Rah's Diary started May 07

Hi Sarah,

I thought that I would pop by to wish you a merry Christmas.:party:

I can well understand you being disappointed with maintaining - but honestly - maintaining is a major success at this time of year. :hurray: My weight today is exactly the same (to the tenth of a pound) as it was 8 days ago. I strongly suspect that very very few people are actually losing anything at the moment.

It is excellent news about your belt. It demonstrates the achievements that you have made thus far. You are seeing real results for your hard work.

I think that quite a lot of people take measurements every couple of weeks. I know that Amber posted in her diary some time ago the measurements that her dietician takes - and I tend to follow that list. Sometimes you see no result on the scales but there are changes taking place just the same. you have to remember that muscle is heavier than fat so you can lose fat and build muscle and get no weight loss (or even a gain) and be making positive progress just the same. I appreciate that as a nurse you know all this - but it can be easy not to apply even basic stuff like this for yourself if you have tunnel vision regarding the scales.

Hope everyone had a good christmas

Xmas eve
I had a few friends round for a get together so i had 2 glasses of wine and avoided all the food i put on LOL then i swapped to diet coke everyone thought it was vodka and diet coke so didnt try to encourage me to carry on drinking so i didnt correct them LOL

Xmas day
We went to my parents for breakfast i didnt eat much and grilled my bacon and had scrambled egg instread of fried ate 1.5 sausage (very thin ones) and beans
Then xmas dinner
Turkey, lamb, sprouts, carrot and swede mash, brocolli, peas, 2 small roast potatos gravy, Xmas pudding with custard
I know i ate WAY too much but i enjoyed every mouthful of it so i will just have to work extra hard and make sure i get the gym over the next few weeks to loose anything i have gained (which i think is going to be several lbs!!)

Boxing day (what i am cooking now)
I didnt have any breakfast for lunch but we did have dinner at 4pm

I think I started measurements a while ago I will have a look for them they are saved on the computer somewhere,

Well hubby and I brought a Wii as a joint present and its so much fun jumping round the livingroom playing on the various games Mario Olymics is my fave so far but my word do my arms hurt today!!!! I think you get so involved with it and become so competitive you put everything you have into it but hay i will have very toned arms in a month or so (i really cant move my right arm much at alll today!)

We walked the dog for a short walk this morning and will be taking him out for the 1.7mile walk this evening

Well im off to start cooking boxing day dinner

I got my son a Wii for his birthday earlier this year and, boy, does the boxing get you going! I'm studying part-time at the moment and, in between sessions, I wind down a bit with 10 minutes of Wii - it's great! Not sure that it burns up many calories, but it's better than sitting on my backside for 2 hours non-stop. Enjoy Mario!

WOW i swear you were just listening to the conversation me and hubby just had!! And i am totally with you sitting doing nothing = 0 cals but jumping round like a mad woman and the boxing and running MUST burn something! and i have been on it hours over the last 2 days!!!!
Dont think it has burnt off all the chocs i have eaten but its a start LOL

I took them in Sept 07 when i decided to get real about my weight loss
So heres the difference (in Inches)

Neck -0.25"
Shoulders -2.5"
Bust -3" (OH NO!!!!)
Under bust -1.25"
Waist -0.5" (disappointed this is my biggest part)
Hips -0.5"
Bicep L/R -0.25"/ -0.25"
Calf L/R -0.5"/-0.5"
Thigh L/R -0.25"/-0.25"

Hi

Well i think i am back on track with all that was gained over xmas (OOOPS)
but im working on the pholsophy its what happens between new year and christmas that counts.
So with that in mind i have set a new target to loose 14lb from Jan 2nd to 13th Feb thats 6 weeks away its going to be tough i know but i am really determind to so this and i have no excuse its 2.3lb a week.
I will be signing up for the biggest looser challenge so that will also help with the motivation Honestly i just need to get into the routine of going the gym 3 times a week its not hard im just lazy about going but new year and all that

I know how you feel, sometimes it seems so pointless to go over to the gym. Especially on days when you're overeating so you're figuring "oh it'll take me a whole hour to burn off the chocolate I'm scarfing down right now so its really not worth it anyway". I guess the point with exercise is more the long term extra calories that add up over time and are so meaningful in the end. Like if you go to the gym 3 times per week you're burning I should think a minimum of 3500 calories a month, if not much more than that. That's 12 pounds of fat in one year even if the eating stays the same. Certainly a good habit to get into for when you'll be maintaining your weight loss. OK, and now I must take my own advice :rolleyes:!

Well done for digging out the measurements and for getting back on track.

Good luck in losing 14 pounds before Valentine's Day. I would love to lose a stone in 6 weeks - but suspect that 12 pounds may be nearer my limit. I will lose as much as I can and only know how much when I get there.

My waist and tummy is my worst part nowadays too. I just hope that the next stone comes off just from there - that would be nice.

When do you start your new job?

Thanks for popping by... its good to know its not just me thinking like this!!! i just think had a bad day so whats the point of going the gym i will enjoy the day off and start again tomorrow is basically my story but everyone says its a lifestyle change and I will get there just takes time

I think i will definitelykeep on top of the measurements now...the 26th of the month is measure day LOL
It is a big target really but gives me something to aim for and i missed my xmas target but its made me more determind and i think i have a better outlook on the loss than i did several months ago... a loss is a loss no matter how small and its in the right direction so im happy with anything really LOL

How great would that be to pick where the weight comes off from tummy then hips and thighs would be top of my list in that order chest very near the bottom if not the bottom of the list !!!!

As for the job i am still waiting for the police check to come back it takes 4 weeks on average (its been just over 3) so taking in christmas i think it should be back in the next week or so then i can get the start date and contracts signed just cant do anything till its back so fustrating!

Hi

I have just got back from my parents I was just passing by so decided to drop in is what they thought how wrong were they
I took 2 boxes of chocs (christmas gifts), pack of mince pies and some nibbles round and put them away without them knowing so they are out of my house and i wont be picking at them LOL
I just need to get rid of more chocolates and a box of biscuits i have decided to take them new years eve to their party so looks like i am contributing but at least most are now out of the house!!!

Makes me feel better and more positive about the new start i will be making infact i think i will do a workout DVD in a bit Im not up to going the gym today we just went the supermarket to get some bits in for dinner tonight and i have started with a really sore throat its killing me to talk or swallow but not taking any medication yet not till its excruciating pain since i found out how bad they are!!!

Hi sarah,

Thanks for your post, I know that 3lb isn't too bad and I know I have gained alot more in previous years.

I'm going to try and fit in a few red days this week to mix things up a bit because I usualy go all green. I am sure you will be okay on Wednesday, you ahve your 14lb target for february to keep you motivated!

I am sorry that you have got a sore throat - I hope that it is better very soon.

Well done on getting rid of the chocolates etc. :hurray: That was a great idea.

It is annoying that all the paperwork for the new job is stuck with the police. There are so many hoops that some places jump through these days. You will be so pleased when everything is sorted and you can start counting the days until you do the job that you trained for.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

My sore throat is still here and i have a cold and temp great start to the new year so i wasnt drinking last night which im glad about this morning when i woke without hangover!
So weighed myself this morning and i am 2lb down from yesterday morning happy but confused how!!!
All my christmas decs are down now I awlays take them down on new years day as everything is over and done with and life (and my livingroom) is now back to normal

New year new start and im more determind than ever to loose weight which is also due to the fact hubby and i had a serious talk about wanting to start a family soon Its been decided August is the best time as i will be settled in my job (I will be starting soon i can feel it) LOL and i will of lost weight by then as well which will always help

Don't fret over your small weight gain through the holidays. Sounds like you already have it under control and are right back on track. Good on ya for getting the sweets out of your house! Best way to beat temptation is to remove it.

I LOVE your motivation for improving your health - STARTING A FAMILY! Children (especially sweet, cuddly babes) are such a blessing. I wish you all the best on your continued journey!

Ok so its weigh in later 7:30pm (GMT) im quite happy to think i have put on 2lb over christmas and new year I will be really happy with that I have been jumping on and off my scales all day to see what the average will be OBSESSED!!!!

Hubby and i decided to give up alcohol for 6 weeks as i drank way too much over christmas!!!
and no take aways for those 6 weeks either we dont have them often so it wont be too hard tilli convince myself i want a chinese ... i will have to try to make it instead eeeek
