Sam's from Chunk to Hunk Journal :)

Hey all.

Made it to the gym yesterday and weighed in. I was 212.8, which I guess I'm happy about. I really thought I would be under 210lbs though... I will take it.

Worked out with the trainer, decided to do a leg routine. It went as follows:

Sissie squats (hard to explain) 3x25
One legged squats 3x10 per leg
Hamstring curls machine at 35lbs 3x25 per leg
Leg extension, only 10 but I had to hold it for a count of 6 at 110lbs
Leg curl machine, 60 or so ish lbs. One set of 50
Calf raises, tons....

For some reason I think I'm leaving something out... I can't remember.
I did 20 minutes on the crosstrainer and then only could last 8 on the treadmill. My legs felt extra Jelloish yesterday and I couldn't run... I am going to try and make it tonite but, we will see. I am off from work for the whole weekend and don't have any plans, so I'm thinking some long gym sessions will be in order, I still need to get my core routine done and my bis/tris done too.

Food wasn't too good yesterday but, it was only yesterday. The food was good but just way over my calories I am sure. I went to a Brazillian Steakhouse place and ate a ton of meat, so at least there was lots of protein for that meal.

A Brazilian Steakhouse, huh? Can't say I have ever been to one! Sounds interesting... and delicious! I love steaks! :D

So, made it to the gym Fri, Sat, and Sun. Did cardio 60 minutes each time and felt great. I am all caught up on my C25K, which feels good. I'm considering going to the gym again tonite but, I know I have to meet with PT in the morning, so I am still debating it. I really like how all the running is making me feel... I've been doing 30 minutes on the crosstrainer and 30 minutes on the treadmill and I finally feel like the cardio is really really good right now.

Food was okay over the weekend. Calorie wise it almost all fit into place, almost... It wasn't probably the healthiest food choices either but, I did better than I ever have on a weekend in a great while.

I had a long 3 day weekend and not a lot going on socially.... So, I took it upon myself to get organized and do some spring cleaning. I cleaned out my closet and now have 4 garbage size bags of clothes to give to the D.I. That amazes me, I didn't think I had as many clothes as I did. I bought a new down comforter for my bed, which I love (Its a King!!!) and I am cleaning up all the crap I have on my computer with a new harddrive. I just feel like it was a very productive weekend and I am happy about it, lol...

Now I am back to reality at work for the workweek....

Awesome job on all that exercise over the weekend! WOOOHOOO! Also for the spring cleaning. I really need to do some of that myself.

I think it's funny how we both shifted I guess our routines to do half treadmill and 1/2 cross trainer. I love the thing. I like doing the hill interval and get really low when the resistance and level goes up, it's really an awesome workout for my behind and legs. Yikes.

Well, Keep up the great work and I hope your PT visit today went well!
 
Thanks Tasha, it did.

I did a core workout with PT today. It included lots of back and side extensions, which I know I'm going to be feeling tomorrow. I'm glad I did them, I was actually planning on starting to do them anyways. I went up a couple lbs... I'm kind of confused. I guess my diet isn't perfect but I figured between all the cardio I'd been getting in and watching my calories somewhat I would at least see a maintain or a little loss??? Guess not...

I'm trying to not let it get me down too much. I think I'm going to work on timing my meals better and try to include more protein. I haven't been as good with the protein as I normally have been in the past. I know I can keep getting all my cardio in and I just gotta make sure I keep up my weight routines as well. Next week I told my trainer I want to take my BF% and measurements again just to see if they have changed that much, because I feel like they probably have. It will be comforting for me to know that if I am not really losing any weight on the scale that I have at least been losing inches and body fat.

Eating has been so/so... I have done good today so far but yesterday was a different story. I binged a little on ice cream last night. It was the Dreyers American Idol Flavor of Take the Cake. It was like cake frosting in cake flavored ice cream. Very very good and hard to put down. Oh well, that was yesterday, right??

I also want to get to the gym in the morning as well but, I don't know if that is going to happen if I go tonite... Hopefully it all works out.

omg i love that kind of icecream...i have been struggling myself lately Sam so you have my sympathies :)
 
Been kind of bad this weekend... I went to the gym on thursday night but didn't go Fri or Sat. I am working overnight tonite and probably won't make tomorrow... I went out to a bar last night and watched my friend Ashlee K. Thomas play (google or yahoo her!!!!:) I went to highschool with her and she is an old friend. It was nice to see her play and see some friends I hadn't really seen in a few months but I don't feel to great today because I drank a little too much beer and stayed up way later than normal.

My friend offically found out her insurance approved her gastric bypass, so she should be getting it within the next couple of weeks (she says as soon as the insurance approves, your surgery is typically scheduled within 2 weeks, at least where she is going thru). Kind of scary but i am optimistic it will work for her.

Hello all...

Made it to the gym Monday and Tuesdday this week, and I took today off. I am now officially thru Week 5 of the C25K and ready to move onto Week 6. The running has been awesome but, I do have a small blister on the bottom of my left foot from it. Going to keep on keeping on. Lately I've been doing the 30 minutes on the crosstrainer and then 30 minutes on the treadmill for an hour of cardio total, which is usually preceded by 30 minutes or so of weights to begin with. I've been pretty wiped when I've left the gym these past few times, and I like that feeling.

I got my measurements and BF taken by the trainer the other day. So, I don't think the BF measurer thing he has is accurate. It still said I was at 25%BF, which there is absolutely no way, at least i don't think, and neither does he... I weighed in at the gym too. I can't seem to get below 212.8, I need to try harder I'm sure. My measurements were good though :)

Here is a list of my measurements we took:

212.8lbs.
25% BF
45.5'' shoulders
40.25" chest
36.25'' waist at bellybutton
22.75'' thigh
14'' calf
12'' arm at bicep
14.75'' neck

Very very nice. So this means since i have began, I have lost 8'' off my waist, almost 5'' off my thighs, 4'' off my chest, 2.5'' off my calves, 1'' off my arms, and I am not sure about my shoulders... I've also lost a total of 34lbs and put on a fair amount of muscle too :coolgleamA:

My trainer says he is going to put me on yet another fun fat burning weight routine he has come up with. This routine though involves me doing one set of a hundred of an exercise, and that is it. I already to three sets of 25 right now but the 100 scares me. I am to the point now where I hate counting reps at the gym.... grrrr.

Hiya Sam,

It's amazing how similar our measurements are and I'm 5'4" and 154 lbs. LOL. I almost fell out of my chair and had to run and dig out my chart just to see.

LOL. Maybe one day I'll post mine. I too have lost some inches since my last measurement in February, but not as much as you. I've gone down about 6.75" only. :(

Anyway, glad you got to the gym and hope you have a fantastic end of the week.

You too Tasha! I can't believe we almost have the same measurements, that is so crazy! Don't be too discouraged about your inches yet. This is about a year out for me, and even though I have lost a good amount of weight and inches (and I am happy with it, really) I know I could have probably lost more by now... Your doing great and come June or so I know we both will be so much closer to our goals ;)

I love the 8'' off my waist but I don't think I notice it on a daily basis like I do my thighs. I used to hate my thighs so bad, they were so big I was rubbing holes in my jeans with them. They drove me nuts, so the 5'' almost off my thighs and the definition I see in my quads and hamstrings is probably my most happy/favorite thing yet.:hurray:

Hey Sam -

Isn't it great when you can look at something and see how far you have come?

My fingers are 2 1/2 ring sizes smaller - insane. Also my stomach doesn't brush the steering wheel anymore, not even close.
Congrats on those victories, they are sometimes as good if not better than a drop in the scale.

I'm excited, especially since I created a new playlist on my ipod for running tonite :) I need to get in a chest/back/shoulder workout too, and I probably will, just depending on how busy my gym is later tonite... It's been so nice here the past couple of days, it was almost 80 today. I actually ran outside yesterday and did 2 miles. I would have done more but my allergies were kicking in pretty bad, so I cut it short. It finally felt great to run outside though :)

Food has been so so. Same old story with me. I need to get to the grocery store and stock up on some salad makings and stuff for this week. I really want to start eating better again.

Good luck with the running outside and allergies. I'm lucky and don't suffer really much at all from them. And I know how hard it is to keep the pantry and fridge stocked with good foods. I soo need to go grocery shopping myself.

How's week 6 D2 going for ya? Were you able to get it done? Tonight I go in for W7D1. Almost to the end of the 9 week program. YAY!!!
 
Just wanted to drop in and say hi. I know what you mean about groceries. I sometimes think my worst food days are absolutely nothing but a function of not having time to shop for the good stuff. What kinds of salads do you make?

Hey errbody...

Haven't made it to the gym in two days now... I am planning on going tonite. I did my legs with the PT on Tuesday and I've been pretty stiff since. My ass really hurts, and its hard for me to sit down, lol. Hopefully I can run some of it out tonite.

I stuffed myself full of sushi yesterday and it was damn good. Yesterday I kind of overdid it. I did get to the grocery store though and got some decent groceries, so I have no excuse to not really be eating better. I also got some more of that lowfat ice cream and had some. I've been eating it out of measuring cup, so at least I know I am not overdoing it with that...

Yesterday I did a photoshoot for my friend's hair school, and I was one of my friend's models. It was pretty fun. He put some blonde tracks in my hair (because mine is pretty dark right now and it would have been next to impossible to dye my hair the shade of blonde he wanted.) When I get some pics back from my friend I might post them, just for fun...
