Rachie's Diary

My body (scale) is doing the same thing to me, Rachie. I can't see the actual scale moving down, but I am noticing small things about my body changing. Therefore, I will keep at it! It is frustrating when I was thinking that I would be able to lose at least 6 lbs a month, but that's just hasn't worked out this month so far. Unless there is a huge drop this next week or something... (highly doubtful, but staying the course).

Keep up all the good work!

Hi photo, I know what you mean we have to keep trying and soon enough the weight will drop. I do find that after a plateau the weight tends to skip down suddenly and then I get a steady drop till the next plateau! It's my TOM right now so I shouldn't expect too much. I ate a bunch of carbs this weekend which didn't help! Keep it up! The scales will shift in the end!

Thanks Lena :) I definitely have ups and downs on my motivation! The scales not shifting this week made me want to do more and I knew I had been sat back a bit so needed to push myself.

Happy Hump Day to you- hope it's a great one for you

Morning Mal, Happy Hump Day to you too. Hope you enjoyed pancake day yesterday and got through your work day with a successful tarring and feathering of your colleague :)

Just got back from the gym, I did 15 hard minutes on the elliptical - must push myself like that more often, 6 rubbish minutes on the treadmill - wasn't feeling it today, so hopped on the bike and did about 10 minutes, oh and I did just a couple of sets of weights. All in all about 229 calories according to fitday. It was a relatively quick workout. Going to run and get a coffee and my morning snack now. Long day of work ahead of me!

Soooo funny

Oh my god. Has anyone seen the best of craigslist on their site? Just read this story about a dog and some bread rolls. So funny, I cried with laughter.
See what you think!!!

so I get home tonight and got on the scales: 133lbs pops up - I get a bit excited but realize this is highly unlikely given that I weighed more than that this morning... I come back, it tells me 3.5lbs more. Methinks me needs a better scale!

Well I got on the scales this morning and it said 134lbs :) I moved it too cause I think it was getting stuck in the previous place. It had shown me 133lbs again and then jumped to 134lbs. So I think I am doing okay! Have to work hard at the gym again today especially because I am going out for dinner tonight so might have a calorie heavy day. I think this is cool though because my calories have been fairly over the last couple of days. Anyway, I'll try and be good today! :D

Wishing you a very happy almost Friday... Hope it's a great day today.

it's also be Humble day -- which personally i find silly - take a moment tobrag on your accomplishments... :)

So I have been using calories as a guide to where I should be but I do look for a balance in my diet. I was wondering whether I am in the healthy range for carbs/fat/protein so I went onto sparkpeople and found a table that gives some guidlines....
Calories protein (g) Carbs (g) Fat (g)
1200 30-105 135-195 27-47
1500 38-131 169-244 33-58
1800 45-158 203-293 40-70
2100 53-184 236-341 47-82
2400 60-210 270-390 53-93

Protein = 10-35%
Carbohydrate 45-65%
Fat 20-35%

So my diet breakdown for the last month from fitday shows:
Fat 30% Carbs 49% Protein 21%
this doesn't sound too bad, I would like to decrease fat a little bit and replace with more lean protein and could probably increase carbs a bit. This is something I have been struggling with still. Need to add the tuna/chicken/egg whites.
Not too bad though.

Is that the one where the dog was basically drunk from the yeast?? hehehe.. I read that one. It was great!

I think your protein number should be a lot higher.. I think..

Hi Photocrazed - it is the one where the dog was drunk - poor thing but very funny!!! I thought my protein was low too!?! But I always struggle with that. It's hard to get protein for lunch around here unless I want fast food sandwich! I think I need to bring my lunches more often. But it looks like I am in the right range according to sparkpeople. I'm going to read around but in the meantime I am going to try and cut fat a little and increase protein so at least they are about 25% each and carbs is 50%. I really don't want to cut fat too low as I feel ill if I don't have a decent amount of fat in my meals. :)

Duh I really need to read and not skim

"The SparkPeople diet takes a middle of the road approach with these ranges. Our specific breakdown is 15% protein, 55% carbohydrates, and 30% fat."

Okay so this was in the same article as the numbers I previously posted. So fat is higher than protein....

So protein:carb:fat: my numbers are 21:49:30 and they say 15:55:30

So if anything my protein % is high, that's weird. Well, I guess it's okay as it is?!
