I packed up the sweets and sent them to work with my husband. He really means well. He went to the donut store with my daughter to let me sleep in - the probelm was he brought a dozen donuts back with him.
My mentality is if I can make it out of the grocery store without buying it - I wont be tempted to eat it. It's not so easy when he comes to the store with me or god forbid he's the one to go shopping. He comes home with a couple practical things and bags full of terrible foods that I have a hard time beging around and not devouring.
We have both put on weight in the past year. I had a hard time with ear infections last winter and had to stop swimming with masters. My fitness level really went in the lou after that. Even though we bought a treamill, I just don't feel like walking/running gives me the same benefits as swimming. Right now we're building a lap pool in our backyard so I'll be able to swim at home and hopefully the less chlorinated water will help me avoid the ear issues that the Y's pool was creating.
I did ask my husband last week a couple hours after he came home from the grocery store with a mountain of chips, 2 brownie mixes, slice and bake cookies, etc. 'what do you think would be a good motivator for helping us to eat more healthful food and and exercise?' He never came up with an answer, but he has gone with me to walk our dogs in the morning 3 times since then - that is huge progress for him.
