Sam's weightloss diary

Thanks :)

I looked in the mirror today and for the first time I felt that some difference had been made on my tummy, it was the first thing I gained when I started getting overweight so I guess it would be the last thing to go when losing weight. Given me a boost of confidence to keep me motivated, I think I'm going to work out now, haha :)

Pretty low loss this week, only 0.6 across the whole week, not very good considering I stuck to my diet right down the line, hoping it's just a case of balancing out prior week's unusually high loss, hopefully next week will be better.

Muscles coming along nicely now, still working on my upper body, starting to get some mass there and a little definition, feels good :)

*edit*

Update, I weighted myself this morning and got a lovely 209 on the scales, that means I've broken my next 15 stone goal, I've updated my weight log in the original post.

I thought I'd do something different and actually post what I ate in a full week and the approx times I ate, just to help dispel some myths about diet which I firmly believe before I started. I've listed the approx cal values in brackets. I lost 4.2lbs this week but given daily fluctuations in weight it's probably more realistic that it was only 2-3lbs.

What to take away from this in my opinion is:

1) You don't need to eat breakfast to lose weight, it's not relevant to weight loss, only calories is relevant to weight loss, this idea of stoking the furnace of your metabolism is basically rubbish, your metabolism works when it needs to based on the food you eat at the time, you don't need to help keep it running with lots of frequent meals including breakfast, all this effects is the distribution of energy during the day and how hungry you feel.

2) You can eat pretty much whatever you want as long as the calories are at the goal you need, you'll notice that I ate KFC and takeaway during that week, I also ate ribs and pizzas, it's just a case of finding food which has the right calorie values, I could easily spend 2x the cals on a thick crust pizza but thin crust ones have so much less, always check the calories on everything you eat, some things are just really high in energy. Places like KFC will list the calories of all their meals on their website.

3) If you want to snack, eat fruit, bananas are great they give you an immediate boost of energy, they're fairly cheap and you can keep them at your desk at work or in a fruit bowl in your house in the lounge so they're always in sight, they're also fairly low calorie.

4) Don't be afraid to balance your calories, you'll notice on Saturday night I had takeaway which I listed as 500 cals on Saturday and 1500 cals on Sunday, Don't be afraid to eat something yummy which is high calorie and offset some of the calories to the next day, as long as you don't get more than a day ahead you're fine, you'll notice on Sunday the rest of the calories were quite low. This also works on a weekly basis as well, at the start of the week I was generally under my limit and later in the week generally above, it all evens out over the course of a week and you still get the loss you wanted.

5) Don't eat when you're not hungry, I'm never hungry in the morning so I just don't eat, there's no benefit to eating then since I do a desk job and don't need much energy to last until lunch, you can save the calories you would have spent on breakfast and use them to have a good meal later in the day, or have some pudding or an extra treat.

Hope that gives people some perspective on my weight loss method, you can see all my weekly weights on the original post of this thread, I'm down a total of about 39lbs now (my actual lost is more than I'm tracking here as I started tracking late on this site) which is over half way towards my goal of about 180lbs, about 29lbs to go!

Happy eating :)

Down to 207 now a 2lb loss this week which is right on the money. My diary in the first post has been updated.

Unfortunately I think I've hit a plateau now, the last 2 weeks I've had a weekly loss of about 7000 calories below my maintenance so that should have been about a 4lb loss but I've actually gained 0.2lbs in that time.

If anyone has any suggestions? I think I'll have to knock my daily calories down another 200-300 cals and see if that helps.

I'm back down a few lbs now so maybe I'm over my plateau, I hope so! 203.2lbs today which is approx 44lbs lost total

I've updated the first post again with week 22, nearly a 4lb loss this week which is great as it helps make up for the prior weeks. Looks like I might be over that little plateau and with any luck I can keep my loss steady.

I want to get to about 180lbs approximately which means I've only got about 23lbs left to lose which is fantastic. The milestone of 200lbs is coming up which I'm starting to get obsessed with, I can't wait to finally break that awful number, and 14 stone goal looms quickly behind that at only 196lbs, so the next few weeks will be somewhat of a morale boost I feel.

I've actually managed to stick to about 1000 cals per day this week and I've not found myself hungry at all, it's amazing how much my body and appetite has changed since losing weight, I could munch my way though loads of snacks and large meals before and still not feel full, and now I can go without eating much the entire day and it's not a problem, I hope I can maintain that after my diet ends.

Hope everyone else is getting on well with own diets, keep those cals down! :)

Weighed in at 201lbs this morning which is another decent loss for this week, feeling very up beat at the moment.

I'm only 1lb away from 200lbs

I'm only 5lbs away from 14 stone mini-goal

I'm only 12lbs away from my initial goal of reaching my "healthy weight" range.

I guess I need to start thinking of how far past my initial goal I'll be happy with

Updated my calendar on page 1, broke through the 200lb barrier now, i swear on my life that i'll never go above 200lbs again, it's only down from here!

Hi :) Congrats on getting out of the 200's, that's gotta feel awesome!

I have studied about various weight management programs which are very much useful for losing weight that's too without any kind of side effects, I want to know that how much they are worthy to be followed to gain good results in weight loss .

No movement this week, not surprising as I've been off work all week snacking on takeaways and whatnot, i'll aim to lose another few lbs next week :)

Congratulations Frosteh!

I'm looking forward to breaking that 200 pound mark too! I'm targeting to do it by 1 Jan 2012... I weigh in on the 1st of each month, and on 1 November, I was at 211...so, given my rate of loss, I should be able to do it too...I'm so looking forward to it! I was really happy when I broke through the 100kg mark...the 200 pound mark is next! Thanks for your post..good to have company along the way!

Thanks, if you need any advice or tips then feel free to ask.

I hit 197.2lbs today so feeling good, also just finished a new PC build with soem expensive parts, I treated myself for being good this year and maybe as an early xmas pressie, time to play some games :)

My running diary on the front page has been updated again this week, I've today beaten my 14 stone goal by 0.2 lbs, i literally have half a stone to go until I reach the top end of my healthy weight range (about 189lbs for a 6'1" male) so here's hoping the next 6lbs comes off nice and quickly, with any luck I can do that in time for Xmas holiday, that would be great!
