Quick Question

What affects would drinking lets say 6 pints of beer or cider a night, everynight, while training at the gym 4 mornings a week have to muscle growth if any?

Or what effect does alcohol have on muscle growth?

alcohol use stunts muscle growth because it screws with anabolism.

6 pints of beer a day is NOT moderation. Hell it boarders on a drinking problem if you ask me, but I'm not here to judge. I like my beer...Hell I make my own beer!
But I drink one or two pints, or a kolsch glass at most on the days I drink.

Alcohol aside, that much beer/cider means a TON of empty calories from alcohol and residual sugars, which is going to make balancing your dietary needs a bit of a pain.

You have to decide if 6 pints (3 quarters of a gallon PER DAY) is more important than the physical changes you want to see in your body. And again...long term health, liver damage...etc etc.

Thanks for your reply, i gave up a few weeks ago and have planed to keep it that way till at least christmas, then after that keep it in moderation after the doctor told me i had a enlarged liver and made me have every test under the sun, every thing come back ok and was put down to achohol.Drinkings never been a problem (as in a dependent thing)i dont gain weight that easy dont feel drunk,i drink because i like the taste and the social aspect, but i guess its the effect on the inside you can not see.
Just over a year ago i decided to really make a go at it at the gym,put in a lot of hours,it was only after giving up drinking i wondered if the alchohol had and effect on muscle gain as i didnt really get a great deal of gain out of that year....
I guess you just answered my question,so that,my age (37) and no supplementary protiens ,carbs etc really didnt help my cause :(
Do you know this becks 0% alc./vol. beer really doesnt taste to bad! 0% sugar 6% carbs 1 gram of protein and only 60 calories! Dont think i will be drinking "3 quarters of a gallon PER DAY" though at this price :)

Thanks again for the reply
