Sam's from Chunk to Hunk Journal :)

Hey thanks all of you guys :)

I'm doing much better. I even made it to the gym last night for some much needed cardio. 2 miles running on the treadmill, then almost 3 on the elliptical. Felt great and I definitely needed it. I'm planning on getting to the gym later tonite for another run and probably some core work.

I had a bagel for breakfast. I went to my favorite bagelry and had an asiago cheese bagel with some jalapeno-orange cream cheese on it. The bagels from that place are like none other, and their cream cheese is whipped, so I think that makes it a little healthier?... I figure since its in the morning it probably won't hurt me too bad. I brought some grilled chicken breasts for later, and put a very small amount of whole grain pasta with them, and a chunky marinara sauce on top....

Hey Sam, came by to check and see how you're doin. Looks like you and I were sick around the same time but like you I didn't get as sick as everyone else around me. I dosed up on vitamins and kept fighting it and feel pretty good now but my husband was SO sick. Glad you're feeling all better now :) I was reading what you had for dinner the other night and a light came on...you were talking about having healthy chicken and having a small portion of pasta with it with chunky sauce. I've gone ahead and had stuff on the spur of the moment and limited my portions...like half a candy bar instead of a whole one. But I never thought about preplanning my heavier carbs throughout the week and just doing really small portions. I feel stupid for admitting that, lol. I really want some stir fry this week....I've never made it but my mom used to make it all the time so I think I need to buy some stuff when I grocery shop today or tomorrow. Sorry, I came by to say hi and ended up on a trailing ramble of thoughts, lol. So what's new and exciting now that you're feelin better?

Sounds delicious! I heard that the body's ability to process carbs is best in the am, so good thinking. Course, Steve would say it's the total calories that counts, nonetheless it's probably better for your digestion in the long run to stick to lean protein and vegetables in the evening. I TRY to do that daily. Good luck on more running! I said in my diary, I want to see you running FIVE miles...soon....how bout by the end of the month? ;)

I don't know if they're only in Utah...I just know there aren't any here in VA that I've seen....

They are all over the country.

NY does have the best bagles, so there are no chains around me. Only the mom and pops can compete, for once.

You guys and your Einstein's :) I actually really love the local Riches Bagels we have here. They are a locally owned business and the family all works in it. I must say their food is to die for, I know you guys would love it. Their Asiago cheese bagels are like none other anywhere else... I used to eat them in highschool and have loved them since. Plus, I really feel good about patronizing a local establishment and getting my food prepared by someone that owns the store, it just feels nice to me. I also know someone who worked there years ago who always told me they would score over 100% when they had the health inspectors come in, so I like knowing that too, lol...

Plus, if I remember correctly, they want to set you up with some hot guy?

Hey there :)

That's kinda the way I think about carbs too, it would be best to eat them in the morning or at lunch... But, half the time I really just think about the calories in calories out way of things and just try to focus on my daily calories and daily protein grams... I should really track my carbs more but I don't think they are too excessive, at least that often. I made sure I got lean proteins and veggies at the grocery store last night, so I can start eating it for dinner at night.

Last night I ran just over 2 miles again, and then did the elliptical for awhile. I bet I could be back up to 4-5 milers on the treadmill again by the end of the month, if I kept up the regular runs. Each time I go to the gym I try to run a little bit more than I did the last time. I did some core work at the gym last night as well but not a lot. I need to focus on making sure that my strength training exercises are long and strenuous enough that they actually make a difference, like the ones I used to have with my trainer...

What's up Sam?

That's usually how I go about things, personally. Set my cals and get the right amount of protein in. From there, things generally fall into place pretty well.

Ya, that's how I like to think of it too. I hate it when things are too complicated. If I have my cal limit in my head, and try to eat a good amount of protein throughout the day, I usually feel pretty good about things.
