I have to be honest: I'm not all that educated when it comes to nutrition. I just found myself lowering my carb intake and not really cutting back too much on my calories, and this really helped me. I have to lower my sugar and carb amounts because I gain weight very easily if I eat even a moderate amount of these. Sorry, Chillen, but I"m afraid I'm not the right person to speak with about 'macros'. :) I just found a system that works for me and I"ve run with it.

BTW...I currently weigh around 125 lbs...I don't mind mentioning my weight.

Wow, You look absolutely fantastic! Seeing your photos have helped me aspire to reach my own personal goals even more now. Well done :)

Among your carbohydrate restriction there is also a calorie/energy deficiency. Keep an eye on your hydration and water retention.

I understand, and there are a lot of people that may fall into this category (without getting too nosy). Dependent on whether a person is Insulin sensitive/Insulin Resistant (or its variable), the amount of carbohydrate consumed can make an impact for the better or worse on fat loss.

For example, I have good Insulin Sensitivity, and good insulin secretion (or about what I need, approximately). When I diet (BF high), Carbohydrates do not bother/hinder fat loss, my energy is stable, and tends not to crash (about an hour or so later, approximately); cut calories, and fat loss occurs. When BF is low, and dieting for a while, this sort of changes a bit, as an example.

However, be sure to keep your protein UP, especially if you are calorie deficient. If you are carbohydrate restricting, carry most of your remaining calories to Protein, and the remaining to good sources of Fats, and I would suggest taking some good quality fish oils.

Have you actually set yourself down and actually figured out your BMR, and calories approximately required with activities included? Do you know how to approximate your grams of macros within your allotted calories?

The above (IMO) is important to know. I gather from your post you haven't completed an approximation of calories and macros, and would love to show you how to do this.

I don't want you to think I am intruding.

I am just trying to help. If you want I will show you how to do this in the next post, dependent on your answer.

Best wishes and much fitness success to you.

And to you Texas lady- have you considered any performance goals? ie: a running event, a fifgure competition, or something?

Many times a competition of some sort can really help us go to th enext level, or even carry on when it get boring.

I'm thinking about running a marathon soon, which is something I"ve never done, so that's a goal for me. But really, i just wanted to be able to wear cute and flirty summer clothes without worrying about a 'muffin top' or anything. I just got my bellybutton pierced before I took those pics, so that was one benchmark for me. Now I have to show it off as much as I can :)

Tell me what you want, and I will deliver. Just ask the questions, and I will try to answer them.

For the basis of comparison, I found a 'before' picture that was taken this past Halloween. I know, I know...I probably should have picked a more flattering outfit, but this pic was taken right before I got serious about training and toning up.

Before (Halloween '08, I'm on the left)

After (June '09)

As you can see from the pics, I am susceptible to carrying extra weight in my stomach if I'm not careful. When the Halloween pic was taken, I didn't have any abs routine. I knew that I was in pretty good shape, but you can see the formation of a pot belly, and my obliques look a bit wider too. I didn't realize this until after someone pointed it out, and then it made me self-conscious. In the 'after' pic, you can see a noticably flatter stomach and, in my opinion, the tied-up shirt looks more flattering than in the other pic. Since I work out my abs every other day now, and perform rigorous cardio workouts, I'm no longer self-conscious about showing my stomach. In fact, whenever I wear a button-down shirt, I always tie it up at least an inch or two above my navel to proudly show off my abs and my belly piercing (unless I go someplace where I need to dress more conservatively). It feels good when people see me out with my daughters and think that i'm their older sister!

I'll take them down if I need to. Didn't mean to 'rock the boat' or anything. Just let me know.

He wasn't telling you to take them down, he was saying that they had already been removed...or he couldn't see them....You can post pics here. :)

However some people post before and after pics in their journals too, and as they progress, they post updates.

A sweet and sassy sothern bell here. Sexy hun. What part of Texas ;)
