Hey everyone, first time poster here.

My name is Ryan and I have started my quest to lose 30+ pounds. I am a 17 year old male that has been fat for however long I can remember. Over the past year and a half, I broke my wrist and eventually quit the sport that I loved, hockey. I just became depressed and ate a lot to make myself feel better. I was getting no exercise and was just sitting inside all day. Over the past 6 months I have tried numerous times to go on a diet and exercise, but just haven't been able to hold myself accountable and keep with it. So, that is why I am here. I am also recording short videos clips every 1-2 days about my progress to hold myself accountable. When I am done with all my weight loss, I plan to put all the clips together and make one big video showing my transformation. I WILL do this!

So, I started my weight loss regimen about a week ago on April 15th. I am 5 foot 11 inches and started out at a weight of 191 lbs. Every day of the week, except for Saturday, I have been doing interval running and walking for about 30-40 minutes. Also, 3-4 days a week, I have been doing 30 minutes of strength training. I am on a strict diet of fish, chicken, eggs, fruits, and veggies. I have also been drinking 10+ bottles of water a day. Overall, over the past 10 ten days, I have lost 9 lbs. I am currently at a weight of 182 lbs. I am very happy with my results so far.

One thing that I think really helps is setting goals for myself. When I started, I set a goal to get to 160 lbs. I am not quite there, but will be soon! I also made a short term goal of being able to do the diet and exercise program for 7 days. That goal I have achieved and I am very happy with myself. I have now set a goal to stick with it until the end of April. Everyday, I watch motivational weight loss videos on youtube to keep me going.

Overall, I am happy with my progress so far, I don't see much physically, but I do feel better. I also feel more confident in myself. I will try to keep this post updated as often as I can. I am just looking for motivation. I will do this! Thank you guys!

Started getting really bad runners knee over the past few days so I have stopped running for a little bit. I tried P90X's "Cardio-X" last night. Actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Will probably continue using some of the workouts.

Best of luck man. Keep a positive outlook and maintain some goals and I'm sure you'll kill it in no time.

Reached my goal to keep exercising until the end of april. Also, just finished my first week of Insanity; wow its hard. Its been hard to push play everyday after school and everything, but I still do it. Unfortunately, I literally haven't lost weight since that first week of exercise. I have been at 183-181 for the past week, even though my workouts have been more intense. I haven't changed up my diet at all, if anything I started eating more fruit. Not really too sure whats happening. Kind of unmotivating. I've been trying to keep myself from weighing myself to not lose motivation. Hopefully I can get it figured out. Will try to keep this updated...

Damn. Can't really believe I'm here right now. Was searching through some random bookmarks and found this forum. Completely forgot about it. I did reach my goal of losing 30 pounds, as I got down to 157 around in august, about 5 months after my initial post. I was just dieting at the time, doing intermittent fasting eating around 1400 calories a day. When school started at the end of august, my friend introduced me to the gym. And damn, I sure am thankful. I LOVE IT. I've been lifting for about 5 months now and I've made quite a bit of progress. Around thanksgiving, I was at 163, and started a short bulk, to gain muscle. I put on quite a bit of muscle, but some fat too. My bench has gone from 95 to 175, squat from 135 to 235, and I've never maxed out on deadlifts. Overall, I've made some great progress since I started lifted. I ended up being around 185 the day after christmas. Since then, I have lost around 15 pounds and am currently sitting at a plateau of 170 pounds. My goal was to see my abs by my bday in mid February, but I don't know if that is going to happen with this plateau. I just started doing crossfit two weeks ago, and hopefully something new will help me out. And crossfit, holy shit, its hard. But I love it. So much intensity and competition. I do it with my friend who got me into the gym, and we push each other pretty damn hard. Its awesome. I'm gonna keep going, I can feel this fitness craze turning into a lifestyle. I LOVE THIS SHIT.

Finally broke 170... was at 169 this morning. Felt great today, crossfit went very well, did a 6 min amrap of hang cleans and lateral burpess, and after that a 600m sled walk. I love that feeling of accomplishment once you've completed a workout. Felt really good, so went to the gym to work on some abs, biceps and ran a bit. I can definitely tell that crossfit is helping my cardio as one mile at 7 mph felt like nothing. Ended up running 3 miles, most I've done in a longggg time. Gonna do my homework then get some really good rest tonight.
