Sam's from Chunk to Hunk Journal :)

I love me some celery. I don't really like to eat it plain but mixed into tuna salad or in soup, etc I love it!!! I like the crunch factor it delivers. Plus I've heard it's a negative calorie food, which means your body burns more calories processing it than it actually contains. I don't know if that is necessarily true but it sounds like it could be, so that is good enough for me ;) I'm not a big fan of peas or peapods... I always hated peas growing up. I'm also pretty particular with my meats... I hate any type of meat that has a gamey taste whatsoever!!! I can't do it. I'm not really too picky of an eater to be honest. I like to expand my tastebuds as much as I can and typically like foods that most don't... I love the taste of black licorice, onions, etc...

I agree I love celery in stuff, but eating it plain (without the hot wings and blue cheese!) isn't all that exciting. I remember not being able to figure celery out a kid. You know... you've shove a chunk in your mouth and chew and chew. Eventually you'd have to spit out a giant ball of green stringy mess bcause you couldn't swallow it... Haha.

Cottage cheese is also kinda good with some salsa in it too, at least imo... Broccoli is very very good if you sprinkle some parmesean cheese on it. I ate it that way last night and that is how I like it. Cottage cheese is cottage cheese to me. I can get pretty burnt out on it if I don't be careful. It is just such an excellent source of protein and very filling too.

How do you get around the texture of cottage cheese? That's what makes me gag...even disguised in lasagna. Of course, being a milk based product to begin with doesn't help matters...but I just can['t get past the texture.

Now broccoli? I don't see how anyone can dislike those tasty little trees. They don't require anything more than a little salt when cooked or a little ranch/italian dressing when raw. :)

Oh...i forgot, I like the added crunch of celery..I usually mince some into my home made salsa...

Reading this thread made me remember a summer salad I used to make with cottage cheese, celery, tomato, and ham. A friend used green peppers instead of celery. It was so good. Makes me want some right now, lol Which is good because what I've really wanted all day was a huge pile of hashbrowns and sausage gravy...luckily I waited that one out until nowhere was serving breakfast any longer.

LOL! Don't know why that made me laugh, you and your celery. I bet that lets off one hell of a crunch when you get going on them. LOL Are you that guy that has everyone in the office putting in their ear plugs or ipod earbuds? LOL

JK!! I like it with peanut butter or cheese. Yum!!!

I never thought of putting tuna in celery. I love eating it with peanut butter and raisins, like normal people. haha I'm totally kidding

Hey Sam, stoppin' in to say hi! :D

Don't be knockin' fry sauce! It's tasty!!! Now green jello is one flavor I can live without. *blech*

MissJellybelly, I'm the person that nobody wants to be around while eating. I try to use my manners out in public...but I can make more noise eating than anybody you know. lol Most people bite into an apple...not me, I chisel it with my front teeth, scraping off a thin layer of fruit with each pass. I know I would hate to be in the same room as me while I was eating an apple if I wasn't the person eating it. :)

BTW...hiya Sam! I figured I should say hi since it's your diary. :coolgleamA:

Hey Sam, came by to say hi and see how you're doing. Looks like you must be busy or posting somewhere else besides your journal :) Hope all is well, take care

Oh believe me, I'm not knockin' fry sauce! I'm from Utah... fry sauce is a way of life! In fact, I have a HUGE bottle of it in my fridge. :) Green jello is also a "way of Utah life" (usually with shredded carrots in it)! Not my thing, but definitely something you see if you live here lol.. :D

I was raised in Utah. My parents were Mormon converts and moved from Holland to Utah, via Canada.

I lived in Logan from the time I was 6 til I was 19. I lived in Wyoming and Idaho from about 1978--1995 when I moved to SLC. My sister and brother both still live there. Sis in West Jordan and Big brother lives at Jeremy Ranch.

Why do Mormons eat so much jello? Any why do the put vegetables into disgusting jello flavors?

*GASP* disgusting jello flavors? is there such a thing? lol

j/k, I'm not crazy about lime and that seems to be the one I see people tossing celery and green peppers into...then topping it with cool whip...disgusting

Sam better make an appearance soon, I think we've all hijacked his diary :D

Hiya Sam! Sorry you've been having a bit of a rough time lately. I hope you get your postcard. I didn't have your last name..lol..so I hope it arrives.

I love broccoli, but cannot stand celery. I wish I did like it, but I can't get over the stringy, pungent side of it--no matter what it's combined with.

And, yes, milk can be frozen with no adverse effects. I've been doing it for years. It doesn't taste any different--just takes a day or so to thaw. :)

Hey all :)

I'm around. I just wasn't posting as much as I usually do lately. I'm back tho :)

I really do enjoy my fry sauce, it comes with being born and raised in UT I'm sure. I went to CA once and tried to order it at Red Robin with my fries, and they were like "what the hell are you talking about"?... LOL

I love celery in almost everything. I think in tuna or chicken salad it adds a nice crunch, and I enjoy a crunch factor in a lot of foods.

Thanks for the postcard that is coming Kimberly, I've been waiting for it, so hopefully it will still come even without my last name, which I guess I forgot to give you, sorry :)

Food and exercise need to get back on track. This week has been filled with some indulgent BBQ's and a curve ball, my boss was in this past week and insisted on taking me to lunch twice.... Wadaya do. I need to really get back into a rhythm.

I have to work overnite tonite, which sucks.... I plan on wasting the time away on youtube, which I can literally get lost in for hours.

-Sam

youtube is addictive. I've watched something like 3,000 videos. My friends make fun of me because I "aaaaalways" have a story about something I saw on youtube.

I guess I'm a computer nerd. haha

Hope the night goes by quickly! :)

That's awesome that you're from Utah too! And I'm not sure about the jello thing lol... there are definitely some CRAZY dishes here! HA!

Hey all :)

Monday Monday... I'm at work. What else is new, lol... I work a lot this week, thru Sunday I have almost 60 hrs. scheduled... Yikes! I'm off Friday, Sat. and some of Sunday... Then next Monday I have my Nursing Orientation for school... Kinda nervous/excited for that.

Ate pretty well yesterday but I was a lazy ass and didn't do any exercise. I had good intentions this morning but slept in as usual... I'm planning on going for a run tonite before Intervention comes on, because I love to watch that show on Mondays. So tonite I will will will go do some awesome cardio at the gym and I will love it :)

-Sam

Sucks you have so much work--but it does mean $$. :D

I'm sure nursing orientation will be fine. I'm so excited for you!

My H loves to watch Intervention as well. I like it when the ending is happy, but it's downright depressing when they go back to their old ways or even die from their addiction. :(
