in to take back and forth to work...right now, I use a backpack...and I don't want to mess up my new coat with that thing!

Take care all and thanks again for your support and help! I really am addicted to this forum now!

Sarah

Sarah you look amazing! I have never been to a tailor before but it sounds like a great option for you as you shrink :) Glad you are enjoying the forum as much as we all do. Your constant encouragement is so appreciated!

Sarah!!!!! YOU LOOK AWESOME!!!!!!!! So cute I can't help but to smile! I love it. you're an inspiration! never stop :)

Thanks Alice29 & Success,

The coat did feel great today...and given our frigid temps here, glad I got it!

Yesterday, I started to get a cold and didn't sleep great...then this morning I was really dragging. I forced myself to get the elliptical for 50 min at 750 cal, then had great intentions of running for 1k, but pooped out...so I'll have to see how I feel tomorrow before I see if I can make good on my committment to run 5k this week before Saturday.

I've got a ton of visitors at work right now, so my entries are going to be basic through the week for the next 2 weeks minimum.

Breakfast: 2 fried eggs, sweet n sour chicken, sauteed eggplant, leafy green vegetable and walnut, cheese and dried cranberries

Lunch: sweet n sour pork, chinese veggies, fried rice, 2 mandarin oranges

Dinner: hot green tea

Wow, scbibhouse, that coat is awesome!!! So proud of you and all you've accomplished. Sorry I've been sporadic here, school is just a little nuts right now and so is wedding planning. I'm doing my best just to keep my head on straight!

I had a cold about a week ago and it was pretty bad. I didn't exercise for a good 5 days or so because I literally could breath through my nose and I just felt so weak. So great job on still busting out your workout while not feeling good. Don't get down on yourself for not meeting your goals, the fact you got yourself to exercise at all is truly great.

LOVE the coat and the super comfy pants, they look great!

Nice coat sarah!

You went to the land of petite petites and decided if ya cant beat you would join them!

Good work. Feels good to by some new duds (thats Texan for clothes)

Thanks Munch & Brawny77!

Always good to hear from you all! Brawny...If making a declaration that cheeseburgers were non caloric would make it so, you would definitely have my vote...really don't care where you stand on the other issues...that one alone would get it for me!

Hope you are feeling better Munch...my cold is a little better today...not sure if's really a cold...might just be allergins or this really dry air here in Shenyang! At any rate, I exercised today.

Got up and did my normal 60 minutes on the elliptical for 858 cal today (if you're wondering, I do a "random" program on resistance 15 for these 60 minutes and with my wieght, that's what the machine tells me I burned...is it accurate..not really sure, but I assume it's consistent..so if it's wrong, it should be consistently wrong both up and down...that's my story and I'm sticking to it. If sweat is any indicator...the cal. count is not far from wrong!

Breakfast: sauteed eggplant, 3 slices bacon, leafy green vegetable, 2 fried eggs, walnuts, dried cranberries and cheese

Lunch: sweet n sour pork, fried rice, chinese veggies, 3 mandarin oranges

Dinner: hot green tea

I stand in awe of your consistency!

You are making it happen one eliptical ride at a time.

I declare Sarah as "role model of the month" for the rest of us,

Most impressive my friend!

I concur on the Role Model of the Month being bestowed on Sarah, for consistency and inspiring us all.

Awesome coat Sarah, that looks so warm! Now all you need is a fur hat an some fur mittens and you'll be an animal ;)

:iagree: with Brawny & Oldschool! Role model of the month, for sure. What with you & Kate being so consistent with your exercise I have been inspired to exercise in the mornings too, rather than after lunch. What a great way to start a day! It gets those endorphins flowing, sets you up for the rest of the day & makes it so much easier to keep within your calories. Go Sarah! Hope you're not coming down with the rotten bug & are feeling better already, xo Cate
