Rotator cuff injury

Story - A week and a half ago I got back into the gym (had taken a 3 break due to other commitments, e.g. exams) and I did some workouts for my chest. During one of those workouts, as I was lifting the dumbells up, i felt one of my shoulders pop out and back in. I continued working out a few more sets. The next day I was pretending like I was benching to see if there was any pain and i could feel my shoulders hurting abit. It's been a week and a half and I haven't done any weight training since. My shoulder feels a bit sore but the pain is almost gone.

What do you think happened? Did I tear something or? How much longer should I stay out of weight training? I have to do some rotator cuff exercises when I get back into training but I'm scared that this rotator cuff injury is something that won't repair without surgery and it will occur again next time i work out my chest.

Thanks for your time.

If i were you i would see a physio or something,

Youve obviously done something - stetches the capsule (dislocations in the future), labrum tear, cuff tear etc

I know heaps of people who ignore their shoulder problems and they end up having heaps of operations.

better to be safe then sorry i guess

similar case i think

hey, i think i had a similar injury like you...

i played rugby, sometimes later, i reckon that my shoulder is in pain, i cant stretch well... my friend said that it should be a rotator cuff injury,

how do i treat this?

because some of my friend said that no operation needed... just few physio stuff which personal trainer can do..

depends how serious it is.
Dont just assume its a cuff tear.
If its a minor tear youll have to let it heal then perform exercises that target the 4 cuff muscles. If its a major tear surgerys probably the best option.

Get it looked at!

It would be wise to go see a sports doctor. They would be able to help you understand the injury and how bad it may be. Without knowing the real seriausness of the injury, you may cause it more harm! Get it looked at. I'm not saying you will, but if you needed surgery you could still have a full recovery. Please let me know how you made out. I am interesred in knowing!
