Rotator Cuff Strain

Anyone ever strained their rotator cuff? I strained mine playing basketball. They said I was out 3-4 weeks with no upper body exercizing.

How long were you out for? Any recommendations or suggestions?
 
The rotator cuff area is actually a series of muscles (SITS muscles). If you think you damaged these muscles figure out from which movement (push,pull,rotation). Also look at your own posture (good or poor). There a many different movements that will help strengthen this area.
I would not try to isolate it during exercises......than again that all depends on just how bad your injuries are.
 
I have strained mine many times, mostly from heavy benchpressing (probably with poor form). It takes anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months to be comfortable lifting heavy again, depending on how bad the strain is.

I would definately recommend getting some rotator cuff rehab exercises. Try the book "7 Minute Rotator Cuff Solution" by Jerry Robinson, Joseph Horrigan or search around on T-Nation, there are several articles there on shoulder joint rehab.
