Rosa: I know it will be hard.

Started working out last week Friday. :S

And I wasn't planning on writing a diary here since I'm jotting down food intakes and exercises in my personal paper-diary, but as for moods...I had to share.

June 18th, 2009.

Today I hit 1.75miles in 21 minutes on the treadmill, so I was sweating a lot...I was feeling very good about myself. I showed my mom how much I was sweating and she said that it wasn't enough, that I would never lose weight if I sweated only that.

As I write this, sweat is dripping from the end of my hair and between my knees are literally slippery from sweat (sorry for the gross references, but trying to make a point here).

She claims to be supportive, she's the one who stresses me the most about being fat, and for me she bought the juicer and juiced all the veggies, but when it comes to exercise she makes me so upset I want to quit. She makes me feel humiliated and depressed the most. Some people told me to use HER as a motivation, but it doesn't work- although she can be unintentionally mean about stuff like this, we're still close.

But I really hate her sometimes.

Hi Rosa,

Welcome to the forums and congrats for starting your journal :)

Sorry to hear about your mother not being supportive and saying things like that... some people just can't help themselves.

Although it is really hard to do, I would cut her out of the weight loss loop completely.

Why did she buy a juicer and why is she juicing your vegetables? That has ZERO to do with any weight loss plan.

Regarding the exercise .. great you are doing some, that is awesome..forget what your Mom says it is irrelevant... as in fact is most of what you are doing exercise wise, it's nice but even sweating your ass off all day is not going to make you lose that much weight (on it's own) .... If you don't address the key problem.. which is.. FOOD, because that is what put the weight on.. not your lack of exercise.

What do you plan on eating in order to lose weight?

Have you used any of the online calculators to work out what you should be eating in terms of calories per day?

:)

Also sweating is a poor guide to how hard your working out. Some people sweat very little no matter how hard they are working, quantity of sweat is very individual.

Thanks guys!

As for diet, I've been trying to cut down the portions little by little and avoid fatty foods whenever possible.
