Rolling back the clock

I took a page out of your book and upped my calories a bit...not sure if that is what got my scale moving again - or - if it had just been sooooo stuck that it finally had to move....albeit not much! I'll cut calories again next week and see how it goes.

Let's face it - we're not going to get rid of our scales - that number means something to us - just don't let it get you down. You are losing inches. I found myself cracking up today as my pants about shimmied down while I was walking down the hall (they don't have loops for a belt). That in itself reminded me how far I've come. I came home and tried on a dress from my 'other closet' and was surprised (don't know why) that it fit...that means more than any number on the scale right now.

Keep up the great work running - at least you have learned that you enjoy it.

I know this is only related but I am beginning to get a bit freaked out by how much my hours at work are creeping up!!

I have now Bern at the job three months and they are really creeping back up (not to anywhere near where they used to be, but I am hitting just over 50 a week and I know the next few weeks are likely to be at 50-60.

Don't get me wrong if it was a couple of weeks I wouldn't mind but I am worried it won't come back down and u really don't want to end up back where I was before!!

It means I am too tired/at work so cannot exercise and it also means I stress eat and can't have dinner at home so I have to have some kind of food at work. I used to have takeaway every night in last job!!!

At least this time I can make sure I take made up food!!

Sorry slight side track there but it is mostly what's on my mind right now!

Hey lovely...
that sucks about the hours...i used to have that too...like constantly - i was working on several projects at the same time - it actually really encouraged my weight gain :( i put on bout 50 lbs in a really crazy working environment (in 2 years).
So well done that even like this you manage eating healthy and squeeze in some excercize!
& BRING ON the weekend for you!!!
:hurray:

Yeah that's where all 3 stone I put on came from in my old job!!! I did 70 plus every week - it literally almost killed me. I'm really anxious to make sure it does not happen again!!!

Left just before 6 for my hours drive home to go gym tonight. Not letting it get the better of me!!

Charlie

So I really pushed myself in my weights, I upped my weights for the lunges, squats and deadlifts.

I am proud of how far I have come with this and although the scales upset me I noticed last night how much I can see shape coming to my arms etc.

As always my stomach is a mess!! Going to start daily an work from we'd onwards.

Charlie

Hey Charlie - isn't it fantastic when you can see the muscles taking shape? I love it - even if I can only see it from a certain angle. hehe

It's also a great feeling when you can up the weight. Great job challenging yourself.

How do you get on with the lunges? I know they really help - but I detest them. I can do squats and deadlifts all day - with ease and love it....but lunges, I dread. If you have any tips for changing my mindset about them - would love to hear about it.

I hear ya on the work hours. I used to put in 50-60 hours + weekly - when I absolutely loved my job and it didn't seem like work - but it doesn't leave alot of time for healthy eating, exercising, and family/me time at the end of the day. Now I put in my 40 most weeks and call it a week. Hope you find a good balance.

Thanks Jennifer. When I am back in the office in a few weeks I am going to put in a 50 hr curfew to stop it happening!!

Yeah I love challenging myself and the adrenalin kick I got out of doing the higher weights was incredible!!!!

I have to say lunges are not my fav exercise but I don't mind them too much. I hate plank - urgh. I am still doing a half one on my knees, but with my knees quite far back. I really want to get to the point where I can do a proper one but I'm just not ready yet!

Haha I can see the muscles more if I move certain ways - so of course I do this a lot! Haha pretty vain really!! I just wish my stomach would follow suit a bit more!!! I have a good stone still sitting on the front of me before I have any chance of seeing proper muscles!!!

Charlie

Hello Ms Vain! lol - arent we all? i guess it is healthy -and inspires us to become better!!!
Woohooo! Keep up the good job!!!

Charlie

Hehehe Ms. Vain!

I love it! You're doing great! i'm glad to hear that you're starting to see muscles in your arms! I love it! Do you ever stand in front of the mirror and flex? hehehe I do! I'm like "ooo yeah!"

You're doing great girlie! Every time I hop on the treadmill, I think of you!! :) Your race is coming up, excited!?

I'm glad to know things are going good for you!

Welcome back stranger!! :)

I am excited, but still only running 4k when I run for 30 mins, still scared I have not managed to run 5k yet!

Yep - I have just been admiring my back in the mirror - the love handled on my back have finally gone!!! :) xx

Brilliant news missy! Keep up the good work :hurray:

Thanks - i was not expecting it either - i mean it had been getting much much better and was a crease rather than a roll, but i hadnt really noticed (you just dont look at your back that often!! haha) and suddenly it was gone! baby steps.

So i did have a small relapse a few days ago (while on holiday with parents!) i went to an all you can eat buffet and ate.. well yeah all i could eat. Other than that i was not bad and i have not allowed myself to use this as an excuse to give up on my week.

I am determined to be the same if not less this week.

Anyway i am away with work again, which plays havoc with my routines. I had a seeded roll with jam for breakfast, salad for lunch and for dinner a 6 inch subway. Way too much carbs, not enough protein but at least i didnt have a takeaway Pizza or a burger and chips for dinner.

My plan is to get up early tomorrow and go running.... if i dont make it running or i decide its too dark outside it'll be push ups, tricep dips, sit-ups, plank etc in my hotel room.

Although i was getting really down about my lack of weight loss and starting to think maybe i just cannot be a smaller weight (bollocks as i've done it before, but the mind does start to play tricks on you!) i ventured into the before and after section - where i have never been and saw so many amazing journeys and gave myself a good kick up the arse!!! Feel much more calm about the whole thing and the long term goal rather than each weigh in.

Kudos for you planning on getting up early to exercise! I couldn't do that.....this morning I got up to go to the library at 9, change my mind and went back to bed an hour later, I didn't get up properly until 1

Don't worry about the buffet! You just gotta jump back on the bandwagon when you slip up! You CAN do this!

Haha thanks!

A few weeks ago i was really good at it, but it has got harder and now that the clocks have changed over here its almost impossible! My body does not know whats going on!

Charlie

Hmmmmm you are in a bad place when you decide to skip dinner as you cannot exercise - i bloody hate being away from home!

Never mind, back home tomorrow night for 48 hours at least!

xx

Aw that doesn't mean you have to skip dinner. You could just have something light, like a salad with some kind of meat or scrambled eggs. :)

Ok sooooo the good news is despite all my naughtiness last weekend on my trip home I have put on no weight!! Which I think is an achievement given I have done no exercise!!!

I guess I am a tad wound up that I'm bad and lose nothing and I'm good and lose nothing!! But I am looking at this week as a fresh slate and hopefully my metabolism has had a kick start and this week I will lose!!

The best news is I am back home for two days! Today I am going running and then weight lifting, I am sooo excited! X

It's nice to be able to get away without some naughtiness without damage ain't it! I bought a burger and chips with a coke yesterday and did a tiny portion of exercise last night. I done 30 mins of cardio (but no toning) and my scales went down by .2 now that is what I call success

Fingers crossed you see a loss this week! :)
