Questions about HIIT

What's the ideal interval between the sprints? Right now I'm going for 45 min, with a sprint session that lasts 20 seconds every 5 min, for a total of 8 sprints (and they're pretty much everything I've got for the 20 seconds) - the recovery time seems pretty good, I just wanted to check what the ideal times/durations are.

Also, would soccer be considered a HIIT activity? Back in the states I usually play 1-2 times per week, and I'd think that, by definition, it's ideal for HIIT. Your thoughts?
