Personally I take my protein shake after my workout, but I workout 2 hours after my meal so taking the shake before would just bloat me out far too much for the cardio.
However, Id want some protein and some energy to keep me going if I hadnt eaten before.
Some protein acts a lot quicker than others, so I guess some slightly slower acting stuff would be great before and some quicker acting after the workout - Im no expert, I think the pure whey is the quick acting - hopefully someone will come on and clarify things
