RedX's weight loss journey!

Gratz on the 2lbs - a loss is a loss and it'll come down to under 300lbs soon! Keep it up :)

Another check in. Of course i been sticking to my diet and exercise. I have been doing some weight training every other day for about 20 minutes. Probally need to up the amount of time? Still doing about 45-50 minutes of cardio every other day, 25-30 on weight training day. Still hope to continue to lose weight. Over a month with not one soda!!

Another thing I have question on is counting calories. I never counted calories, I just ate more healthy and cut back on how much I ate.

I started today to track my calories. I am using the Lose it app on my Droid. It says my calorie intake for the day should be 2,500. According to my log for the day, I have ate around 1300 calories today and dinner is over! I worked out and burned 575 calories. According to this app, it says I am 1,900 under my budget for today.

This just sounds like way to little of an amount. Is that too little that I ate and effect my weight loss?? Just would like some more info and help on this to continue my weight loss!!

If my calories are too low, what can i do to improve them? I am eating healthy, eating snacks every 2 hours. I am not at a point where I get too hungry. I feel like if i eat more than I am now, that I will be eating too much and gain weight.

Just busted ass @ the gym. Did 45 minutes non stop on the elliptical at a good moderate/fast pace. Cant believe how much I sweated! lol

Did my 6 week weigh in and loss of nothing! I guess i finally hit the plateau and just didnt lose anything. Im still eating healthy and working out every day. Still not sure how my calorie intake is, if its fine or if i should up the amount? Still staying positive and do realize that I can have harder time loosing weight now. Going to stick with my diet/workouts and keep going! Not giving up!!!!!!

Best to look at your Basel rate (how many calories per day you need to maintain given your level of activity/job and current weight) then calculate what kind of deficit you need to loose a healthy amount per week/month - for example, for me (200lb woman with a moderately active lifestyle) I need around 2500 cals per day to maintain, so a deficit of 1000 cals, i.e. 1500 per day, should lose 2lbs or so a week. Any exercise in addition just adds to that in my book. I think it is inadvisable to go below a certain deficit as your metabolism could react in a different way, but I'm by no means very knowledgeable about it at all - just thinking slow and steady rather than starvation!

This weekend I didnt get to work out :) I was at my brothers all weekend so no gym near by. He lives in a town of 300 so its dead there! lol I didnt want to run or walk outside because its been 100+ for 10 days straight now. I still ate healthy and will be back at the gym tomorrow! Weighed my self and didnt gain any weight over the weekend!! :hurray:

Week 7 weigh in...and lost 2 more pounds! Glad to have a loss after nothing last week. I changed up my exercise this week so I think that has some help in the loss. Going to start doing the Arc Trainer which should throw it off even more to lose weight! Total loss in 7 weeks is now 28 pounds!

Havent updated this in a 2 weeks. Lost 2 pounds last week for a total of 31 pounds! At 308 now and cant wait til Im under 300. Super proud of myself of what Ive done in a little over 2 months. Eating healthy and working out every day, still havent touched soda at all!! And no fast food...and i dont miss it. I workout 6 days a week still for 45-55 minutes. I have been changing what I am doing. I'll do elliptical and arc one day, then treadmil and elliptical another day. Then I'll do all 3 in one day. I have up'd the resistance on arc and elliptical, also have started doing more of an incline on elliptical. And I do weight training for about 20-30 minutes every other day.

Hi, RedX, man, you are doing such an awesome job! You have such wonderful motivation! It's so great to hear your story! Keep it up and you'll get to your goal weight in no time!

Thanks Kimmy

Weekly update...lost 4 more pounds!!! Total of 35 pounds and 5 pounds from being under 300!!

Been noticing my clothes fit alot different. Went to store to try and see what size pants i wear now. Went from 46/44 to a 40!! And my shirts that i wore before are way too big. And my shirts that I wouldnt wear out in the public because they are too tight are now fitting great and I wear them now!

So exciting to see the difference! And my wife always thinks I am sucking in my gut because it has got alot smaller!!

AYea it's great had people yesterday that I haven't seen in a while saying I look skinnier

haha, what brilliant news, Red! See, that's living proof that sometimes it's not all about the number on the scale! Being able to fit itno clothes that are smaller is at least a physical reward for all the sweat and tears you've put into losing weight so far!

Really great job, keep at it and I'm sure you'll be below the 300s very soon!

Two little things that made my week. Guy i work with looks at me and says "damn you have lost alot of weight" :coolgleama: And I ran 3 minutes straight at 5.0 mph. Normally I only do it for 1 minute but this time I went more. But i do a 5.5 on the elliptical no problem for 20 minutes, but of course thats easier on you lol

Hi Redx nice work!!

Your weight loss and positive life style changes are very encouraging. You'll be down in the 200s before you know it!!

You asked a couple of time about calorie counting. I'm still learning things, but a lot of people here use the app and website: my fitness pal. It can help you set a goal for calorie intake and exercise amount. It helps you see if you are in a calorie deficit each day to help you lose the weight. I am trying to use it myself, but I'm not very good at tracking my food yet. For me it is more life style changes (like the ones you have already started making) and then later on I hope to get better with calories and such.

Best of luck and look forward to more updates!

Thanks. I dont count calories anymore. I did for a few weeks but didnt seem to make a difference. I just make sure to monitor how much I eat, and what I eat. Eating healthy and in moderation seems to be doing good for me.
