Coffee Addict
Okay, so i was one of the originals many years back and lost a ton of weight. I learnt a heap about weight loss, and in my own country i even became a minor celeb with appearances on prime time TV, breakfast show, and 2 page spreads in magazines.
I lost the weight so i could donate a kidney to my brother, there were times we thought that it wasn't going to happen, but we got there in the end.
At the time of the surgery a 18 months ago i was super fit and healthy, and it went sucessfully. I thought perhaps because i was super fit and healthy i would recover better, alas i was wrong.
At the time my sport of choice was jogging, because the winter was long and cold and my usual sport of choice (cycling) did not appeal much. After surgery I was fine to walk, but for months jogging really irritated me when my tummy jiggled up and down.
I had a lot of niggly pains, and trouble being able to eat meals larger than a table spoon. Swelling inside was the major cause of being unable to eat much, and i lost even more weight.
eventually when things became better, i continued walking and entered a 100km walk for charity. During training i managed to hurt my knee which landed me resting for several months. That knee has never quiet got better and i can't walk more than 1km without problems, but i was fine to cycle.
So i tried to get back into cycling and was training for a 160km ride, and i re-injured my knee doing weights.
So now i've been really unable to do exercise for over a year, through depression and poor choices i.ve regained a lot of weight in a short time. The knee needs total rest, no stairs, no running, no walking even if it can be helped.
Being somewhat well known for being so awesome at weight loss, and then being overweight again, is a little embarassing. I think the extra weight im carrying is really not helping the knee, so its my goal right now to loose as much as i can, as fast as i can, as safely as possible whilst healing the knee.
Because i know ill be largely inactive leg wise, ill be doing other exercises that do not involve the knee (upper body weights, stretching, laying down leg raises etc).
The diet is basically 6 or 7 meals a day, around 250 calories each, with a larger one towards night, this is to keep the metabolism raised.
Foods I'm eating are all low/no fat, mostly protein based (ie meat, dairy etc) and vegetables. I am avoiding all processed foods, all flours, rice, pasta, etc. Pretty much meat and vegetables.
I have a 1.5 litre bottle which I am drinking at least 2 of a day, plus a single coffee, and a couple cups of tea.
I find im rarely 'full' but im also never really hungry either. I have always struggled with sleeping on an empty stomach so my larger meal is before bed (much to everyones disgust im sure lol).
So far, i've been doing this a week now, and lost about 3kg, though i expect thats mostly 'start of diet' loss more than fat loss yet.
For those that don't know me, My name is Liz, i am a mother of 4 kids (one has left home) and my current goal is to join my children next year doing cheerleading in an adults team!
I have a lot to work towards, and i really want to get back into wearing my old clothes!
