Hello lovely people! Well i properly started the "diet" (hehe) yesterday and so far .. (i know it has only been 2 days!) but i ate 800 calories yesterday and 700 today... i was fairly shocked actually, i was not intending to eat that less, as i have mainly been eating salads and meat to accompany it, but using fitday when i recorded the amounts and tallied it up i was very shocked... maybe its just me but im not starving myself but i thought 700 calories was quite a little amount  hmm! Im also very pleased as i went on two brisk 30 minute walks today and have just done 1 hour at 24mph average on the excersize bike, and i actually really enjoyed myself! I might do some weights later.. but i am very pleased with myself today!

I have decided to only weigh myself once every fortnight...as i dont want to get my hopes up and end up realising i have put on a few pounds.. its only natural to anyway! :) Ill let you no how i get on latereeno folks xx!

Hi and welcome to your diary :)

Do you plan on upping your calories now that you have an accurate accounting of them?

Well i found that once i finished my hour on the bike i was light headed... so im going to up it to 1000 tommorow and see how i get on then... i think its more finding a substitute for things like chocolate that give you a bit of an energy burst...

Heres a couple of face pics of me... ill try take a body one for you guys once im not all sweaty :p hehe

I wouldn't start a morbidly obese person on that low of a caloric intake.

Eat more.

And hi, welcome to journaling. :)

Ok thanks for the reply steve... what calorie intake would you suggest? Im off to go do some weights now... im actually really in the mood for it... perhaps its boredom.. oh wel better than sitting doing nothing eh! :)

I heard weights can increase your metabolism, so i thought it would be a good idea to keep the muscle strength up :)

Put it this way, 15 calories per lb of body weight is a pretty good estimate as to what energy maintenance is.

You are eating WELL below that.

For people starting from scratch, I usually calculate maintenance, and then reduce caloric intake based on that number by a specific percentage which is based on how much the individual weighs now, and how much weight they want to lose.

But I would never put someone below 1000. I mean, I barely ever put someone below 1500. And if I do, they are really small to begin with.

Think of it like this. 1000 calories is maintenance for a 70 lb person.

Thanks steve, i have upped it to 1500 -1700 range now, i have more energy now as well

I weighed myself this morning and ive lost 5 pounds for my first week which im thrilled about... i wouldn't mind if i had only lost 0.2 pounds as long as i can see the results for myself :) I dont mind if it takes a while.. if it takes me a year to lose these 50 pounds.. ill be made up.. just want to feel healthier! :D

And the best thing about all this is... im actually enjoying myself losing weight..!

Hugs and Kisses xx
