Put that down, fatty!

You are an exercise fiend! I really need to follow your example!

Also, I ADORE Marmite! I haven't had any for ages. Maybe that's what I'll have for dinner. I know I've got some whole wheat english muffins around here somewhere...
Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm really not doing that much exercise dude! I just walk everywhere these days but I don't go out of my way to do it--I just dont catch the bus anymore which means HUGE walks everywhere. The gym is *real* exercise for me! Miss it so much! Hope you got some marmite!!!

Sunflower, maybe the best way will be for me to tell you how I have been
maintaining my ideal weight of 175 pounds with 10% body fat for over 15
years, and maybe in the future, if you are interested I can tell you how I went
from weighing 285 pounds, having 44% body fat, drinking on a daily basis,
smoking cigarretes, marijuana, drinking coffee, and obvioulsy overeating, to
turning my life around completely, and reaching a point, where the only bad
habit that I have is drinking green tea three times per day, if that can be
considered a bad habit that is. This was all possible, because a friend of mine,
who is a psychologist, told me something that changed my life forever, which
is that I wasn't living in the current moment, and that instead I was living in
my mind, in my thoughts, in my internal dialogue, and that I was never living
in the present moment, and that this was the root of all my problems!

Anyway, let me tell you how I maintain my weight, because this is the hardest
part of weight loss, it is TEN TIMES more harder to maintain than to lose, and
only 1 out of a thousand people (as far as statistics at least) are able to
reach and then maintain their ideal body weight in the long run.

And since you are truly motivated to make this happen, I want to share this
information with you, because maybe it can help you to accomplish the same
thing in your life, in fact I am sure that you will reach your ideal weight, and
almost sure that you will be able to maintain it, as long as you also learn to
live in the present moment (there is nothing harder than this).

Okay, here is how I maintain my weight:

1) First, I don't count calories, but am aware that if I consume more calories
than my body can burn off during the day, I will gain weight. I have counted
in the past a few times, and know that my current calorie intake is around
3500 calories per day. My BMR is around 3000 calories. This calorie deficit
is burned off through exercise, and this is how I maintain my weight, in case
you are wondering.

2) I eat 5 average sized meals, every three hours of the day

3) Breakfast is the largest meal of the day, the last meal is the smallest

4) Every meal has these foods, vegetables, fruits, and some type of starchy
carbohydrate (potato, rice, beans, etc.) this makes up 75% of the meal,
and the other 25% is either lean protein (chicken breast, turkey breast,
lean beef, lean pork, etc) or sea food (fish, shellfish, etc.)

...I also eat walnuts in small amounts in those meals

5) I eat only whole food, in other words, the way this food is created in
nature, period! This means ZERO processed anything! No processed carbs
(white flour, white sugar, whole grain flour, etc...) anything that has been
processed in the factory, I don't eat.

...obviously I don't mean that has been "packaged" in the factory, like
oatmeal, etc. I am talking about when the food is stripped of everything
that is nutritious in it.

6) I drink about 3 liters of water every day, and the only other liquid I drink
is green tea without sugar.

7) I do HIIT (high intensity interval training) three times per week, every
M,W,F, and weight training three times per week, every T,Th,Sat, with
Sunday off, to spend a whole day with my wife and kids.

I have been doing this for over 15 years without stopping (except when I go
for my two vacations to Amsterdam) where I only use walking, in fact I walk
there all day long, so i don't do any exercise while I am there.

I don't use willpower, instead I have a different approach, which is much more
effective. Here is what my goal chart looks like that produces the non-stop
motivation for me on a daily basis. It might look silly to some people, but
I don't care because it works like crazy. I will use an example that I used
to reach my ideal weight, because at this time it is such a habit, that I don't
even have to think about it anymore.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

What is my primary health objective?

...I choose to maintain my ideal weight of 175 pounds with 10% body fat.

Step three: drink 3 liters of pure water on a daily basis, and a few cups
of green tea, instead of coffee.

Step two: eat five average sized meals, every three hours, with the majority
of the daily calories coming from whole plant foods (vegetables, fruits, grains,
nuts) and the rest from lean meat and/or sea food.

Step one: Walk on a daily basis, and use weight training three times per week

What is my current reality?

...I currently weigh 285 pounds, have 44% body fat, overeat on a daily basis,
and don't do any exercise.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

...so you can see it's like a ladder that you have to climb, and by focusing
simultaneously on what I want and on what I currently have, there is an
energy that is produced that can be called non-stop motivation.

...this energy helped me to lose 110 pounds in one year, and this all came
from unwanted body fat, not water and muscle, and it helps me on a daily
basis to keep going, and going, and going (like those Energizer batteries...lol)

well that's about it, hope this helps you somehow, because you have the
potential, otherwise I wouldn't spend my time telling you this!!!

...talk to you later Sunflower :waving:

Vegemite is better than marmite!!!!! :D

Aw so still didn't manage a weigh-in?? When you finally do I'm sure you would've done well!! Have an awesome weekend!!

Luzdafuzz- Well, you would HAVE say that, wouldn't you? LOL!
But actually, I like both!

Sunflower- All the walking you do is awesome! I don't even do that. I do lots of housework and our house has TONS of stairs. But that just isn't a steady workout the way a nice long walk is.
ITA, though, that gyms are great. In the town where we used to live, I LOVED the gym and went nearly every day. But since we moved in 2008, it's not so easy (or cheap!) :-(

I hope you have a happy healthy Saturday night tonight! The weather is crappy here which makes me feel crappy, but let's push all the negativity out the window! How's the ankle doing?

Alex: Thanks for the info dude, and well done for reaching and maintaining your goal! Congrats :) I'll keep what you said in mind :)

luzdafudzzzz: Hey lady! MARMITE IS BETTER! Pretty much the same thing though, right? Marmites just the English version! And no, still no weigh-in! Hopefully I'll make a meeting tomorrow or Tuesday. Hate not knowing :(

Rox: Know what you mean--my gym is cheap compared to others but still over £100 for 6 months. I'm loving the walking but I think since it's just an everyday thing I dont see it as a good work-out. Still very good for me though!! Hope you're well <3

Rach: Ankle is all better so I hit the gym today and a few days ago. The weather here is LOVELY so trying to do as much outdoors exercise as possible! Saturday night was drunken but good for calories which is super :D Hope you had a lovely weekend!!

Wow! Good job on the long walk and the gym session! See? You ARE an exercise inspiration!

I am well, thanks. We've just spent the last two days at a Renaissance Faire (you have those in Australia?), so I've gotten in tons of walking in this weekend...and had fun, too!

Hey Rox! Yeahh, we have those here! I'm from England, though, not Austrailia ;) Although I wish I was from there! Glad to hear you're getting lots of walking in as well! Keep it up lady! xx

Hey Sunflower!!! Glad to hear your ankle is better!! And holy crap- you burned 900 cals in exercise?? That IS awesome!!

Ah I wouldn't worry to much about weighing in- it's just a number. You're still doing amazingly well and you've changed so many potentially damaging lifestyle habits, you must just FEEL so much better!!

Hope you had a great weekend!!!

Heyy lovely :) Yeah, I guess you're right. I just like confirming for myself that what i'm doing is working, you know? Will find time one day this week hopefully :)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, been up since 6am for work. Had a lovely few hours with my little deaf boy who is an absolute star to escort in the car :) I loves my job. Off to see my autistic boy tonight who is more difficult but still adorable. Also a marmite fiend so we have lots in common! :p Probably wont get a work-out today purely because I have work all day until about 7pm. Will maybe do 30 day shred when I'm home but we'll see!

Hi sunflower, I just wanted to apologize for some of the things I wrote in
my last posts. Yesterday, luckily Kara pointed out to me quite effectively
about my style of writing. This kind of feedback is priceless because it
might have saved me from making an ever bigger ass of myself...lol

Anyway, it's awesome that you have a job where you can help children that
have "difficulties" -- that is one of the best things we as humans can do, and
that is to help those that are not as lucky as us!

Anyway, hope that you won't hold it against me in the future, and I promise
not to write in that, as Kara put it "pompous and infomercially" way :smash:
in the future. Later.

It's fine dude, not to worry. I don't think you sounded pompous--Just like you were trying to sell something! Not used to seeing such long posts around here either! But what you've done and how you've done it obviously works so I've taken what you said into consideration :) Have a good day x

Sunflower, I haven't been here in a while but have been reading and following your progress. Way to go!

BTW, Sunflowers are in bloom here. I have them in my garden too, and early morning when I open the curtain to look outside to a new day they look back at me, smiling, as if wishing me a good day. You've chosen a beautiful name. :)

Good luck this week.

Hiya Sun!

I haven't been around in a few but I caught up on your thread and looks like you are doin great! I have one question....what does marmite taste like?? lol

I don't think we have it in this neck of the commonwealth! lol <jealous theres soo much chit chat about it!>

Glad to hear that I only sounded like a salesman. I guess it is because I have
a salesman personality...lol...that I sound like this.

It has been my strength in life, providing me with everything that I wanted,
but in a community where there are so many different people, it obvioulsy
becomes a weakness, and based on some feedback that I got, people were
waiting for me to start selling something.

Basically, I love writing, and have written a book, and have written many free
articles, but my goal on this site is not to sell anything, and in fact, besides
offering free advice on this site I will not consult anyone in PM, etc.

Everything that I will post here, I want others to see. Why? Simple, because
losing unwanted body fat permanently is very, very easy.

All it takes is a shift in the way we look at things in our lives.

I truly hope that I can help as many people on this site as possible, and also
the people that lurk on this forum but never register and never start a diary,
even though I think it is the best thing that someone that has a difficult
time losing weight -- should do!

If I had to boil down everything that I learned in the last 16 years, here is
what I would have to say: 1) know exactly what you want 2) know exactly
where you are right now, i.e. current reality 3) while simultaneously focusing
on both of these things -- observe the most effective steps that your
consciousness tells you to take from where you are right now, to where you
want to be when you hit the main target that you are aiming at!!!

Anyway Sunflower, talk to you later, and by the way there is Alta, that also
likes to make very long posts...lol, and in a funny way she also sounds like
a salesman, or more properly a saleswoman. So maybe there are salesman
and saleswoman personalities???

Hiya Sun!

Mmmmm... salty goodness... :D

Too hard to really describe it lol

Oh sure.....too hard to describe.lol

I'm gonna have to order it online and try it for myself.

Have a good one!

Juni, that's so lovely :) I miss seeing sunflowers so much..My boyfriend has called me sunflower since we met so it's kinda stuck. I love the way they follow the sun as well!

It's full of WIN!

Seriously though, try it! nom nom nom
