Righting the Ship Once Again!

So… I’m back yet again. I hope you’re all well. I’m alive, but can’t really say that I’m well. Things WERE going well and then… BAM! I found myself on the all too familiar slippery slope, but this time instead of fighting I gave in to temptation and didn’t just slide down the slope I rolled down it at warp speed. I won’t go into the specifics of what caused my downfall, but I’m trying, yet again to get back on track.

So… today started my journey to get back on track yet again. I’m starting at 219.8lb as of this morning. Ugh! How did I let THIS happen AGAIN!? Seriously………….

I ate well today. I did Taebo for the first time in months. I know tomorrow I’ll be too sore to do Taebo again because it’s been so long since I last did it. Instead of using the soreness as an excuse to get out of exercising tomorrow I already thought of another plan. I’ll be walking on the treadmill. The way I see it, even if I’m going really slow it’ll get me moving and I’ll burn some calories. Win win right?

I’m going back, or at least trying to go back, to my no / minimal processed food eating plan. I started today. For breakfast I had fried (in coconut oil) plantains and bacon for brunch. I made strawberry chicken in the crockpot (not as good as I’d hoped) with sautéed cauliflower for dinner. I was to busy to have lunch, but I’m feeling unusually satisfied. I have my meals all planned for the week and healthy snacks in the house. No chips. No chocolates. No ice cream. No cookies or cakes. I feel like I’m ready to do this again. We’ll see how it goes!

On a good note, I found out the last time I did this no processed food eating plan that I lost the first 10lb very quickly so I’m hoping the same will happen again. We’ll see.

Anyway, good to be back again. I seem to do better when I post here about my progress so I’ll stay in touch. :)

Hi Mandy & welcome back. I have been wondering how you have been going & it's nice to hear from you. You have a good plan by the sound of it. You can do it sweetie, xoxoC

Mark - Nice to meet you! You'll find a lot of great support here. I've found that I tend to stay on track better when I post here regularly which is why I've come back. Hoping to be here for the long haul this time. :)

Cate - Thanks for wondering about me. It's been a rough few months, but I feel like I'm ready to tackle this again. :)

~~

Well, I woke up this morning and was very, very sore. In fact saying I'm sore is an understatement. I knew I would be, but wow! I feel like I got hit by a mack truck. :( I didn't end up doing the treadmill thing this morning as I planned, but I have 2 (15) minute breaks at work so I'm hoping to walk up the road and back for both of those and if I'm feeling up to it I'll be walking my dogs tonight. In total it should be about an hour of walking which is good. Whatever I do or don't do today for walking I know I will be doing some serious stretching tonight. I'm hoping to feel better tomorrow, Wed at the latest to try Taebo again.

This morning's weigh in was 220.8lb. Ugh!

Keep on the walking thing, most people believe that they have to work out hard to get pounds off, but walking is good. I started walking a little before hand surgery, on the 16th of Sept. Now I think I lost about 10 lbs. Yesterday I walked 22 kilometers and it took me 2.5 hrs. Little over the time it takes to watch a movie. I made a plan that before I can relax for the evening, I have to do all my chores, and have a walk in. I do sleep better, and aim to lose about 9 more pounds. then start with weight training.... Lots of goals, that is where it starts.

good luck

Hi Mandy!!! I hope the stretching helps a ton, it sounds like your body needs it. I should do more of that, especially when I'm just laying around watching tv. Anyway, welcome back!

Just checking in. :) So far, so good! I haven’t gotten in my treadmill walking in the morning (too lazy to get out of bed), but have been making up for it by at least walking on my breaks at work and walking after work. Today will be the 4th day straight that I’ve exercised so I’m pretty happy about that considering how I have been.

Eating has been exceptionally well too. I have not cheated once even though I came very close last night. I fought off the craving. All in all, I’m heading in the right direction. I just need my mind to over rule my cravings and my laziness. I’m getting there. Once the scale starts moving in the right direction I seem to pick up my intensity. That’s how it’s been in the past anyway.

A couple of side notes, I tried a delicious new soup recipe this week and wanted to share. I’m not a big soup person, but boy I could pound this down. It’s made of chicken, butternut squash, and kale. It doesn’t sound like much, but it’s so tasty! Here’s the recipe… http://deliciouslyorganic.net/chicken-stew-butternut-squash-kale-gaps-paleo-grain-free/

The other thing is that my parents decided to adopt a puppy. I helped them over the weekend to submit an adoption application and we found out last night that they were approved. He’s 4 months old and is a boxer mix. The rescue is calling him Davis, not sure if my parents will be changing it or not. He’s so adorable! We go to meet him Friday and if all goes well, he comes home. :)

That’s about it for now. This morning’s weigh in was 218.2lb.

Well done Mandy on 4 good days & resisting cravings. The boxer looks so cute & that soup looks delicious!

Welcome back Mandy! I was wondering how you were doing as well. Glad to see you back on the forums! I think yours is my favourite diary to read.
Love hearing about the whale watching and such

What a cute little puppy! You gotta pat yourself on the back for even the small victories, so great job avoiding that craving!

Thanks everyone, it's good to be back. For some reason I really do better when I post regularly here. I guess your support is that just helpful for me. :)

Katie, unfortunately whale watching is about done for the year. Hoping to get one more trip in, but if the weather cooperates we could get two or three in. The weather at this time of year is just so iffy you never know. We had a fantastic season though, especially the last few weeks. Lots of new calves this year and they've been very curious and playful. So much fun to watch.

Unfortunately my eating didn't go well this weekend. I was 217.8lb at my lowest during the week, but this morning I weighed in at 220.2lb. I know it's not a "fat" gain, rather a food weight and/or water retention gain. By mid/late week I should be back on track, but then the weekend will be here again. I struggle on weekends. It's been a vicious cycle for some time now. Do great during the week, crash on the weekend, level out by mid week only to crash again on the weekend. The good thing about whale watching coming to end is that it'll be easier to get that side of things under control.

So, the meeting with the rescue went great Friday and we brought the puppy home. He is the sweetest little thing. He's still unsure of some things, but is coming around a bit more and more as time goes on. He's just now starting to play with toys a bit and with my other two dogs. It's such a joy and really rewarding to watch a rescued pup come out of his shell. My father changed his name from Davis to Dixon kind of as a way to honor our old dog's memory. We lost Mason in August of last year to heart failure and it tore my dad up. It took him this long to decide he was ready for another, but I can see he's still feeling a lot of hurt for Mason. He misses his boy so much. I'm hoping Dixon will help to fill some of that void. He chose Dixon as a name after the Mason Dixon Line. I thought it was kind of cute. :) I'll attach some below.
