Rolling back the clock

Today at the gym I did week 5 session 1 of the c25k programme. Glad I am sticking with it.

Weigh in day tomorrow, expecting 2 pounds to take me to a total loss of 18 - fingers crossed!! X

Hello! Welcome to the forum.. You sound like you are doing great! I hope you are taking progress shots... even for your own records. I find them so encouraging.

I'll comment on something.. as you loose weight it actually takes a while before you see yourself how you actually look, so if you take lots of pictures and look at yourself in the mirror lots, you will probably begin to see how thin you actually are. Just don't be critical.. you've made a ton of progress!

I've started doing quite a few weights.. I think its fun, and the good news is muscle is alive so it raises your metabolism and burns more fat just existing then fat does. It also makes you look thinner... its useful, and IMO its pretty hard for a woman to get 'too bulky' esp if you do tons of reps or whatnot.

Keep up the good work! Glad to have you here.

Angel wings no I haven't!! My biggest regret is that I didn't take before photos!!! Such a fool!!! I also avoided cameras so not sure I'll find many/ if any photos of me at my biggest!!

I could take some now for when I get to my goal I guess, but I'd have liked the before one!!

Agree on the weights, and all the experts seem to say that women don't bulk up. I can really see the difference using weights than the last time I lost weight. Last time I had less fat as weighed a lit less but I was not toned as such as it was all diet and cardio!

Thanks for the post :)

sorry things havent been going your way charlie but you`ve lost 18lbs so far and your expectin to lose more for this week which is wonderfull.

Yippeee I did it - 18 pounds this morning!! :) it's nice that I've done it as well!!! I'm a nice boss I try to give my team at work as much glory as I can for work achievements, but this really is all about me!!!! I am very proud.

Now I am upping the stakes a bit this week..... I desperately want to hit another 2 to make it to a loss of 20 in 5 days but saturday!! Not only will I hopefully make the big 20 mark but this week will be measurement time! :)

Day off the gym tonight, away from home this week so can only do cardio as no weights where I'm going - booo!!

go you! how's the hair looking? well done for the weight loss so far. my scales are at a standstill but measurements are on the way down...keep it up. xx

WOW!! 18lbs is fabulous!! Good for you girl! you must be so proud! And your friends better be telling you how awesome you're doing! You don't lose 18lbs without it noticing!! hehe

but isn't it funny how your friends don't comment! I don't know if they're trying to be polite or not! I went out to my friends last night, and I got dressed up and was feel all like, 'yeah, i totally look different and hotter' , and they didn't say anything! boo! but you know what, it's not about what THEY think, it's about what WE think! that's what is important! it's about feeling good about yourself and having confidence! That's all that matters!

I love that you go a new hair cut! sometimes that's what we need to feel completely new!! :) I hope you post pictures! i would love to see it (although, i understand if you don't want too!! :)

I'm just like you! I use to hide away from the camera! there are very few pictures of me before I started my weight loss! pictures were like the worst thing someone could do to me!! I hated seeing myself because I wasn't willing to accept that I need to lose weight! But now that I'm losing, I'm all about the photos! You should take some just for you, so that you can see the changes! it's great to see! Because sometimes we don't notice it when we look at ourselve day to day! :)

Keep up the fantastic work girlie! And keep lifting those weights! You're putting on good muscle, getting toned, and burning more fat than the non-weight-lifting gals!! putting on muscle weight is key!!!

You're doing awesome!!!! And congrats again on the fantastic job so far! -18lbs is AMAZING!

Thanks Tik! I know every time i get frustrated with the time it takes i remind myself of that number - 18 pounds is huge!!

I think when i get back home i will take some photos of my weight now (hopefully by then 20 pounds down!) so that i have those to look at when i am smaller and remind myself how far i have come!

I know i find it very strange!! Before my big night out in two weeks i have a few other friends over this weekend who i am sure will notice and comment (plus they are all sensible size 10-12 rather than size 6's!!) so then i wont mind so much if my other friends dont!

Honestly - girls!!!!! My sister is a frigging nightmare when i diet, she gets really jealous and then tries to make to eat and drink and has a go at me if i dont!! She did it last time i lost a load of weight as well so i know what she is doing but it still really pisses me off, especially when she does it in front of other people.

Anyway on a more positive note i am the proudest i have been on this journey so far - this morning i forced myself to go to a crummy gym at the hotel i am at and to do another couch to 5k session on a crap treadmill with no water and no music and i managed to motivate myself through doing the whole thing just by talking to myself!!! :)

The worst thing about being away - no weights - boo!!! Will do lots when i get back!

Right i am off to attempt to pick through the breakfast buffet for something healthy!

Charlie

Hi Charlie - you're doing amazing! I'm 26 too & I think we're at that age where pretty soon it's going to start getting harder & harder to lose weight. So it makes a lot of sense for us to try to get our weight-loss on right now - also good to get into the habit of sustainable exercise so we don't end up putting it back on & then have to fight even harder to lose the weight in our 30s & 40s.

I only started this journey on Saturday but I hope my results in a couple of months are as good as yours have been. Congrats on the 18lbs - that's pretty freakin cool!

Hi Flame retardant - thanks for the post! I know i am very pleased.

I agree regarding the age - it is harder for me now than when i was 18-19 and did the same thing!! Having made the foolish mistake over a long period of time to get to even more than i started from that time i will not make that mistake again!!!!!!

THIS TIME IT IS NEVER COMING BACK!!!!

Good luck with your weight loss journey, i am sure you will do really well.

On other news the problem with being away from home is that you cant make your own food - which means - you've guessed it - crap to eat!!

I have had too much carbs and fat today - bleurghh!! 2 pounds is looking more and more unlikely in 5 days - well it was a stupid target anyway lol!!

Also having felt ill all day i am not really feeling the getting up at the crack of dawn to go use the gym so i am going to stick to having a day off tomorrow.

Charlie

So thankfully I feel much much better today!

I have done some walking today but nothing strenuous (physically at least!). Feels strange to write this sitting waiting for a pizza to arrive!!! The joys of being away from home!!! I starve myself and then have a hot dinner and can I get anything healthy from the takeaways near the hotel?!?! Can I heck!!

Never mind it'll all even out somehow!!!

So tomorrow morning will be the 8 8 session of the c25k programme, which I think should be ok. Then 10 10 at weekend and then next week the hard work begins with the 20 minutes, which I am nervous about.....

Charliep

Another late night and right now i should be in the gym - am i in there am i hell.......

This is the first time i have really completely lost my weigh and surprise surprise its because im too tired due to a stressful time at work. It is seriously ringing alarm bells as this is exactly how i got into this mess.

So today is unlikely to be any better and i am just going to deal with that so tomorrow i will be doing my run, which means i will be exercising dri sat and sun, so three days in a row just to get my four lots of exercise this week in. Four is the bare minimum.

I am hoping i dont have to come back here for work next week as i really need to be at home, this plays havoc with my diet and exercise!!

Charlie

Can't believe I've not stopped by here before--You're the same height as meeee! Us tall girls gotta stick together ;) Although you weigh less than me right now--Competition time!

Hope you're good and I'll stop by again soon to see how you're doing :) Keep positive! xxxx

Thanks Sunflower, i am good thanks! Do you like your height? I love mine and my long although scarily out of proportion legs, until i am out with my friends from home who are all 5ft3 to 5ft 5 and then i feel like a right wierdo, it is so annoying. Although i guess the fact they are all size 6 doesn't help!!

So I managed to eat a lot better today and i made a pact with myself that as long as i went to the gym tomorrow morning i could not give myself a hard time about today!!

So attempt 2 - tomorrow morning i will be getting up at stupid o clock to go the gym and do the 8 8 session and a few other bits - i will then come back and pack as i am home tomorrow - yippeeee!!!!

Charlie

hey girl!!

*hugs*

Thank you so much for the encouragement! Seeing you do the c25k really kicks my butt into gear! :) It's nice to see how you're progressing!

Sorry to hear you're having a stressful week...i think we all go through those, and then we end up not meeting our own goals (ie., going to the gym)...but girlie, you seem so determined! I love how you're going to go three days in a row just to get your min gym exercise in! that's great! it shows that you're beyond motivated! And seeing how determined you are, is so inspiring!!!

I also know what it's like to feel you're slipping back into your routine! I had a stressful week too, and it took so much to not go back to my normal coping! But you're doing so good! And should be so proud! the fact that you're on here, and saying you're going to go to the gym this weekend proves that you're determined to make this goal happen!

You're doing this, and you're rockin' it!!

Happy friday!! :)

You are doing great! I'm loving the c25k program as well - the 8 8 kicked my butt for a few attempts - I finally lowered my speed and cracked right through it.

Keep up the great work!

Jennifer I am doing 8/8 today I think fingers crossed it'll be ok!!

Tik - thanks I am just terrified of my life becoming like that and I always struggle the weeks I am away from home - they make me wobbly.

So I have lost half a pound while away which I guess is reasonable given what type of food I ate! But I don't think I can get it up much by my weekly weigh in!! Still hoping I can lose another pound, although I'm eating out next 2 nights! Hmmm

Off to the gym now will exercise my arse off for the next couple of days. At the end of the day next week is s new week!!!

Charlie

half a pound while you were away!?! that's great!

it's hard to lose when you're away from home, as your routine is all changed and uprooted!

Wow! To lose while you're away! That's fantastic!!!!! That just shows how determined you are to stick with this, and how much strength you have to exercise/eat right when you're away! Heck, i know i couldn't do that!! LOL

Happy weekend!

Ok so my punishment is complete!!! I went to the gym to do my 8/8 on the treadmill and some other cardio, I ended up doing the 10/10 and a few other bits and then doing a whole weight lifting programme.

Today I hurt everywhere and it feels AMAZING!!!

I ate 1700 calories yesterday but according to my net diary based on the 2 x exercise I did yesterday plus the cooking/cleaning and lifting I did all afternoon like a mad woman I burnt 900 calories extra!!! Mental!!!

I am so proud of myself for doing the 10/10 and for doing two workouts back to back!!! But it means the next stop is 20 minutes which OMG is the one I was worried about!!

Happy weekend to you to Tik.
