Rissa's Weight Loss Journey

If nothing else, I will do a mile on the treadmill before I get in the shower at night.

Okay, I will hold you to that.

Good luck on your studies. I am currently writting my Doctorate dissertation. The hard part of that is not having a set due date or schedule. I sometimes find that weeks have gone by without me working on it.

hang in there

Just wanted to let you know I got my mile in last night. I had to take a break from school work because I felt like I was going cross eyed and then saw I had an email from this site and read you were gonna hold me to it, so for my break I went ahead and walked! Thanks!

Good luck on your doctorate. I once did a certificate program that was self paced and had to be done by a certain date and I would find myself going days without working on it too. I definitely like having a set schedule and due dates or other things would take priority.

Well done Rissa (and Brawny for making sure the reminder was there.) As a forum n00b it's nice to see that members look out for one another...

I went ahead and walked!

:party:Way to go!!!!

I bet you felt better after that mile than you did before!!! You just scored a tiny victory. If you string a few of those together....thats when noticable progress is made!!! Proud of ya kiddo!

Total: 7.75 inches lost, overall

Can you imagine how surprised I was to get on the scale this morning and have a 2 pound loss? VERY! TOM is still hanging around... yesterday I was exciting to have maintained my weight on the day TOM showed up, but to lose... just awesomely unexpected!

Yesterday was a great day all the way around. I managed to knock out a bunch of school work. Potty training Keegan went well. The only accident he had yesterday was when he was playing video games with his dad. I have never seen a 3 year old so obsessed with video games. I asked him why he didn't go to the bathroom and his reply was "I was busy having too much fun". Well, excuse me then. Good thing he was sitting on his vinyl bean bag chair and not the couch, it was an easy clean up. I stayed on my schedule I have for myself. I ended the night with a clean kitchen, all the laundry done, and the house clean. Except the kids rooms... I have always cleaned them and am now trying to get the kids to clean their own rooms.

I was up from 6 am- 1 am. I drank 256 oz of water during that time. Nope, thats not a typo. I was worried about water posioining but I am fine. lol. I am definitely in ketosis with this dry mouth. I just keep drinking my water.

I did a mile on the treadmill and I really owe it to Brawny! I wouldn't have thought about doing it, I was just gonna sit at the desk and rest my eyes. Decided to check my email before I did that and saw his message that he was going to hold me to my mile. I dont have many people who check in with my diary (only 2 I am aware of) so not wanting to disappoint, I did my mile. I felt energized afterwards and was able to knock out some more school work. It took me 20 minutes. When I was in high school, one of my best friends was a long distance runner on the track team and I used to help her train when I wasn't working. Her coach was always trying to get me to join the team, but I had a job so I wasn't always available for meets and practices, and I would rather have my car than run in a big circle for my school. Anyways, the point is that a 20 minute mile is not that great so I plan on working on that time. I would also like to walk more than 20 minutes and will work on that when I get school a little more under control.

Day 8 Meal Plan
B: Atkins Shake
L: Leftover Chicken Parm (no cheese/sauce) Huge spinach salad
D: Taco Bake, Mexican Style Cauli Rice, Salad
S: Crystal Light, Pizza Roll
Water Goal: 128 oz

I am putting the crack slaw off for one more day. I saw bowulfs taco bake and decided my thawed ground beef would be much tastier in that dish! I am sharing the link for anyone interested. I am also posting pictures of my dinner last night. I had chicken parmesan and spaghetti squash and it was delicious. For the chicken, I just mixed up some parm cheese and mrs. dash garlic and herb seasoning. I pounded the chicken about 1/4" thick and dipped in egg white and then the parm mixture. I fried it up on the stove top in some veggie oil. When it started to get brown and crispy, I moved it to my baking sheet, topped with a tomato sauce (tomato paste watered down a small bit, diced onion, and mrs. dash tomato, basil and garlic seasoning) and topped with mozzarella. I let it finish cooking and then broiled it for a bit to get the cheese yummy. (Sorry for the crap quality, pics were taken on my cell phone)

Where you at, girl? It's gonna be hard to motivate you if you're not checking in! I hope you're just busy with those kids and their crazy schedules! I am keeping my fingers crossed that you are still on plan. Just remember that wedding you're getting ready for! You're gonna look super hot walking down the aisle!

Yes, I really do think it made a difference. I honestly wouldn't have thought about it, but I checked the message at the right time so instead of sitting in my office chair, I went into the workout room and walked!

Welcome to the boards, btw. I haven't been here long, but I really like writing about my dieting days.

:D Thanks! You're exactly right. I did feel much better afterwards. More energized. I was able to get alot of school work done last night! Thanks again!

I am still here, just am pretty worn out and feeling crazy and emotional.

SO PROUD OF YOU!!! You are amazing!!! and the chicken looks delish!!!! I gotta try that one!! I think it would definitely be something that everybody here would like......which is very hard to find!!!

I did wonderful until today....as of Monday was down 10lbs even. Monday morning got up at 5 and walked and then with ballgames didn't get home until late. Because I didn't go to bed until after 1am decided I would need the extra hour of sleep on Tuesday and I would try and walk Tuesday night. Tuesday morning got up and it looked like I had gained 2 lbs.......What the heck???? Killed me!!! I knew it prob wasn't real but still....... I really hate the scale!!! My fiancé and I had a meeting with our wedding coordinator, which is about an 1 1/2 hr away from my house, so while I was in OKC I took my son who is in college to dinner. Didn't do bad but was still something I wouldn't have ate and probably more than if I was at home. It was after 11 when we got back home and I was drained!! So off to bed. Today was a killer, with a list of 20 million things to do and no time to do them......STRESS overwhelming me, so I ate SUGAR! Its after 11pm now and we just got home from games, one son hasn't ate so fixing him burritos, still have paperwork to do and basketball jerseys to wash for tomorrow's games plus fiance's daughter will be here tomorrow night with her boyfriend and the house is a pit! I feel an all nighter coming on boooooo!! Tomorrow is 3 basketball games that are an hour away, plus Brittany being here. BTW ....Did I mention that she only eats organic and gluten free due to alot of stomach issues......SO WHAT IN THE WORLD DO I FEED HER!!! Our little grocery store has NOTHNG organic or gluten free. I knew that this week would be busy but didn't realize how stressed and mentally drained I would be. No exercise Tuesday or Wednesday.....Not looking good for tomorrow or friday. I have one more month before I MUST start trying on dresses or take measurements for a dress I found that I like and have it made.......and feeling very blah. Thought everybody was supposed to be very motivated in January?!?!?! Its only the 11th and I am already fallen off of the wagon.

OK.....pitty party over with........REGROUPING.....

So plan for tomorrow is water, wear pediometer and see how many steps I am getting in without exercising,

Grilled Chicken with salsa and green beans for lunch

????? for dinner since I have no idea where I will even be at.

Really refocus and try and get it back together.

Gonna see who I might could find to hire to clean my house on short notice.

As for now, I gotta get out of here and get lots of stuff done.

(I have no idea why my font keeps changing sizes.....SORRY)

Starting Weight: 222.2 (1/3) Today's Weight: 208.4 or 207.8 Total Loss: 13.8 or 14.4

The reason I am not quite sure is because of my sweet boxer girls decided to get up at 6 am for a potty break.

I had stayed up really late and I really wanted to sleep in today. I got up to let them out, I used the bathroom, and decided to weigh myself since I was in there. I weighed 208.4. I looked at my warm bed and decided to crawl back in until the kids woke up. My husband got the kids up and got breakfast going and let me sleep til 10:30 so when I got up, of course I had to use the bathroom again, and I weighed myself after and it was 207.8. I am not sure which one I should log for today's weight. I normally get up 3-4 times a night to pee, but I am usually half asleep and not thinking about weighing myself. That burst of cold air letting the dogs out and back in kinda woke me up, I guess. For anyone reading, which one would you log for today's weight?

I made Linda Sue's Pizza Topping Casserole last night and I have to say it was yummy! The bottom layer is ground sausage, then pizza sauce (walmarts great value pizza sauce has the lowest net carbs) then mozzarella cheese, then your toppings and a bit more mozzarella cheese. I didnt cook any of the toppings, just the sausage. I put it all together and popped it under the broiler for about 5 minutes. Yum! My husband loved it too. He said it taste just like pizza without the bread.

Day 11 Meal Plan

B: Bacon

L: Steak & Cheese Salad w/ Mushrooms & Onons

D: Aussie Springs Chicken, Bacon & Cabbage Stir Fry

S: None... havent really felt snackish the last few days

Classes are going really well. I am extremely busy, but I have been able to absorb the material and do well on all my assignments. Can't ask for more than that! We just made the final reservations for our Disney Trip. We were originally going June 24-July 1 but my 2 brothers and mom decided to try to coordinate the trip so we could all go and the only week we could all make work was June 17-June 24. I am really excited they are all going, it will be more fun for the kids with all their cousins there. I am very close to my mom and brothers so I am really looking forward to it. It's even more motivation to lose weight. My mom is picture crazy and it makes her nuts that I always duck out of pictures, or turn my head at the last minute. I saw them all on New Years weghing 222.2, and I wont see them again until we get to Disney. I am hoping to shock everyone. My daughter wants to do the Disney Princess Breakfast when we get there. It's where she gets to dress up as a princess and dine with the Disney Princesses. She wants me to dress up too. We are doing it for her birthday and it will only be the two of us, so I am hoping to get to a weight where I wont look more ridiculous than any other grown woman dressed as a princess. I surely do not want to be a fat princess. lol.

Well, guess thats it. Off to do more homework.

Laticia,

I dont have much advice for that crazy lifestyle of yours except when you falter, start over ASAP. Dont let it be an excuse to binge and start back tomorrow or monday. We're human and we make mistakes. We gotta forgive ourselves and move on. We didnt get fat overnight and we have some bad habits to break. I know you can do this! Maybe stop weighing yourself for a while. Try to go by how clothes are fitting. You're probably just retaining water or something simple like that. It really sounds like you need some time for yourself. Is there anything you can delegate to try to get something off your plate? There's another diary on here about a woman who's decided she's tired of doing everything for everyone, and this will be her selfish year. Obviously, I am not saying stop doing everything for your kids and family but I know when I was 10 I had to do my own laundry and my parents kept microwaveable food in the house so we could heat up our own food. I hope basketball season is almost over but your kids probably play other sports... damn athletes! :D Reading about your day makes me tired and I am a busy woman myself. lol. Oh, have you been keeping snacks with you in case cravings hit when your at the games? I keep jerky in my purse. lol.

Starting Weight: 222.2 (1/3) Today's Weight: 207.2 Total Loss: 15

My first mini goal is 199. I am 8.2 pounds away. I will definitely meet that goal before Feb 1!

Back to my school work, just wanted to do a quick update.

Having god diet plan is the most essential part to get the good health. You have shared the good plan for weight lose with each and every specific detail.

Great job...but you gotta quit putting those yummy looking food pictures on here. I almost licked my computer screen...ha...Just kiddin I like your food info. 199 will be here soon!

Way to Go girl!!! You are amazing!! Carolhardin is exactly correct about the planning and I think you have it down perfect!! So proud of you!! I would use the 207, but that's just me. It was probably water weight and it will all balance out in the end.

Hope school is going well and love the puppies!! PRECIOUS!!

Family trips are the best. I am the only child so my children get spoiled by my parents! We have went on several family vacations lately instead of buying gifts. For example, we went skiing the week of Thanksgiving and made Christmas alot smaller this year. Such a wonderful way to make memories that will last a lifetime!!

Now back to my update. I am off today so I am really going to do some relaxing, me time, and planning for the week ahead. Wedding planning is going great. We have a photographer, florist, venue, brides and groom's cakes, menu, colors, and bridesmaid dresses all picked out. On my TO DO LIST is get Save the Date magnets done this week and ordered and then talk to our pastor about marring us. My two middle boys are at a friends house and their daughter came her to our house to spend the night with my daughter so should be a quite day around here. WHOOOHOOOO!!!! HUGE BLESSING!! My oldest son is back at college regularly now :(. He goes to a college that is known for their dance/theater/music programs so they have lots of menus that are very healthy. This exposure has really benefited him. He is a big guy, not necessarily overweight but could have stand to lose a few pounds. When he came home during Christmas I noticed that he had lost some but didn't know how much. He said he has lost almost 20lbs!!! So proud of him!! Not just for the weight loss but that he is trying new things and sees that items can be healthy and taste good. Other great news is that the 8th grade boys (#2 son) won 1st place in the tournament that they played in last week, so even though it was stressful, was so much fun to watch them. It was the first time ever that our school's 8th graders have won this tournament! So they were pumped! This week we have another tournament but not all of the other games mixed in there with it. Baseball season is when my life gets out of control crazy. I have one son who has always played on a traveling or tournament team, plus they usually played league games during the week, then when you multiplied that times 3 other kids who play league.....NUTS. However, I am hoping that this years schedule will be better. My daughter should be the only one playing league ball and #2 and 3 sons will be on the same school ball and tournament teams.....THANK YOU LORD!!!

Me.....I am back on target and really tracking all food intake. As always, water intake is good. As of today down 11lbs. I didn't have much time to walk last week but like I said earlier, this week should be much better on time and stress levels. I am also starting this week to do some mild weight training. Nothing drastic but some simple exercies that will tone. I know this will effect the scale weight but I think I need to do this and in the long run it will benefit me more now than waiting till later. I can tell the difference in my clothes and I wish I could use this and how I feel, more than the scale as progress, but for some reason I really need to see the scale move and when it doesn't I get very discouraged. I took measurements for the first time today so I can start using those as a measure of loss as well.

Persistance.....Persistance ......Persistance.

Well, guess thats all for right now.

Hope you had a great weekend!!

Starting Weight: 222.2 (1/3) Today's Weight: 206.7 Total Loss: 15.5

Everything is still on track. I did have a very small cheat yesterday and dipped my roast beef into A1 steak sauce, not too much. Won't happen again though because that is how I would end up failing... allowing myself a little here and a little there, then all the sudden I think I can justify an entire cheeseburger and large fry. That mentality is what got me so heavy, so I need to make sure I remember that a little here and there will start my derailment.

I promised myself I will also start my exercise plan tomorrow. I will be doing Beachbody Turbo Fire. I was going to start today but my husband is off from work today and using the tv in the living room, which is the only room that has enough space to follow an exercise video. It's a 20 week program so it should put me at finishing around the beginning of May. Thats about a month and a half before the Disney trip. Depending on where I am at with weight and how my body looks, I may start p90x. I will definitely get exercise at Disney. Walking around a huge theme park all day. I am really looking forward to starting Turbo Fire. Charleen Johnson is very energetic, motivating and her videos seem like fun. I was going to start with Brazil Butt Lift, but after rewatching the videos, I knew it would be hard for me to stay motivated because I didnt find the trainer very energetic or fun.

Day 13 Meal Plan

B: Atkins Shake

L: HUGE salad

D: Alice Springs Chicken

S: Peach Tea, crystal light

I've gotta get to the grocery store tonight because I need things for me as well as things for my daughters lunches for the week.

School is going great. I am caught up on current assignments and plan to spend this week working ahead in my computer, psychology and medical terminology classes. My computer teacher listed all the semesters assignments and the other two classes listed the next two weeks. Thats about it for me. I am posting some motivational pictures that I found online that really "spoke" to me. They seemed to help rev up my motivation to make this way of eating a permanent part of my life.

I am looking forward to shorts and tank tops at disney rather than my standard jeans and baggy t-shirts, running around all day with the kids, and not focusing on my body or how I feel about it this summer.

carolhardin thanks for reading my journal. i have been trying really hard to be as detailed as possible, not only for others but also for myself. when my weight loss starts to slow, i want to look back and see where I started to help me to stay motivated!

feelinggooder 199 is so close, i can taste it! i know i will make it before feb 1.

brawny i keep posting the pics so when i look back, i will remember how great the food was while losing my weight. Atkins is definitely the only diet I am able to commit to. I am glad you're liking the pics! definitely looking forward to 199!

Laticia School is going great. My daughter is asking about soccer and my son wants to get into baseball. Reading your posts has me dreading sports lol. Planning has definitely helped keep me on track. Having my meat thawed and ready to go definitely stops me from ordering out... Congrats on the 11 lb loss! Sounds like things are really coming together for the weddding... sounds exciting. Thats awesome your son has lost weight. I really feel for you with baseball season coming up, it sounds so hectic. Keep snacks and water on you at all times! As long as you keep you're eating on the right track, dont feel bad about missing a few days of exercise. Persistance is definitely a huge factor as well as committment!

Good morning! Today I will start my Turbo Fire program. I took measurements for my before, and also because exercise can sometimes make it look like your stalling/gaining. I will only count friday weigh ins from now on because my rest day will be on thursdays. I will probably still weigh everyday. So, here is everything from 1/3 until today...

Measurements
Neck -.5
Bicep -.5
Forearm -1.25
Chest -3.5
Waist -2
Hips -3
Calf -1
Wrist -.5
Total= 13.75 overall inches lost!

BMI
1/3: 38.1
1/17: 35.3
Total = 2.8 points down!

Weight
1/3: 222.2
1/17: 205.6
Total: 16.6 pounds gone!

Mini Goals

#1: 199 {6.6 pounds away!!}

#2: 179 {26.6 pounds away!!}

#3: 159 {46.6 pounds away!!}

#4: 146 {59.6 pounds away!!}

I feel like I am doing great. I am 59.6 pounds away from getting into the healthy BMI range. My ultimate goal is 125, but I am focusing on getting through my mini goals first. 59.6 is so close to 60 pounds, but something about it being in the 50's is so awesome! When I go to bed tonight, I will have successfully completed my 14 day induction period. I am so proud of myself. I will definitely continue on with induction until I get a little closer to my goal. Hopefully with exercise added in, I can keep my weight loss going at the same pace or at least keep shedding inches!

Had a great dinner last night. I decided to make Alice Springs Chicken, and it was yummy. Lots of onions and mushrooms, chicken breast, muenster cheese, and bacon with a side spinach salad.

The only issue I ran into was my hunger has been greatly reduced. The thought of eating is making my stomach turn. I am trying to keep my calories up, and hit my net carbs. Maintaining my goal weight will be almost impossible if my body gets used to very low calories and then I start introducing higher carb items back into my diet. I am making sure I eat every 6 hours, and shooting for higher calorie items and higher carb veggies.

Day 14 Meal Plan

B: Atkins Shake

L: Pizza Plate (mozzarella cheese, pizza toppings, and pizza sauce microwaved for about 2 minutes.)

D: Chicken & Snow Peas or Steak & Cheese Salad w/ mushrooms, onions, lettuce, and mayo.

On a personal note, things are moving along pretty well. House is still clean, school is still going great, and I am still managing to have quality time with the kids. My daughter laid in bed with me last night, she was laying at a weird angle and resting her cheek on my hip watching tv. She looked up and told me she couldnt get comfortable because the thing in my pocket was jabbing her. I didnt have anything in my pocket, and I asked her what she was talking about. She pointed to my hip bone! lol. I told her it was my hip bone and she said "Hmm... never felt it there before" and laid back down. lol. I started packing my weight back on when she was about 3.

Well, thats it from me. Hope everyone is doing well!

feelinggooder i thought they were very motivational. I have the one of the girl on my desktop (getting off your ass and working for it) and the others are set up as my screensaver. it will be the first thing i see when i boot up my computer, if i take a break for more than 10 minutes, and the last thing i see before bed when i shut the computer down! I dont want to be a muscled up female like the girls above, I will be happy with slim and soft. lol. still good motivation, though!

I like the hip bone story...isnt it funny all the tiny victories that occur? I bent over to get a dropped item and it was no real effort...before it would be unpleasant...now its nothing....we gotta savor those cool moments to keep us going!
