question for PT's

Hey guys, new member here :)
Ive got a question to ask if i may...... Im currently working as a waiter and as a gym instructor while i study my PT qualification. My problem is that while i try to get as many hours at the gym as possible, my other job prevents me from getting a few because they both have comparable 'busy periods'. The hours i get at the gym are not enough to support myself with though, so i need that second job. My question is......what did those of you who work as PT's do as a second job that allowed you to make enough time available to break into the industry, gain experience and create a client base?
Thanks for the help.

If you divide your time between two jobs, you won't be able to give your best to either.
I suggest you dive into PT full time if thats what you wanna be doing for the rest of your life. This way, you'll probably have to struggle it out in the beginning, but you'll be successful after some time. But if you keep shuttling between two jobs, you'll never be good enough for either or it will take you much longer and your struggle (between two jobs) will also last longer.
But thats just my opinion. Different strokes for different folks.

I agree with both above.

However, I don't know about you, but most people can't afford not to have an income while waiting for something like that to develop - I would recommend getting a job in a gym. That way, you would be getting a paycheck to pay the bills with, but still be in the environment where you could help grow your career as a trainer, meeting people who could become potential clients, etc.

Im in the same situation as you. I currently work for the USPS but want to eventually train full time. I am setting goals for myself, writing down my plans for the near future, and pushing forward with them. Right now it is tough because I go to school and work 40+ hours per week. I currently train only online, but will be starting group training classes on weekends by mid next month.

Hey all, thanks alot for the replies. It just so happens that tonight while i was on shift at the gym i got offered a permanent 3 night per week conditioning coach style position with a rugby club. Gotta love lady luck! :)
