Risty's Diary (Christina)

So glad to hear things went well!

First year tend to be a ton of research and stuff (chemistry, biology, anatomy, etc), and most of that stuff doesn't change, so it shouldn't be that bad.

I'm so glad you are making a change and deciding to pursue this! :)

wow you are powering along there Risty! i cant believe you have lost 50lb already! coor.

I would send you my old clothes but .. uhh yeah heh cost too much and you are smaller than me :D

Hey everyone!

Bruce - welcome to my diary! I do run around the forum, lol. It takes me a while to get through everyone's! Sometimes I'll do half one day, and then half the next day, lol. I'll definately look your diary up either today or tomorrow! Oh and thanks for the kind words, but, it looks to me like you're doing MUCH better job, you're SO close to your goal!

Sara - When I rode my old bike last year (and I only rode it for half an hour) my butt was SOOO sore, I swear it was bruised for days! Holy crap was it sore, I'm hoping the new bike, with a nice gel seat thingy will prove different!

Adam I'm not SO much worried about the bio, it's moreso the nursing classes themselves. There's a lot of info that I need to know for 2nd year in the first year. There's also a lot of techniques on things for example they proper ways to use different type of slings to pick patients up out of bed with the machine... that you don't want to mess up. I mean it's all little things like that. Plus I've forgotten a lot of the abbreviations for things and you NEED to use them in the charts at the hospital. So that's only a couple examples. There's a lot of the nursing things I'm nervous about not redoing but I'll see what they decide for me. I did bad in two classes in first year, one was one of my eng and one was one of my nursing classes. Not the practical stuff but things like using this other writing style, it's so different from how you write in eng and how you cite and everything. So having a refresher on that course would be nice because all projects need to be written in that style. Doing it over would really help me learn it again. Ah well, we'll see, I'll just study my stuff just in case.

Wishes - I might be lighter, but I'm not smaller. I'm a size 14, I think you were a size 12 or something... lol. Hopefully with the biking to work and walking at lunch, plus getting back into my CK next week I'll get to that size 12 soon! Yeah I can't believe I lost 49 pounds so far, it's nuts!

Your butt was probably sore because you were working muscle groups you're not used to working. I have experienced this before after not having ridden my bike in a while and then riding it again. It's just a matter of getting your muscles used to it, which doesn't take very long. The gel seat may or may not help with this. But, gel seats are nice! I love to ride my bike. It's got a flat right now and I'm going to take it to a bike shop so they can tell me how I need to maintain it and so I can get those inserts for the bike that help prevent leaks. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your cycling experience.

jliv Yeah I wasn't sure if it was the butt muscles or just my butt being sore from not being used to sitting on an uncomfortable seat like that, lol. I need to ask how to take care of my bike too because I have absolutely no idea. I think I can pick my bike up today actually, so I'll ask then. Good luck with your bike! I too hope I enjoy my biking!

Hi Risty.. just stopping by to say hey and see how things are going for you. Good luck on the bicycling thing and I hope your butt gets better!! :) It just needs to get accustomed to the use of unused muscles is all. Hopefully you have someone there to rub it out! ;)

Have a great day! :)

Hey Risty, that sounds very promising about the program. I have a feeling the fact that you were there before and them putting you back in the 2nd year will help because they probably have slots to fill in the second year (rather than the first year) because lots of people drop out or transfer after the first year. So they'll be glad to have someone to stick into a slot as someone drops out. I have a feeling you'll be hearing good news from them in Oct! Congrats on the smaller uniform, it is so nice when people notice your weight loss eh?

Wow, I didn't know you guys were so clinical in first year! Hopefully, the you and the advisor works out a plan that works the best :)

And I hate bicycles. The seat is so damn uncomfortable and small (or maybe something else was too damn big ). Hopefully, that soreness goes away though :)

Yeah it's definitely the uncomfy seat. I hope you're having a great day Risty! Can't wait to hear about how you like the bike. :)

Hey there Ms R, how are you girl?? You got yourself a bike now, AWESOME!! I have one at home and my gosh, it's got this huge seat on it, but my ass is numb after I'm done, it hurts big time, and it's strange because the one at the gym is smaller and it doesn't hurt at all. WEIRD!! that's all I can say. I'm so happy your doing well, and your losing those pounds. You try so hard and it's always good when your rewarded for your efforts. Well, keep it up sunshine and in no time, you will be in those size 12 that's a guarantee!
Kim

Howdy Risty,
I am sure you will get in.

booty,Have a great day Tammy

June 1st baby! I thought of our pact when I desperately wanted a bowl of cheerios with that sweet vanilla soy milk today, and I resisted! POWER! Hope you're having a lovely day :)

Yeah but i bet im taller :D
Most of my fat is in the belly and buttocks, the legs etc are all good. I can get clothes on but not do them up round the middle :(
I suspect im gonna be either really small on size when im done, or just heavy for my size. Ill find out when i get there.

jliv Yeah I wasn't sure if it was the butt muscles or just my butt being sore from not being used to sitting on an uncomfortable seat like that, lol. I need to ask how to take care of my bike too because I have absolutely no idea. I think I can pick my bike up today actually, so I'll ask then. Good luck with your bike! Its the butt muscles lol - it goes away :D
As for taking care of the bike, just take it down to the bike shop every 3-6 months and get them to 'service' it like a car. Its cheap ($20ish or so here) and they do most stuff.
The only other thing to check is the tyre pressure which you can do at a gas station (they usually have a car valve). On the side of the tyre it will have a number for how much psi to pump it up (probably about 40ish-60 depending on type of bike .. mine takes 120psi!). That needs to be done every month or two.
Otherwise no maintaince other than buying a pink basket for the front, some tassles and streamers for the handlebars etc :D
Oh and beads for the wheels, clicker to make it sound like a motorbike! :rotflmao:

Hey everyone! I know, I shouldn't miss a day on here.... lol.. I was just so busy yesterday I didn't have time.

I'm so excited about my bike! I bought it on thurs right before work, I still need to get a helmet which I think I'm doing today. My bike is beautiful! Unfortunately it's getting really hot here so me biking and not being used to it in the heat... not gonna be so fun, but I'm gonna do it!

I got an awesome deal on it. My sis and her hubby got a free lock with theirs (because they wanted to get a $50 cheaper bike, but this bike was better for them so the guy was like I'll give you guys a $50 in store credit. Then these locks they wanted were $54 (tax not included yet) and so the guy just gave them the locks. So when I went in I was like, well I want a lock too :p And finally they decidec to give me a lock. Now, they forgot to call me, so I waited 4 days and then called them and there was this lil mess of trying to get my bike in and finally it got in and was supposed to be ready in the AM so I called and it wasn't ready so they said it'll be done by 12, so I get there, and it's not ready, so I had to wait a bit and I told them I work at 1 I can't wait much longer, so anyways, I got the bike for $550 even (the bike itself is $549.99. SO not only did I get the lock for free, they didn't charge tax WOO!

Sara - Yes it's June and I'm soooo proud of you resisting that cereal! What happened to oatmeal :p lol I'm glad I'm on my cleanse right now so that I get a good start! Monday though, I hope my eating will go well! I can do it! LOL

Adam - Yeah it gets clinical fast because you're already doing your practicums in the 2nd half of the first year. So you do need to know the basics and the terms, etc etc. So I hope that I get in and I hope that with whatever they decide I'll be able to do.
The seat is so damn uncomfortable and small (or maybe something else was too damn big )
You too funny! I hate to burst your bubble, but I don't think that's the issue, lol.

Tammy - Yeah I hate sizes. I'm definately a 14 but I'm 8 pounds lighter, that's what confuses me. Although you could have more muscle, I think that's my issue, less muscle more fat. One day that shant be the case! LOL

MissLadyBug - I'm not doing so well for the past couple months, I've been kinda stuck and especially so since my surgery. I'm glad that on monday I'll be getting back to my CK, however, it was nice for a nice lazy break! LOL I hope the biking does me well too.

Wishes - My fat is equally everywhere I think. When I was lighter is was mostly in my thighs but when I gained weight I gained everywhere but more in my tummy so I evened out, actually I think my tummy surpassed my lower body. It's kinda weird, but I am losing it everywhere which is nice. I really want to get to that size 12 soon! I also hope that when I start riding my bike, the sore butt thing won't last too long, lol. Oh and thanks for the advice on the bikes, I really had no idea :)

Cripe $550, I bet it's a gorgeous bike! Oh good job on haggling ;) It's so funny to me how if you had never said anything, you would have paid an unnecessary extra $50+ I think it's awesome to take the initiative and work down a price. It's so fun!

lol I know right! I did end up having oatmeal, but I just don't love it.....:( it's simply not as yummy. But I am happy you suggested it, because it is very healthy and and a good alternative. I feel like all I eat is berries and egg whites.

So are you documenting your cleanse on here?

I have mentioned it on here, but I haven't said anything really specific. I will weight myself at the end of the whole thing and see if I've lost anything from it. And hopefully if I do, that it'll stay off and I will be rid of my plateau and work on losing more weight... of course, lol.

Yeah I'm not much for haggling but it is awesome to get things cheaper. My sis and her hubby came and I had them there to help me chose a bike but also to help me with the whole lock thing, lol.

I know oatmeal isn't the most yummy thing, but it's healthy and you're not tempted to binge on it :D I quite enjoy my oatmeal in the morning, not because the taste, but because I know I'm eating well and healthy and I'm not getting all the crap that's in cereals :) So, think of it as nutrition and feeding the body and not, well it doesn't taste as good as cereal. I'm trying to think of more food like that, as nutrition for the body and not so much of it tastes good so I'll eat a bunch of it even though my body doesn't need it! lol... ya know? It doesn't always work, but one step at a time. I have my breakfast down! My snacks down! Lunches are mostly good! Supper... that's the challenge, hehe.

So I did walk to and from work today, but I wasn't able to walk during lunch as planned. The Dr's at our work give us a $50 certificate at this uniform shop every year so we can get new uniforms (which is so nice!). Last year I was wearing XL, my mom got me L for my b-day and now I bought Mediums! (Yes, shopping is why I didn't walk, but it was much needed!) The large were way too big and so when I went in the store the ladies remember me and my mom and they couldn't believe how I looked! They said I looked so different and when i was trying on the medium scrubs they were all so excited for me, it was awesome!

I went to work and showed the ladies I worked with my new uniforms and they couldn't believe it, hehe. They said I looked really good (esp now that the clothes fit, lol). As I was walking away this one lady was like, ooo what a nice small butt!!!! I laughed so much... it so isn't small, but it is a lot smaller comparing to before, hehe. That so made my day.

All of this is totally awesome !!! Way to go girl !!!

OH and on to other news.... my bike came in and it's being put together tomorrow! So I should be able to pick it up tomorrow or the day after, YAY! This means I'll be more broke, but fitter, lol.

OH and on to other other news... I went to that appointment at the school for information. The lady said that I had to hand in the college transcript and they would most likely put me into 2nd year if I got in. So it sounds like they would be the ones decided if and what I would need to redo in my first year... if any... so I'm going to start studying in a while to review everything in case I do get in and they do put me straight into 2nd year. Mid-October is when I'll be applying so a few months after that I should find out whether I get in or not and in what year. I am SOOO hoping everything goes well, I want this so bad.

Excelletn on the bike and woohoo abt your schooling that is so great to hear - Im happy for you !!!

I'm so excited about my bike! I bought it on thurs right before work, I still need to get a helmet which I think I'm doing today. My bike is beautiful! Unfortunately it's getting really hot here so me biking and not being used to it in the heat... not gonna be so fun, but I'm gonna do it!

Yes you got your bike!!! I am no good at bickering either ... heh heheh hehe...im so glad you got your bike and your all execited abt it and got a deal on it and a free locka nd best of all no tax!!! No go get a helment girl!!! And happy riding

How hot has it been up there - i think abt you in our heat b/c it has been pretty damn hot here...and for you up there it is hotter!!! Sorry I havent been around for a bit - Im sleepign in later in the ams and the evenings are hard for me to get online...ive just been postign in my diary and trying to get to a few a day...

Hey Cerella,

It's barely summer and it's already been 34  I don't even want to think about mid-summer.... hell. I hate the heat. I was born up north so I'm not used to it even though i've been here forever. Now I'm not used to extreme cold from being here and I'm still not used to heat.... *sigh* lol

I didn't buy my helmet yesterday as planned because my sis, her hubby, my bf and I were looking at some townhouses. My sis and her hubby wants to buy one but they would need help paying the morgage, so my bf and I would be renting from them. They're really nice. My bf and I were wanting a 2 bedroom anyways and a 2 bedroom apartment would be just as much as renting for them and with them there's more room and it's much nicer :D So they're going to try and sell their condo for a down payment for the townhouse and hopefully they'll be able to get financing for it, that's the hard part.

After looking at all the townhouses we went swimming for a few hours in my bf's parent's pool and it was nice :D So after the swimming and walking around looking at houses, going up and down many many stairs, my claves are sore today, lol. So sad! But hey, at least I know I did something :p lol

Today I'll get my helmet and I'll see if my sis will bike with me to my one work to see how long it'll take me to get there and which route I should take. Or we might bike from the townhouse to the mall and see how long that takes. So I still have to see if we're doing any of that but if not I will be biking to work tomorrow.

Hey Risty!! Swimming is one of the best exercises you can get, so great job on doing that! And your bike, AWESOME! I love the heat, I was born and raised in California, so I'm pretty used to it. I have a pool, so after work in the summer I like to come home strip down and jump in for an hour or so. It gets so hot here in Oklahoma usually in the upper 90's in the summer and even some YUKKY 100's which I can go without. Well, I hope the rest of your day is good and It sounds like your recovering well from your surgery. :jump: Later gator!
