Question about Obliques

Hey! its me again :D I've made some huge gains since the last time I was here. Thanks to you all! I've got a question on obliques now. I would like to know what are the benefits of training the obliques? My waist is kinda thin right now so is it a good idea to start working out the obliques? I heard that your waist will become thinner doing it. Thanks!
 
If you've got stronger obliques then you'll be able to lift heavier weights ie bigger squat and deadlift. Working the obliques will give you a thick muscular waist that exudes power and strength.

I've only heard that working your obliques will make your waist thicker (but in a good way, obviously).
