"Saddle Bag" exercises?

What are the best exercises to help get rid of saddle bags? Those bits that a lot of women have that protrude slightly at the side of the hip/top of thigh.

I know that spot exercises for isolated areas are not the most effective but if you could suggest exercises, cardio or weight training, that will help deal with these saddle bag areas at the same time as other areas of the body then it would be most appreciated! I assume that it would mostly feature around core exercises...

Sorry, but you can't spot reduce to to get rid of saddle bags. You can burn more calories than you take in to lower your fat % and you can do exercises to strengthen your mid section to firm the area up. Focus on typical ab exercises that target the obliques.

as trek says, there is no way, short of surgery, to spot reduce. Isolation trains specific muscles, but you cannot control...not ONE BIT...where the body will burn fat from.

Typically for men, the stomach is the last place the fat is burned...and for women its the hips and butt.

You need a full body workout, cardio, and a proper food intake from healthy foods.

Yeah, I kind of figured that exercises for isolated areas doesn't really work.

For a woman who wants to tone up/lose weight is it better to have an exercise routine where I'm running for half an hour followed by toning exercises or is it better to do 10-15 min bursts of cardio interjected by weight and toning exercises?

Ideally, you should do toning (weights) 1st followed by cardio. That said, you idea of doing cardio bursts with toning in between sound interesting and is worth a try.
