Resting...?

When i workout one particular muscle group one day, is the 2 days resting period a minimum or maximum one should be resting, because i heard several times that it's sufficient to workout each muscle group only once a week...
I ask that because I have a program based on 3 muscle groups, allowing each group 2 days rest after workout, and one day a week off...

Thank you

Both.

If you're lifting right, it'll raise the metabolism for up to two days/48 hours. This is also the time after which the body starts to detrain.

I'd recommend stepping away from body part splits and looking into either an upper/lower, push/pull or full-body. These will provide a frequency that will accomodate your needs.

agree with cynic. it kinda sounds like you haven't been weight training for too long, so you probably won't get as good of a return on your current split, vs. fullbody's or an upper/lower split.

even long time trainees can benefit from changing to the above.

When it comes to working out ONE particular muscle group.....you probably won't have much success with training without adequate rest.

However, if you work out like an athlete.....training ranges of motions...(pull day, push day, hip dominant day etc.) You can work out everyday without detraining. Look into it.
