After day 3 and lost 7.48 pounds - a very easy diet to follow.

I am a firm believer that no matter which diet you choose to go with, if you are dedicated to loose weight (especially with exercise) you will, loose weight. Some people, perhaps like myself, use these types of diets to 'kick start' their weight loss until they can move into plain healthy eating. Others are happy to make the lifestyle change and keep with the program.

Good luck to everyone,

Flower

If you are only kick starting a diet then over half that weight loss will just be water. Thats what happens when you start. So dont feel bad if your weight suddenly increases quite a bit.

The Rice Way

Hi Emily,

I found a really good website which lists all of the foods, quantities etc which you are allowed on the diet. Lookup "The Rice Way" it is a forum for people on the diet and has some really helpful people there to help you start.

Good luck.

Hello,

Well I have just survived week one and lost a total of 11 pounds so I am pretty happy. It is a very easy diet to follow - didn't have any cravings and didn't do any exercising. It is a diet which you could easily stay on for a long period of time or until you neared your goal weight.

Good luck to all those choosing the Rice Diet.

Well, reading all this stuff about the rice diet made me decide to try it. I'm hoping it will kick start me in my weight loss mission. I started the diet yesterday and lost 2.5 pounds!! WHOO HOO! So far so good. This diet is rather boring but hopefully I can stick it out. Good luck to all trying it.

Rice Diet Is Wonderful

I do love the Rice Diet. It's the only diet I've tried that is very encouraging early on during a diet. I know you all will have great success with it. Best of luck.

hello everyone :) I am down to 280.5 from like 282 last week, and thats without following it strictly, i even cheated by having cheesecake :) lol
Well, i hope to get more people on this :)

Hi Emily. First time on the rice diet was in 1986. That was with the old rice diet using Judy Moscovitz's book, which I still have and use. I don't know how much I've lost and regained over the years. Plenty...that's for sure. I still use the old rice diet because I lose 6-7 lbs per week when on it, not counting the first two weeks. The first two weeks tend to be mostly water, and I usually lose 20-24 lbs during those weeks.

This should help you Emily:
1 Starch = 1/3 cup rice or beans, or 1/2 cup of all other cooked grains or pasta, or 1 slice of bread, or 1/4 cup to 1 cup of cereal.

1 Dairy = 1 cup of nonfat soy milk, nonfat cow's milk or fat-free yogurt.

1 Vegetable - 1 cup of raw, or 1/2 cup of cooked vegetables.

1 Fruit = 1 medium piece of fruit or 1 cup of cut fruit

1 Protein = 1 oz fish or skinless poultry,* or 1 egg or 3 egg whites

Because you have to follow the diet strictly ... cheesecake is not on the diet. Be sure not to add any salt to your diet also. That makes a difference.

Hey guys glad to see this thread has stayed alive. when red started it all we had was the artical from the mag. now as a birthday gift i have recived the rice diet solution book. And I love it . There are so many helpful things in it and a ton of recipies I agree that this can be BORRING but spice it up with herbs and spices just NO SALT i have found that if you miss the saltyness then try lemon or use sun dried tomatoes on your pasta and rice its great just get the ones with no oil . So after a terrible summer I am back on track with this and doing well starting again at 335 i am now at 323 after 5 days so i will come on and post some recipies and my results on regular basis!!!!
Enjoy and rice on!!!!!!!!!!

16.28 pounds in 17 days

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to post how I was finding this diet. To date I have lost 16.28 pounds in 17 days. I have not had any cravings what soever and haven't had any problems. Not only did the pounds come off but substancial inches also came off.

Once you have gotten through your initial week and are used to what you can and cannot eat you can vary your menus quite alot. I received the book a week after starting and it has some great information including menus in it.

Like I have said before, it may not be everyone's 'cup of tea' and bland but once you find something that is good for you and you commit yourself to it, it will work.

Good luck to everyone,

Cheers, Flower
