yeah im with Kara and Korrie.

How about put in a little hard work and show some self discipline.......

thats all it takes.......:leaving:

I agree.

I have tried the Rice Diet. You do lose weight quickly. But it is not healthy weight loss or a lifestyle change. I found I couldn't sustain it long term. At most a few days. I love meat and am not a fan of rice. I also like a little salt. My salt intake doesn't seem to slow my weight loss. I don't know though. Maybe if I cut out salt I would lose even faster. :biggrinjester:

I have found counting calories and fat grams is the best solution for me. Combined with exercise you can't go wrong. I look for low fat recipes or my own that I can modify to make them healthier. I do have cravings. I give into them somewhat. If I do I don't binge. We all have favorites and sometimes they are not the best options. If I eat them in moderation I won't binge with something that doesn't satisfy my craving. :auto:

I am starting the RICE DIET today. I weighed in this morning and I was 201. My ideal weight is around 140....haven't been there in ab 12 years, so I am not sure. I am very eager to hear all your stories and learn more about this diet.

There hasn't been any success stories with this diet. This is not a lifestyle change. Its a very restrictive diet and everyone I know went off of it within a couple of weeks. I'd like to suggest you aim for a "lifestyle change" not a diet. You can read the stickies around the forum, its a great place to start!

I agree with Korrie, Kara and the rest. Consider it a bad idea. Read up on nutrition and exercise. Come up with a sensible calorie level and make your nutrition as healthy as possible. You can monitor the levels of nutrients in your food using a free account from . Set targets for protein, fibre, fats, carbs, sodium, calcium. You will lose weight quickly and be better nourished than ever. You will find that eating in this manner is also satisfying and sustainable.

I lost my weight with this approach - losing the first 147 pounds in 14 months. I have been eating in this manner for 33 months now and have no wish to alter my eating habits (although I have raised my calories a little and reduced my exercise a little too). Maintenance is easy. You do not get those results with fad diets such as the rice diet.

Thanks for tips

Thanks for the advice. I am clearly not following the RICE DIET....today I weighed 199.2 (started at 201) And although I don't mind using the rice diet as a giude, I will need flexibility. Yesterday I had starches (rice) and fruit, but did throw in some salad (it was already prepared in my fridge and going to go bad) that had olive oil and SALT. Also had pickles.

Today I had oatmeal milk and fruit for breakf and because I was in a rush had a cheese and veggie sandwich for lunch. Now I am thinking about dinner...I do like beans so I will do something with that. The good thing is I don't mind eating simple food, so I don't need to spend a lot of time creating interesting dishes.

I am waiting for my BODY MAGIC suit fr ARDYSS. The company has garment that help shape the body support the back and spine and compress fat...my cousin has been wearing one for a few weeks and loves it.

Tomorrow my walking partner comes back to town so I will be back on my walking/running program.

Hello:)..I started the rice diet today!...after onely one day I have no cravings but I find that I miss salt...rice just isn't the same but I'm intelligent enough to understand that my taste buds will get use to it...now if I could only get my six year old to stop eating so much process (salt content is too high for kids) food...I'd be happy!...

If your so intelligent then you should know that the rice diet is nothing more than one of those fad diets that dont work. You need to focus on a lifestyle change, not a fad diet.

Really 6yr olds can be intimidating, but they will eat what you give them. I have 3 picky eaters and I gave in to them until they were about 4, then I cracked down. Now they eat what I give them whether they like it or not, even the 7yr old. You are the parent if you know what is good for them you have to be firm. This is their health, don't let them bully you with crying and temper tantrums and whining or whatever they do. You have the power not them.

I know I'm new here but I've fought my weight before. This is not the wisest thing to eat. One thing I learned is any thing that is the 'one type of food' diet is not a good way to go. It should never be central around one food. Balance is everything. You need fats, you need protein, you need sugars, you need carbs, you need fiber, you need fruits, you need veggies. It all comes down to balancing it.

Alway think this..will you be eating like this in 5 years? If not then it is a diet, not a true lifestyle change.

Can I ask a question about the rice diet, if you have puffed rice or puffed wheat for breakfast which is 2 starches do you have it with milk or on its own (dry)?

Thanks

To be quite honest, this "diet" horrifies me.

I haven't read the entire thread but...

A protein DAY? like in ONCE a week? A protein DAY??? Really?! That is just shocking...

Stop with these extreme diets and whatnot and focus on HEALTHY eating, which will have a lifelong effect and won't starve you from a myriad of essential nutrients you are simply not ingesting at the moment.

Anyone following this diet is clearly misinformed and on a very bad path. I would encourage you to research a bit better and stop looking at only the scales as a measure of your weight loss.

Trust me, you are setting yourself up for ONE thing and ONE thing only: a fierce Yo-Yo effect, even more pounds of fat gained and a boatload of other health problems.

No doctor in their right mind would ever suggest anything like this 'diet'. It's nonsense, unhealthy, and will generate no long-term results.

I think this diet sounds pretty healthy, full of fruit carbs starch and fibre. Probably a bit low on protien. I'm going to try it just for a kick start even if it lose just a couple of pounds because my weight loss has been really slow and i'm trying hard.
