questions with arms.

So ive been going to the gym a few times a week for 3 months and have noticed a difference in my arms(mainly triceps). so my questions are

1. are there any lifts that will work the tri and bi cep?
2. usually half way through(i do arm machines then free weights) my arms are killing me and by the time i get to free weights i do it half ass cause it hurts, anyone know how to stop this?
3. i seem to have a layer of fat over my arms anyway to get it off?

thanks alot.
btw im 280 5'10 and 16

That's great that you are starting to see rewards for your hard work. If you are working all parts of your body then you're actually working your tri's and bi's secondary when you do chest and back. So in a way you are working your arms twice a week. You'll start to see more definition and some veins popping in your arms as soon as you continue to drop weight and the way to do that is cardio and weight training combined and eating clean. Are you doing that?

kinda sounds like you are going about training all wrong.

"I do machines, then free weights" generally a bad idea
also sounds like you're really focusing on the arms, and not on the rest of the body.

what you should be doing, is compound exercises with free weights as much as possible, and then IF you need them, isolation exercises at the END of the routine.

If you thrash your arms on the machines, you'll never get a good chest/back workout done.

And no, there's no good exercise for triceps and biceps because they move the arm two different ways. triceps need a pressing exercie and biceps need a pulling exercise.

if you were benching and doing pullups and rows, you'd be hitting the arms while you work the chest and back.

Solution

Due to the recession and to help aid you in developing your arms, I will sell you my arms. Now I am short and likewise reach is an issue, but these arms are fantastic. Complete with 5 fingers, a hand and shoulder, these arms could be yours for 10K US dollars.

Let me know.
