Ready for Change

You got a job offer? Do tell...

Yes I did get a job offer! I'm going to be a nanny for two adorable children for the summer. The parents are both doctors so I am going to be making pretty good money for minimal hours. Plus I'm going to be living at home, so that will save on a lot of expenses. It also means less trips to bars and less late night fast food runs, so yay!

New job eh...
Related to your degree?
Sweet regardless.:)

It is indirectly related to my degree, yes, but not what I want to do with my life. I have an Early Childhood Education (Pre-K to 3rd grade) degree and I want to teach in an elementary school. But at least being a nanny is a step in the right direction... and not food service. Plus the family I am working for eat SUPER healthy, so at least I won't have a lot of junk food at my disposal. And there is always the whole having to chase two very lively rugrats around all day. That makes for a fairly decent workout.

My wife has a degree in Early Childhood Education:)
Move to Chicago/Illinois- lots of Preschool needs here. The governor in his infinite wisdom is turing Illinois into a Socialist state and giving free preschool throughout.
Great opportunities here.:D

Only piece of advise I can offer is stay away from the Feds 'Head Start' program for preschool. Pain in the ass!

I've applied to Chicago Public. I'm not too particular about geographic location of where I end up... but Chicago isn't too far from where I am now. Only like 5 or 6 hours. I just want a job at this point.

What are you doing the week after Memorial day?
There is a CPS job fair at Navy Pier. Totally worth it if you can get here.

Let em know if I can help you in any way..although my wife is leaving her school after this year and you 2 will be in direct competition for a job in CPS....

Yeah, I got an email about that job fair. I might try to head out that way. Problem is I may not be able to financially, being that I am a poor very recent college graduate. So we'll see if I can head that direction.

Wish your wife luck! I don't think I'm much competition. Your wife has experience. I'm a newbie! What grade level does/did your wife teach?

Seriously- if you can swing it somehow it is worth it. Where are you at in Ohio?

She is teaching the Head Start preschool i mentioned earlier. She taught Kindergarten last year and then a mix of preschool to third the other 7 or so years.
She is going for her ESL certification right now- huge issue when she gets it- and is going to take the bilingual test this year. Masters program right now also.
*sigh*
She is soooo much smarter and more movtivated then me.:D

Well... right now I'm in Bowling Green (Toledo area) because that is where I was going to school... but I'm moving back home which is in the Dayton area.

I wish I had the language skills to do ESL. I want to get my masters eventually to be an elementary school guidance counselor. I also would like to get my reading certification as well.

I know the town fairly well- spent a ittle over a month there a few years ago.

ESL is all about learing language skills- it is a huge asset for a teacher these days..

My mother has her masters in reading and is a certified reading specialist!:D
You are on the right path with good ideas- you just need to get a job.
It may drag out a bit. Remember that. Many school systems do not even know who is coming back yet and will not even post jobs until July.

Yeah, I'm aware of the whole dragging out the hiring process thing. I'm ok with that, just so long as I can hopefully find something full time for the school year. I'd rather not have to sub for the year, but if thats what I have to do, so be it.

Not gonna lie... I wanted to throw in the towel and give up yesterday. But I didn't. So I still ate real well and did my workout as planned.

It was my last day of work at Panera so no more bread temptations.

The boyfriend and I went "ring browsing" yesterday. :D They were all so pretty and he was soo excited about looking. It was a romantic way to spend the afternoon.

Today I'm being a bum. Haven't eaten much at all yet and its almost 3. I'm just not hungry. But i'll get my calories in somehow. Today is my "day off" of working out, but I'm sure I'll at least go for a walk or something eventually.

Scale had a new low number for me today... not even going to say it for fear that it will vanish for a bigger one. But it made me feel good.

212.5... ladies and gentleman, I have not seen a number that low in over 3 years. Made me feel good, even if it goes back up this week, I'm just glad to know that those kind of numbers still exist.

My goal for May is to lose 10 pounds, which I've exceeded now, but MWLC wise I've only lost 8, but thats cool.

My new goal is to be in ONEderland by the 4th of July... that is gonna be tough, but I'm gonna try my best. It'll be a sort of birthday present for the boyfriend since his birthday is July 3. But it'll also be a half birthday present for myself (bday is Jan. 4). It would feel so good to see a weight that starts with a 1 again. Sigh... someday.

OMG! I went shopping with my roommate this evening and I was trying on clothes. I tried on my normal pant size of 18 and it didn't fit. I tried a 16 and OMG it fit!!!

I have not fit in a size 16 since my senior year of high school. I was THRILLED!! I of course bought them immediately... lol. Losing weight could be dangerous for my bank account.

Anyways... Back to moving!

You aren't kidding. I am going to need all new clothes when I am done. I really thought that I would be fine.
Wrong!.
Great job Jessie- 212.5 is great! You know what- 200 exists too:D

So I totally gave in and had a milkshake today...

BUT! Before you reprimand me... I walked the mile to DQ and then walked the mile back. And I only got a small vanilla shake. I still didn't really even go over my calorie count. And it tasted soooo good.

Tomorrow is moving day! That means lots of going up and down the stairs with heavy bags and boxes! Thanks to my living on the second story of my building, I get to have a good workout tomorrow!

I'm sad to leave the boy :( but I'm sure we'll visit a lot. I'm gonna miss having him 5 minutes away.

I'm in such a bad mood. New location means new scale. New scale has a number 4 pounds heavier than the last scale. NOT COOL!

Now I have no way of knowing whether i've actually gained or lost recently. UGH! I'm totally having a day where I want to just throw it all out the window.

In fact I may...

I'm so pissed right now. I'll write when I'm less pissed... that may be months from now.

Don't throw it all away based on a dumbscale...
All a scale measures is a number. It does not matter what the number starts at.
Give this week a rest from weighing and reweigh on Monday.
Use that as your new start wieght.
This is ok- who cares if your new scale says you are 4 lbs heavier? You did not actually gain 4 lbs and you do not look 4 lbs heavier.
Relax and start new next week.....
It will be ok
