Recovery

I read a quote the other day that I felt was sort of profound. "There is no such thing as over training, only under recovery." I tend to workout five days straight and do other things on the weekend. What kind of break do most people take? I see a lot of two days on one day off routines, but it's hard for me to stay away from the gym. Any thoughts?
 
All you are doing in the gym is traumatizing your muscles which is a small portion in the process to seeing progress. The real progress takes place based on what you do outside of the gym such as diet, rest , etc....

Rest and recovery time is so important. This is the time your nourishing your muscles with the proper nutrients and allowing them to repair/rebuild.

I like a setup like this.....
