rubber coated dumbbell lifespan?

If I splurged and got nicer rubber coated dumbbells instead of cast iron hex, are they just going to dry rot on me?

I've wondered the same thing. Some of the coated ones are pretty expensive, so I don't want to spend the extra money, only to have them tear up and look all jacked up. Of course, the coating isn't really necessary anyway, just kinda nice.

Yeah, I mainly just like the elliptical handles better, but I also started thinking... my workout room is actually a nice metal building with a smooth concrete floor that I spent a heck of alot of time and money coating with an epoxy finish. I don't really want my dumbbells to chip it all up.

wouldnt the rubber just get slippy if you sweat?

get a pair of weight gloves, only 14/15quids, stop your palms being wrecked

Duno, I ride my bike, and I get REAL sweaty on big fat rides, though my palms never lost grip on the handle bars =/

As for the weight gloves, hmmm might be an idea.
