rude people

If I notice people on the bench with the same weight I workout with I ask if I can join them. It seems two times I've done this the people were rude. Is this typical? I know that you rest between sets so why not let someone jump in.

it seems to be hit and miss, sometimes you get decent people and sometimes you get bench nazis who wouldn't let God himself work in.

yeah agree with --^ here, sometimes the guys you think would be nazis are cooler than hell and the guys who you think wouldnt mind get all butt-hurt about it

it really depends. if I've seen the guy at the gym before, and he doesn't take 9 minutes per set, great, he can work in w/ me.

otherwise, since I only do 3-4 sets per exercise, tops, I usually just say "its my last set so lemmie finish up and its yours"

now, if its the R-tard doing bicep curls in the squat rack...I just stand behind him, staring, until he gets the hint and moves on.

i'm only 5'9", and i'm not a hulk, but I got a bald head, a mean glare, and enough tattoos to intimidate a Hell's Angel....so they usually move along pretty quick.

LOL

I always ask people if I can cut in while they are resting. If some one is there 1st I will always change the weight back fot them after every set.

If they think I'm rude then screw them. Its rude to Hogg the machine or rack if your just sitting there for 3mins during peak times.

My gym is never full. Me and my dad are usually the only ones lifting (except at 6:00 pm when were getting ready to leave then it starts loading up). We have a bunch of treadmill freaks though.

The people at my gym are real nice. I was doing squats once, and this guy corrected me on my form. Same with deadlift.

i dont know exactly what it is about the gym i go to, maybe its what gthey put in the air con but for some reason almost everyone is a dick head.its nearly as bad as on the tube.

I don't see what the problem is and why it would be rude at all if they said no. The simple answer is that they're doing their own thing, they don't know you at all and prefer to do it by themselves or with someone they know.

If you do it, jump in right after they're done with their set. Between some sets I only like to rest for a minute. Then when I move up in weight it's usually 2-3 minutes rest. Just time it well, be polite, and offer to spot them. But sometimes people do their own thing. Say maybe if they tried something with shorter rest, then they might tell you no.

Yep, they don't know your story, you don't know theirs. If they don't wanna share, then either get there earlier, or find a different exercise.

I work out at my school gym during practice and all the guys there are really cool. A few times a couple of the big guys showed me some new exercises or helped me out a bit.

If I'm just finishing a bench set, and another guy wants to just do 10 pounds heavier, and I'm just resting, then I'll let him in. What's the problem? Actually on Monday I finished and this happened.

When I worked out at the YMCA over the summer there were huge massive intimidating guys. They were actually really cool, a few helped me on my form and one spotted me when the bar was about to fall on me. Nobody really hoggs things. They're pretty cool people I've run into at the gyms so far.

holy crap the guy in th epic in your tag use huge

That's Greg Valentine. Those are not real muscles, he injected all kinds of seroids and fillers directly into his arms to get them to look that big. He had a "blowout" last year and had to have one arm surgically rebuilt and then he was arrested for selling steroids, and spent 6 months in jail. Now he has to be tested weekly for drugs as part of his parole!

Ya, usually I find at the gym that the really huge strong guys are the nicest. They may look the most intimidating, but theyre experienced and sometimes try to help out. Its the weaker people that are insecure and need to try and feel superior by being jerks.
