Rachie's Diary

rachie

You are doing so awesome and I love the fact that you run. There's a runner under my layer of fat. I do a run/walk once a week, watching out for my knees. Running would be my exercise of choice if I were your size. It is a COOL sport and the weight just melts off you plus all the endorphins. Congratulations on the 16 pounds lost.

Sunday

I hear ya M2M ;)

HappyC thanks for stopping by. Thanks for the support. Running does rock and slow and steady run/walks are just as good. It's amazing how as time goes on you'll see such big changes to your fitness and mood. I get crotchety now if I don't exercise.

This week has been minimum exercise cause work has been so crazy. I was 133lbs today so don't think I'll have lost for my weigh-in tomorrow but maintenance is good. Gain would be bad! This week I am getting back to the gym and hitting it hard. My goal was to be 132lbs on the 12th, I am almost there, I hit 132.5lbs a couple of times in the week, I just need to push through my self-imposed plateau by getting back to the gym properly and making sure I put aside enough time for eating right. :D

And now I am going to work again!

Hey I'm about to go for a run in the forest, wish me luck!

For your plateau, have you tried a "cheat" day? I'm not sure if I understand it exactly, but I guess it's a non-diet day (not a binge day) and it's supposed to shock your body into losing once you go back to dieting. I never plan mine, but they happen, LOL! Good luck to you!

Hi Rachie! I'm glad to hear your weight loss plan is going well. I also love to run. Don't you find it amazing how quickly your body adjusts to running? I used to get tired out in no time, but now I feel like I could go on forever (well, not quite).
Thanks for stopping by my diary :D

Well good afternoon to you CG :D Good luck for your run in the forest, that sounds kick-ass! I'm starting early tomorrow and hitting the pavement :) My boyfriend says he wants to run with me. I have kind of had a couple of cheat days recently  But it totally works, if I have trouble losing weight, I eat a burger and fries or something and the next day I am a pound or so lighter! If only that was always the way! :D

Hi Sunnydee, thanks for stopping by my diary too! Sorry to hear you haven't been well :( It really is amazing how quickly the body adjusts. I know what you mean about going on forever, sometimes I just get into the groove and get all Forrest Gump :D

I have been thinking about getting an MP3 player but I'm not sure whether to wear it when I run outside. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?? I'm thinking that I won't be as aware of my surroundings i.e. cars and weirdos! Maybe I'll just keep it for the gym. Any suggestions from anyone gratefully accepted :)

LOL, maybe that's what I should do! We just saw a video last night - Fast Food Nation. It made me glad I haven't eaten a burger from a fast food place in over 7 years. But I have eaten a burger from a local restaurant, along with fries. If I don't break through my plateau by 30 days, I think that's what I'll do!

ps. Thanks for dropping by!

I tend to only use my mp3 player when I'm inside or when I'm just leisurely walking outside in the daylight. I never use it outside after dark or when I'm jogging/walking somewhere that's kind of secluded. Also, I usually pull the headphones out of my ears when I'm crossing the street. It's better to have all your senses freed up in those circumstances. I know I'd get a pretty big fright if I was walking alone after dark listening to my tunes, thinking I was all alone, and then suddenly noticed some scary-looking person walking close behind me.

Weekly Weigh In

So I am back down to 132.5lbs (which is the weight I was on Thursday for the March 2lbs a week challenge). 0.5lbs this week. I must be more consistent this week!

Thanks for stopping by Tom and SunnyDee. Tom - I am sure your plateau will end really soon, you've been working so hard! Sunny - I thought that too about the MP3 player, I think I'll be fine in the day but not so much when it's a little dark or if I am in a quiet place. Thanks :D

March 12th goal 132lbs - actual weight 132.5lbs
April 4th goal 128lbs - NEXT GOAL!!!!

I'm with sunny on the mp3 player - while it's pretty much surgically implanted on my body - when i'm outside after dark, I will always have one ear free and have the volume turned down a little -not that I expect to be jumped or anything - but better safe than sorry...

Inside though - it's mandatory.. just makes my world a happier place.. :)

I know what you mean about the music making you happier :) I think I'd be more motivated to run with some music blasting :D Thanks guys!

Just got back from my Monday morning run :D 3.7 miles this morning so a good start to my back-to-work exercise week :)

i'm impressed :) congrats...

Thanks but hold the impressed until I have completed my week of exercise :) That's the test. I am feeling quit motivated by Tom and Sprite who burn so many calories. I have to admit the run this morning was good but it didn't wear me out enough.... I have come a long way, I used to get out of breath just walking up a flight of steps. I wasn't overweight by much according to my BMI but my health was terrible. So, I am packed my gym kit and brought it to work and if I can finish work at a decent time and get to the gym before dark (thanks daylight savings!) I am going to have a slow and steady workout on the elliptical and bike. Now I just have to get the work done so I can leave. Being a grad student and knowing it's Spring Break is sometimes hard. I don't get a Spring Break. Well, technically I guess I could take one but usually they are catch-up weeks where I can do lab work without having to run to class! I don't want to overwork myself but it does take more to leave me feeling like I have had a proper workout now....So thinking positively, I WILL GO TO THE GYM!

Hi Rachie!

Congrats on the weightloss! And your run!

I was tired when I ran, and my ankle gave out for a second--fortunately it was fine to run on, and only mildly sore last night. Now it's 100% fine. I run in an area in a town that is probably one of the safest places for women, or anyone for that matter--so I'm always blasting my iPod Nano (that my gramps was nice enough to get me for Xmas). It's funny--my quirk is that I love Bay Area rap, so I'm in the beautiful forest, with sunlight streaming thorough the trees on the moss and flowers, with butterflies, listening to Mac Dre :p It's actually pretty silly.

have a great day!

Hey! Sorry about your ankle :( Glad it's better now though! :D I really want a Nano - apparently Apple does refurbished ones that are a bit cheaper so I might try that when I have saved up some money :) I bet it feels good running through that forest! I ran over to a 1-mile course we have in the park, it weaves through the trees a bit and is softer ground than the pavement... you know, in case I fall again  Sometimes it's nice to listen to things going on around but taking it all in and listening to some music sounds great too! Hope Monday is treating you well :)

Way to go on the loss Rachie! Looks like that scales is heading in the right direction.

As far as running outside with music, I'm slightly troubled when running alone outside while listening to music and most of the time don't do it. I'm a scaredy cat. Meow.

Haha, meow! That's cute :) I tend to err on the side of caution too photocrazed. It's pretty rare I run at night and despite the busy street I run on (lots of runners all times of the day) I think I'd probably listen to one ear or just run without the music.

The scales is slowly heading in the right direction, thanks! But it's gone reaaaallllyyyy slow this last week and my 5-day average shows a plateau. This is my own fault for working too hard and not making time to hit the gym. That all changes this week though!!! :D

Yeah, you and me both are going to hit the exercise this week! I never in my wildest dreams would have thought that I could do that much damage in a week. I guess that's what happens when you go crazy! Oh well. I still have 1.5 weeks to go before weighing myself publicly and hope to do some good damage by then.

I have an appointment for tomorrow at 4pm to see the doctor, and my knee is feeling some better, so I do plan to hit the treadmill after work today and do my weight training routine! Speaking of Jake G, I have Brokeback Mountain to watch so I might put it on and watch it while I'm on the treadmill depending on how much time I have.

It is amazing how quickly you can gain and how slowly it comes off! so unfair! I think it's good that you gave yourself 2 weeks to get back to normal and probably lose a bit more than before I am sure!

I hope the appointment with the doctor goes well. Be careful that knee!

If you watch the whole of Brokeback while you are on the treadmill I will be seriously impressed!
