Rachie's Diary

Hi!

Howdy Rachie,
Cingrats on tackling that treadmill! I manage to do 1 mile
in 17 mins and thats a couple runs and the rest walk I hate that
thing lol! Hope ya have a nice day,Tammy:)

Hi Tammy, thanks for the encouragement :) I used to hate the treadmill when I first started too! I still like to give in and have a quick walk now and again. I got a bit addicted to running after a while though. I like running too fast though and then I just get tired! Hope you have a great day too!

Thanks!

Hey Rachie!

You may want to consider adding a little more lean protein to your diet. Like egg whites, tuna, lean meat, etc. And lots of veggies and fruit is great as well.

Good for you for getting on the treadmill this morning. These days I have enough trouble just getting out of bed!

Have a great day

Hi 12packAbs - nice name by the way :) I really want to add more protein. I have been thinking about adding more but wanted something healthy! All those are great suggestions. I could easily bring some tuna to work with me which would be a great alternative to all the chicken I end up eating! I eat salmon once or twice a week too but think more variety of fish would be good. Thanks again - you have a great day too!

Friday!

Quite excited today. The scales says 136.5lbs! :D Official weigh in date is Monday so I have to be good over the weekend! But.... that would mean another pound! I'm not going to think about it anymore. Must continue to be good. Have a 45 minute gym workout today and then my day off tomorrow... fingers crossed for next week!

Protein!

So the gym workout was good. Did about 30 minutes on the ellipitical trainer and ran another 9 minute mile and walked for about 5 mins to cool down. Was looking rather pink after that!

Am eating lunch while I type :) Having a salad with lettuce, loads of grated carrots, broccoli, sesame seeds, a little tuna mayo and some hard boiled egg whites (thanks for the egg white suggestion 12packabs). I think the person behind me at the salad bar was annoyed cause I carefully picked all the chunks of white out and left the yolk. Shame really cause I love the yolk but that's a lot of cholesterol!!! So about an egg's worth of whites added to my daily protein amount! Must eat more for dinner. Also having a banana and a 99% fat free yoghurt and a big bottle of water. Man I drank waaay too much coffee this morning. I felt like I was hungover or something!

Oh and I decided to ensure I am good about diet and exercise this weekend - I have updated my weight ticker so now I HAVE to be good because I don't want to change it back up again!!!!

Go Rachie! Go Rachie!

You're doing well! I laughed at you stealing the egg whites from the salad bar - well done. You're giving me a little motivation to try harder!

Cottage cheese is also a decent source of protein, plus it's low in fat, etc (if you like it, that is...plenty of people don't).

I also use a protein powder at snack time...but I much prefer to have real food. I keep a container at work with something to shake it up in - quick protein.

Howdy Rachie,
Hope you have a wonderful day! I have
trouble getting in the fruits and veggies I eat chciken and eggs
like there going out of stayle lol! Goodluck with Mondays weigh
in,Tammy:)

Thanks for the support! My own cheering squad over here!... a macho one of course though! grunt. ;)

You know, I have never tried cottage cheese.... I'm going to take the plunge this weekend and try it though! Protein shakes are good and I know lots have fiber in them too which is always a good addition! Thanks again!

Have a great weekend!
Rachie

Hey Tammy - I saw that you did well on your weight loss this week! You are working hard!!! Good for you - congrats! You have a great day too! :D

I am definitely getting somewhere on the weight - even if the 3 week weigh in tomorrow isn't as good as today! I just weighed in at 135.5lbs... yay! The scales are beginning to agree with me that I have been doing well!
I have a party this evening though so I must behave and eat in moderation!
Oh and I am trying cottage cheese for my lunch today :)

3 week weigh in

Weight was higher today but I am happy with it: 136.5lbs :D
That's another pound off this week to add to my previous 0.5lbs. Yay! :D
I have found Monday is generally my heaviest day of the week and that's why I chose it to be my weigh-in day. It makes me think more about losing weight for the following Monday and know that I have to work hard all week to be less on Monday. I think it's working for me. I am really encouraged by the weight this week. The fact that I know I can get down to 135.5lbs (see yesterday's weight) is a bonus! My goal for this week 1.5lbs! I am going to work hard so we'll see what happens. :) I should really hide the scales through the week though - that might motivate me more to only weigh once a week. I'll try - we'll see how many days I can do without the scales for!

2007 Stats:
Start weight 138lbs
Current weight: 136.5lbs
Lost: 1.5lbs
Left to Lose: 16.5lbs

Food so far today...

Breakfast: Honey Almond Flax Kashi Bar

Lunch: 3 Wasa crispbread thingies with 3 tablespoons cottage cheese (yum) and baked pork tenderloin leftover from Saturday night's dinner.

Calculated calories so far: 567 (with a heck of a lot of protein!)

Have to eat some fruit this afternoon... not sure that I'll work out today anything more than some abs stuff and maybe some free weights... my body is pretty darn tired from the run yesterday!

:d

Thanks M2M it is a good day :)
However, my mind has been madly planning how much weight I want to lose by when and how I'll get there and I think I am going overboard!!!!! It's good to have determination but I am going a bit over the top. I am pleased with the weight I have lost so far this month but wish it would come off faster (who doesn't though right?). I know it's going to take time but I get all excited about an idea and want to see results then and there! Patience may be a virtue but I don't think it's one of mine
I'll get over this a bit, I just get all energetic about new goals and things to work towards.
Maybe I am just drinking too much coffee! :D

hungry day

I am having a hungry day today and am trying my best not to let it take over my day

Gym:10 mins elliptical, 20 mins weights, 9 min mile on treadmill and 10 min walk to cool down so my lungs and heart don't explode.

Breakfast: Kashi Bar

Lunch: small bowl of pasta with salmon, peas a bit of parmesan cheese
and a nutrigrain bar

Afternoon snack: 3 Hershey's kisses and two mini-hershey bars (damn my office having a tin of candy)

Just got in from work snack: 1 serving of pringles =>Apparently a serving is 15 crisps so I counted them out and am dipping them in non-fat cream cheese

Amazingly, my calories seem to be just under 1000 so far. I think dinner will be salad and fruit :D

Oh well, it's not the worst binge. I used to eat a can of pringles pretttttyy fast! That would be 1000 calories in one sitting! erghhh! I definitely have a binge eating habit and I am finally beginning to get over it. Allowing myself a small amount and then getting up and doing something to take my mind off it helps. :D Speaking of which I am going to go and fill up on some green, healthy food now :D

Sounds like a good plan Rachie - and I was right there with you with the can of Pringles. Who knew an entire can wasn't one serving ;)

Wednesday

Good Morning :D OKay I am hungry again. Just ate a Kashi bar and a nutrigrain bar in about 10 minutes. Maybe I need to up my calories or better distribute them throughout the day  I blame the cold weather. Shivering is using up more calories therefore I need to eat more :p

Good workout at the gym, 25 mins elliptical, one 9 minute mile and then a slowish walk at a very steep incline on the treadmill. Think I'll do something different tomorrow to save my feet for a day.

Dinner last night was small but not nutritious enough really, had a cheese and lettuce sandwich with a bit of mayo. Very yummy but my body wants veggies and fruit! Hitting up the store tonight, finally! Looks like we're in for a little bit of snow tomorrow (only a dusting) so we won't be able to get into the store tomorrow night when the panic arrives and the city goes bananas ;)

I brought a pack of tuna to put on my salad at lunchtime. I am going to load up my plate with broccoli and some other veggies and make sure I buy 1-2 pieces of fruit.

M2M - I was in shock too when I realized a can wasn't one serving. What's that all about?

I hopped on the scales AGAIN today! Totally addicted to weighing! It was nice today though - 135.5lbs - now I have to keep it at that or get lower for Monday! :D

Ohh...sounds like you have a good plan going for the day! I've been eating tuna every day - seems it's the only way I can get my protein in, but it kills my sodium level ;)

Have a good day!

huh - sodium - that's not something I have been noticing. Good call on that! I have 310mg in my tuna here according to the facts on the back. Looking at fitday my sodium for the last 2 weeks is 2336.2mg which certainly sounds high to me! Past week it's about 1900 and so far today (counting the tuna but haven't added anything else yet) it's already 425mg. This tuna packet says 310mg = 13% of Daily Value based on 2000 cal diet. I am on about 1500 cals a day at the moment so I should really only have just under 1800mg max. I wonder what's making my sodium so high? Maybe these snack bar things I am eating!?! Oh well, I'll monitor this. I had already noted my folate, calcium and iron are low. Hmmm, good things to pay attention to!

Cottage Cheese Thieves and Pizza Tempters...

So I really love cottage cheese now (thanks 12packabs). I bought a tub of the non-fat stuff. I showed it to my boyfriend and explained I needed more protein. He said he hates cottage cheese which was just fine by me! However, the next meal we have (pasta), I add cottage cheese to and offer him some, just in case he changed his mind. Bad idea  he ate the lot! cheeky git!

So tuna is my substitute protein today and very yummy it was. I felt so good and healthy with my salad, tuna, a big bottle of water and a banana for lunch. Then I got in the elevator and some guy was eating the biggest slice of pizza I have ever seen. I think I may have drooled on my shoes. He did offer me a bite though! :D Naturally I declined the offer and feel almost over the pizza longing.... maybe....;)
