Risty's Diary (Christina)

Lukewarm - Well, the tattoo I want to get would be something japanese. I'm thinking some sort of anime character (maybe an angel or fairy type of anime character) and maybe something to do with cherry blossoms. I don't know, I'm trying to look on the internet for different ideas. But I'd definately love some sort of pretty anime character on me, I'm thinking maybe my back! I saw this awesome anime tat but the girl in the tat looked so sad, but it was the kewlest thing, but I want something happy!

About biking, I hope it'll go well when I start! I'm going to ask this one girl at work who lives close to me and she works at the farthest office, and I'll ask her what route she takes (she just started biking to work a couple weeks ago). I'm going to the bike shop with my sis and her hubby on weds and I'll see if my bf will come too, and I'll take a look at bikes and decide if I should buy a new one or not. I love her bike she got, looks better than my old one, and it seems like it rides better too. My old one is I think too small, but I don't know, it's just not comfortable. I used to ride it when I was like 12... lol.

Cerella - You are such a sweetie! You always make me smile :D

M2M - What kinda things do you need to haul around??? If it's necessary things, then I can see why you would rather drive, but maybe a trailer thingy on your bike wouldn't be too bad either, lol.

Mal - Yeah I definatley would save a ton of money! I'd be saving like $100 a month just biking to work!

Yup, its definitely time for a new bike Rist! I would feel a lot more into the idea if others at work were also doing it. Hopefully there's a safe route where you wont come into contact with cars :).

Risty, I used to love biking - went 25 miles a day. It was great fun and great exercise. I can't really do it anymore because of neck surgery, but I miss it a lot.

Hope you find a nice tat for yourself. And make sure you get it done with non-carcinogenic inks!

I've been toying with the idea of getting a bike myself but I wander around my neighborhood and there's really no good place to ride that's car free or people free :) playing dodge bike with taxis and busses doesn't sound like a fun idea )

I used to ride crazy in my city when I was in my teens and 20's. I loved dodging in and out of the cars, flying through a yellow light as it was turning red and cars were already starting to go through the intersection, and flying off curbs at top speed. I was such a tomboy and loved competing with the many bike messengers, that was my favorite. We would be at a light and they would be so shocked when I would keep up with them and be more daredevil than them. What fun! Alas, after living in Bermuda for 2 years and biking there, I began to DESPISE city biking. And that was the end of my decade and a half bike for transportation lifestyle (until 9/11 when I was too scared to get on a subway for 7 months).

Howdy Risty,
Glad your feeling better GF!!Ok this is now the 3rd diary
that mentioned bike riding,I may have to drag hubbys bike out and go for it.
Last year I tried and I swear I was terrifieing of falling off hitting a bump the wrong way ect lol.I used to ride up and jump ramps as a preteen and now I am scared of flat land lol whats wrong with me.
It is definatley a whole different workout than my stationary bike.
Hope you have a fun ride and a gr8 day Tammy

Risty that's so cool! I love the Japanese anime and art as well. I have a faerie! When I get my computer back I'll show you a picture of her. She's so beautiful, I got her when I was 18. She has a tiny pixie face but she looks satisfied and serene. My artist gave her my hair, so that we're like sisters. I sound crazy. hahahaha. I'm thinking about getting one on the back of my neck, nearly inside my hairline, or one one my back as well. I like symmetry though and I have one on my hipbone, and though I'm happy with her there, I wish I would have placed her in a way that supported the symmetry. Where on your back exactly?

LOL yes you need a new bike! You sound like my friend, she refuses to stop riding this bike that is clearly meant for a child. I bought one a couple years ago, and I liked the male bikes, and I hated the girl bikes, but now I just don't like how thick the 'poles' are. I wish I had bought a bike with a thinner, more streamlined look. It's so cool you're going to ride to work, if I could get over the sore bum thing, I'd ride mine more often.

I hope you're having a beautiful day!

Mal - LOL... playing dodge with taxis and busses don't sound fun at all. Unfortunately no matter which route I take to get to work there will be cars involved. This one lady I work with bikes to work and she lives near me so tonight she's going to think of the best route for me which is so nice of her!

Blancita You were nuts! I am so scared of cars on my bike and I always was. Now I'm more scared because I've only ridden my bike twice last year and only once the year before and prior to that I hadn't ridden it since I was like 15! So I felt all unstable on it which made it more scary near a car, lol.

Tom - Sorry to hear you can't bike ride because of your neck surgery. Will that be a permanent thing or just until it heals up more?

Tammy - I think all the bike talk on the other diaries plus the one lady I work with biking to work made me really think I should start (that and the ever increasing gas prices). I just saw that she could do it (plus she goes on an actual bike ride before work!) so I thought to myself... well why can't I then? I need to find ways to get more fit, and that would be perfect. So why dont you give it a try too, it'll be a nice change from walking and work out your muscles diff!

Sara - I can't believe you like that stuff too! That just makes you so much more awesome than you already were, lol. I SOOOOOO wanna see your tat! I also love how you wrote faerie... I always want to write it like that but most people are used to seeing it the other way and so I don't want to seem like I'm writing things wrong... but yeah! I think it's stupid of me to think like that to begin with :p But yeah, I would totally love to see your tat, I'm so excited, get your computer back ASAP! lol About the whole symmetry thing, I agree with you and so I'm trying to think of ways where I can make it work. I was thinking of having her on one side on my back and then on the other side having another one. I was kinda also playing with the idea of having her on the one side with the other side being a mirror image of her but different. Kind of like one side being the "good/light" other side being the "bad/dark" the whole kind if angel/devil idea. I think that would look awesome as well. Oh and about the one you wanna get on your neck... what would that one be?

Ahh so cool! The mirror image idea is absolutely fantastic!! I kinda want to steal it...well borrow it Well it may sound a little fantastical but I was considering having a small intricate sword on my neck. Straight up and down you know? Because I feel like the faerie represents a part of me that is very idealistic, romantic, and curious, however I feel as though I need something that is a symbol of my strength of mind (and body soon hahaha) and how I've grown. It's a little weird though because both of those contain the fantasy theme. My friend who's getting a tattoo with me in August doesn't really get it I don't think, she just thinks it's weird  So the mirror image is a beautiful idea. Are you thinking your shoulderblades then? I really love the light/dark aspect of your idea, because I was thinking that I didn't want anymore color. She's wearing a fuschia whisp of a dress, with turquoise wings, and this orangish-reddish hair. To have another done in black would be really gorgeous......I won't steal your idea, but I certainly want to! ;) What colors were you thinking? Make sure to keep your complexion in mind, and I think you're a winter...or maybe a summer...correct? I'm a spring so I used high-impact versions of my colors. I love talking about this!

Sara, I love talking about this too! Hey, if you want to use that idea go for it! Even if we both used that idea we'd have completely different tats which is why they're so awesome because they can be so personalized.

About your sword idea that's another one I've always wanted to get. I always wanted a sword with a rose and thorns or a sword with a snake... but for sure a sword! I love swords, I used to wear sword necklaces and everything, hehehe. I also love the idea of the sword being at the neck, I think it's perfect!

About what I want, I don't know if I want colour or have it in black and white. It's a really hard decision! I think that if I just got one faerie, then I would do it in colour, but if I got the mirror image I'd do it in black and white depending on what it is. I mean if you take it literally and do a devil and an angel I would consider the whole red/black for the devil and the whitish with light blue/black for shading and things. I don't know, I mean there's so much that can be done. But I don't think I will go with the whole devil/angel thing. I think I would kind of like a dark faerie (or possibly elf) and then a light/good one. In choosing colours I don't know what I am (as in winter or whanot) all I know is my skin is light, however if I actually went outside I can tan like there's no tomorrow! lol

I want more than one tat I know that for sure. I want one on my back, neck, and ankle for sure.

Man I'm getting too excited about it! I won't be getting it for a while. I want to get it as a reward and to actually symbolize my achievement of my weight loss. So for that big tat I would like to wait until I reach my main goal and I want that tat to be my first.

Thank you so much for the kind words earlier :)

Bikeing is a good idea. I've heard some studies though, that riding a bike can be very unhealthy for a male (it tends to decrease circulation to the...you get the point). No lie, I'm not joking with you.

But, I adjusted my seat and I don't ride for prolong periods of time, so its not that bad. But, grr! my friend (who was close to 300 lbs at the time) rode my bike without me knowing and broke my pedals. Grrr! He says he's gonna fix it though...but when...

And riding should be very safe after your surgery. My gosh (politically correct term) gas here hit $3.15, its freaking insane. You will be saving a ton of money as well.

Talk to you later and have a good nite.

p.s. One more thing, good luck on your tatoo. I was never big on tatoos, never got one and never plan to :). When I was in my teens, I begged my mom to get my ears pierced (well, just one ear pierced, it was the current trend). She was like "no adam, when you turn 18. you can". I turned 18 and thank her everyday; I currently do not have any piercings, nor do I plan to get any :p

glad to see youre healing! And oh come on after having a surgery it's fine to relax a while so you can get better. You have the will to do it so a week off wont hurt you. Biking to work will surely help you on your journey and it's gutsy to do! I'd be getting to work with sweat all over haha. So be safe and continue to feel better :)

*sigh* $3.15 sounds heavenly (but yeah it is crazy everywhere!)

Adam - Thanks for your kind words as well! You're great to talk to.

I'm sorry about your bike, I hope your friend fixes it soon. If I were your friend I'd be feeling soooooooooo bad!

About the gas prices, yours is $2 cheaper than mine! It is really nuts and it'll only get worse for summer. So yeah, biking will definately save a lot of money.

Drywit - I thought it was insane but I saw a lady biking to work and she lives near me and works with me and she looks perfectly fine after! She's more fit, but that's ok! I'll get to that point one day, lol.

Me 2!!! I cant wait to get my weight down to my mini goal to get another tat!!! Iknow what I want and where I want it!!!

Cinderelly what/where is yours going to be? OMG Risty your gas is $5.15? Are you serious? Canadian dollars must be worth more than American dollars. I can see why you're riding your bike to work. Gas around here is about $3.50.

Oh thanks! It's so cool that you like my sword/neck idea! :) I think it could be really hot, one of my favorite models, who is actually from the Pensacola area, has a little hanger on the back of her neck. She's literally a clothes hanger! I thought that was so awesome, so that's where I saw the neck tattoo. When someone first hears 'neck tattoo' it doesn't sound feminine or delicate...but I think it could be. One can be delicate yet strong.

Well if you're a winter like it appears you are, then you look really great in jewel tones. My mom's best color is a true purple or true blue. She's a winter...but then that light mint green looked really gorgeous on you! So perhaps a summer. Which do you think you are?

Congrats to you for deciding to bike. I wish I were close enough but I commute 35 miles one way. I do, however, have a little diesel car that gets almost 50 mpg. So its not too bad!

Good luck on the tat.

I took my tape off my stitches... had to take it off in the shower cause they were kinda stuck. I don't know how long it'll take the stitches to dissolve, but I know they're still there. I have a lil end sticking out... I'm thinking.. I hope that doesn't get caught on anything!

So I took a look at bikes and I'm going to get the same kind my sister and her husband got. They're sooo nice (nice and expensive :p) but over time it'll save me money. And yes it's true our gas is over $5 and no our canadian dollars are not worth more than american dollars. However, our canadian dollar is the highest it's been in about 30 years and it's getting close to the american dollar, but it's still under. Apparently on the news we have the highest gas prices in all of Canada.... YAY... for Pete's sake...

Anyways, about the bike, they didn't have the size I needed in store of the colour I want. So they're gonna see if another one of their stores have it and if not it has to get ordered in so I'd get it in by mid next week (hopefully early). I was hoping to start biking tom, but I want my colour! So next week sometime it is!

Sara - About the whole neck/delicate tattoo thing... it can be depending on what you get! If you get a huge tiger or something, that's not so delicate... lol.

I really don't know what I am... I'm thinking more winter. But I don't have any idea what to base it on... I don't wear many colours because I don't have too many clothes yet (until I get thinner) then I'll play with colours, lol.

Cerella - what's your mini goal for your next tat? Was it getting to onderland?

Soontobemrs - Welcome to my diary! Yeah I'm lucky my work isn't too far. My farthest office takes 15-20 mins max to drive... but the 20 mins is more due to traffic. This lady that lives near me can bike it in 15, but she's better at biking. So eventually I think I can bike it in the same time I drove it! The other 2 offices are closer, so i'm not worried about the time it'll take. I'll just be glad to save money, be doing something active outside and improve my fitness!

Hi Risty. Biking to work will be great for you! Glad the surgery is healing up nicely. Have a terrific day.

Risty what color are you waiting for? I'm really curious about what kind of bike it is too, I hope that you get it soon.

I had the dissolvable stitches in my mouth and they were there for 1.5 months. Finally I had to snip the random stray ends myself. I hope you're not feeling too much pain any longer, especially if you're going to be biking to work soon. Have a beautiful day! :)
