Put that down, fatty! (For the last time!!)

Thanks for the thoughts on shared ownership guys--It's very common over here and not like a timeshare or anything. Just a way for people without a big deposit to own property. Although if we carry on saving money like this it may be a non-issue!

justwannabefit--It's flavoured sparkling water and SO yummy. I have had peach and apricot, lemon and lime, ginger and lemon, elder flower and blackberry, etc. It's all so yummy and calories and caffeine free. I drank 1 litre of the stuff whilst my friends drank beer last night!

Hiiii biscuits (your profile picture makes me hungry!!)--sweet potato fries are the bomb. Love them with smoked paprika and lots of unhealthy salt. *drools*

So the damn scales are still being an absolute bitch and are not doing anything. My calories came in at 1500 last night so better than 1200, no alcohol, lots of liquid and me and Yank swam for an hour yesterday. Well, I swam and Yank followed me around the pool pretending to be cthulhu and driving me mad. But I swam very well!!

Today I have to have that horrible thing that women are supposed to have every 3 years from the age of 25. They've been bugging me to go since September and I can't put it off anymore but am having a bit of a stress about it. Fear of the unknownnnnnnn. Never mind--better than cervical cancer and afterwards I'm going for a lovely swim all by myself. Tonight I'm doing baked chicken again with veggies and sweet potato fries because it's lovely and I have lots more ingredients left. This will be night 6 of no drinking--can't quite believe I'm doing it! Feels amazing! Apart from the stupid scales not agreeing with me.

Right, off to get out of my PJ's and get my foo ready for some prodding. Being a girl sucks.

Have a good day everyone!

I had to get prodded last week. It's awkward but if you've got a good doctor it's not so bad, they'll make you feel comfortable. And I've been going every year for a long time, I'd love to go every three years instead!!

Six days of no booze? Amazing!!!!

Keep being patient with the scales. You know you're taking in less calories and exercising more, so it's only a matter of time. Your body is probably freaked out by all the change.

Ohhhh, Oaks--How horrid! Every year? Urgh. Poor foo. No complaining from me then! I have no problem getting my bits out in front of strangers :)patriot:) as I've had piercings and stuff but I *hate* cotton wool. To the point where it makes me gag and I can't touch it and the it's the "cotton swab" bit that is making me want to launch myself off the nearest cliff. Like I said though, better than cancer!

Thanks! I can't believe it's been 6 days! And I have nothing to show for it :nopity: But never mind--Know you are right. I'm eating less, exercising more and quit the booze so it can't be all bad. The changes will happen. Scales say 217 for no apparent reason today so just taking it and will check again tomorrow. I had tons of salt last night and didn't eat until 9pm so maybe that has not helped. Will eat at a more sensible time today.

Breakfast: banana (115)
Lunch: cereal bar (70) crisps (74)
Dinner: baked chicken (320) sweet tater wedges (370) veggies (0) garlic bread (200)
Snacks: sunflower seeds (143)

Total: 1292

Too low, I know, but will have a hot chocolate probably and some raisins if I can hunt some down at the shop. Not been into a shop since I quit the wine so may send Yank!!

Good job on the booze-free streak! You're doing great - as was said, you're probably replacing fat with muscle with all your swimming, don't worry, it's going to start dropping really soon!

You're doing great! And like others have said, don't worry about the scale not cooperating. Every single time I start exercising I always go up on the scale, without fail, and then eventually things evens out and it starts dropping off. It will happen! :)

Good luck at your Dr. appt!

....and mmmm hot chocolate. :)

I go for the great prodding twice a year (standard here when you´ve got a coil). Hated, hated, hated my first gyn but this one is alright. I don´t look down to see what he´s doing so I would not have known he uses cotton wool if you hadn´t just told me :)

Good going on the alcohol! And the swimming. And the eating. You´re just killing it girl!

You are killing it Han. The scales will reflect your brilliant efforts very soon! xoxo

Hiii all <3 Thanks for your comments & support my lovely WLF people.

Doctors went fine--She was lovely. I asked if it was going to hurt and she said I'd have to pay extra for that.. Wonderful lady! Scales were at 217 yesterday and now are at 215 so I guess that's a step in the right direction! Although I got down to 212 way before I started swimming so still need to lose 3 to get where I was when I bloody well started!! Never mind. Every day that goes by it's becoming easier to avoid the wine although I think I went a bit over calories yesterday. I ended on about 1700 which is not what I wanted but I made home-made trail mix and ate a bit too much right before bed.

Food for today should be okay as I'm at work this evening.

Breakfast: banana & cereal bar (200)
Lunch: crisps (74) yogurt (60)
Dinner: 1/2 cup pasta and lots and lots of veggies (430) slice of pizza (200)
Snacks: trail mix (250)

Toal: 1214

No swimming today because I had some errands to run this morning before work but am going to go on Wednesday with Conor and can get there Thursday and Friday too. And I thiiiink I'm off this weekend so lots of exercise then too.

Have done quite a bit of walking at work this week and I jumped off the bus on the way home from swimming last night because the sea looked so lovely so ended up walking the hour home along the beach as well :) Here are some photos! And a cheeky one where my face looks all skinny from the night I realised I SHOULD STOP DRINKING BECAUSE I TURN INTO A TERRIBLE PERSON. :) I'm on the right and my colleague is on the left :)

Ha ha- love it Han. That doc is a keeper. Mine left the practice yesterday & I have to start over with another! :(

Way to go! It will come off, it will come off.....xo Cate

Two pounds gone is great news! And a spontaneous one hour walk sounds great. I wish I had a scenic view to enjoy on my way home. Although I work very close to the Boston Harbor and rarely take advantage of that view, so I suppose it wouldn't matter, haha.

Thanks lovely people <3

Oaks, would loveee to go to Boston--Bet the harbour is beautiful.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday I hadddd

Breakfast:
toast x 2 (250)
Lunch: skipped!
Dinner: ranch salad (120) halloumi (230) kiev (325) garlic bread (400)
Snacks: trail mix (125)

Total: 1450

Scales back up to 216 this morning. No idea what's going on :( My calories are really good.. Maybe wrong foods. Had too much bread yesterday.

Tonight is my work party and I will be having a glass of wine with my meal. This will be the first drop of alcohol in 9 days (or 10?) and I have planned to have this glass of wine tonight since stopping. I will NOT be having more than one glass and to make this a sure thing me and Yank are meeting back at home (he has his work party tonight too) at 21:30 so that we are not out long enough to drink anymore than that. I am also only taking money for one glass. After tonight the next time I drink will be Christmas Day in another weeks time and then I'm hopingggg to do a "Dryathon" in January for charity--Still looking into the details.

So today will look like this:

Breakfast: trail mix (175)
Lunch: crackers with marmite (259)
Dinner: Nut roast (healthiest option on stupid menu) with melon starter and no desert (543)
Snacks: glass of white wine x 1 (187)

Total: 1164

I am also going swimming between my shift finishing and the party so it'll end up being a VERY good day in terms of calories and exercise. Am hoping that maybe a "low" day with an hours swimming may kickstart some losses on the scales.

I went around to my friend's house last night for a few hours and they both had wine. At first I was quite anxious and felt very uncomfortable but I had 5 cups of ginger tea and actually settled into the evening quite comfortably without wine. I told them how much I had been drinking and that that was why I wanted to slow it all down and they supported me (whilst DRINKING IN FRONT OF MEEEEE!). I don't want to quit full-stop. I just want to be able to drink "normally". I.E. Not every night and not so much every night. It would be great to just drink at social occasions a few times a month and not in the home at all. Or to be able to treat myself to one glass with dinner on a Friday but I know I'm not "there" yet so I'm not going to risk drinking at home at all until well after Christmas.

Feeling very positive and getting used to life without my beloved vino!

Sounds great! Especially that you managed to relax and be ok with other people drinking but not you.

Good on you Sunflower, alcohol racks up calories like nothing else. It's fine to enjoy it and do it occasionally, same with most things I guess though (I'm looking at YOU, chocolate!)

I'm so proud of you!! How was the work party? I'm going to have to remember to use you for inspiration at social gatherings. We don't need booze to have a good time!! We're fun without it!

Wait, do you spell your name differently than your parents do???

I had a cancer scare about a year and a half ago. After my pap they told me I had to get a colposcopy which is where they use a magnifying device. It's much more invasive. Then they told me that I had a cell that went from abnormal to pre cancerous in less than a year (normally you would see this change in about 10 years). It was really scary.

I had to get a LEEP procedure which is where they use electricity to remove cells in your cervix. That was VERY unpleasant. Anyways they tested all those cells and they all came back normal thanks god. I was only 24 at the time and didn't have a lot of risk factors for cervical cancer- so it can happen to anyone.

Anyways the moral of this story (massive TMI) is good job for sucking it up buttercup because we do it for a reason.

Well done on passing on the wine Sunflower - I can imagine that must have been very difficult, but well done to you for staying strong. So proud of you!!
