Rebel's Diary

Black bean burgers sound good. What do you put in them? Hope today will be better.
Im sure it will be. After doing a weeks worth of school stuff i was spent.

The burgers i mix black beans with onion roasted red pepper garlic bread crumbs and an egg just to hold it all together. I normally top it with a "curry" sour cream.
Sour cream lemon juice curry powder garum masala a lil cumin if im feeling frisky....

Yesterday was decent enough. Had some eggs potatos and bacon for breakfast.
No lunch then went to a fish fry for dinner.. Calories were either under or over....

What´s a fish fry?
Its party-esk....
People will bring fish and potatoes and have a cookout of sorts. I brought about 15 pounds of red drum and about 10 pounds of red snapper. It was coated with a flour and cornmeal mixture and deep fried. Some people brought potatoes and fried them like you would french fries or "chips." People brought side dishes and made some tartar and cocktail sauce. With the leftover flor and cornmeal someone made a big batch of hushpuppies.
Not sure if you have those there....
You make a thick batter thats kinda dumpling like. Its normally has some tiny bits of onion in it then its deep fried. Little balls of goodness.

Sounds like a gloriously savory version of gebackene Mäuse. Maybe I can convince my mom to give them a go when I come home next  Possibly sprinkle them with shredded cheese instead of powdered sugar. I assume using some beer in the batter makes them better? O dear. Not going to experiment with deep-frying anything in my own apartment as I wish to remain firmly convinced it´s impossible to do :p

Get a deep fry contraption...holds temp and saves a call to the fire department ;)
Nopenopenopenope it is impossible - IMpossible I tell ya! - to deepfry anything within these four walls :p My mom´s a magician with a deep-fryer and self-control though :) I don´t know how she doesn´t deep fry breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plus snacks.
I think the batter would be similar to what I know but we use yeast. Because a) yeasty goodness and b) baking powder always gives a slightly dry result. But I guess the smaller size would make that less of a problem. We use large tablespoons full of batter per portion. I may or may not be drooling at the thought of savorizing fried mice.

Mmm, sushi... If my favorite Japanese restaurant weren´t closed today I´d be having sushi for lunch. Also: you had three meals! And they actually look like (small) meals!

Yea they were kinda small. Today was more eating because I'm supposed too; rather than being hungry.

Breakfast at 4pm.....gonna be one of those really low calorie or eating crazy late days...
